Because that's exactly the type of villain Freeza really is. He performs his acts of evil with class. He'll speak to you courteously, using the correct honorific for your name... right before he shoots a ki beam through your heart.

Uh, yeah. That's all in his dialogue. His actual voice doesn't need to sound smooth and dapper, and it shouldn't.

I don't know if we've been listening to the same Nakao, but he plays the role with his standard, off-kilter creepy voice. The entire point of the character lies in the fact that he both sounds and looks bizarre/frightening, but carries himself with politeness and grace.

Voicing him like Megatron from Beast Wars would be wrong, wrong, wrong. Thankfully, it doesn't sound like that's what we'll be getting.

Everything we know, including the extra bit of info some of us have gotten, leads me to believe that Freeza's new voice will be the absolute best voice Freeza could possibly have short of Teaching Nakao English, giving him perfect elocution lessons so he speaks it without a Japanese Accent, and casting him.

Holy shit, David Kaye voicing Freeza would be amazing, yeeeeeesssssssss. :lol:

You guys are right, Bond villain isn't exactly right, and if it is its more in the dialogue than the voice, but what makes Freeza so interesting voice-wise is his general lack of caring when things are going according to plan. He allows himself a little bit of perverse pleasure (Fireworks!), but usually is just shy of apathetic when politely ordering his minion to order his other minion to kill something. Its only when things don't go his way that things change and he begins to crack and lose control, occasionally trying to reel himself back into that near-apathetic state. Its when he starts cracking that will be the real test for whoever the new actor is.

If the new actor can do those crazy screams, then he will automatically be better than Nakao was in Kai! :lol:

Agreed. Whoever this new VA is...he needs to be able to sound real pissed at the tip of a hat. And then normal at another tip of said hat.

Yeah, this was something I was going to ask. You guys spoke in-depth with people very close to the production of the dub about Freeza's new voice, but you haven't actually heard it for yourselves?

So basically, you're going off of what you've been told when you say that this is the absolute best Freeza can sound in English without actually being voiced by Ryuusei Nakao in English.

Unless I'm mistaken, at least Kirbopher actually HAS heard the new voice. Dunno about anyone else.

Chris Ayres is indeed one of the few actors that plays both characters in One Piece and Sgt. Frog and not FMA:B but if he's the one? We can't say. Considering how fast Nicktoons is airing this show, you'll find out soon enough anyway. You've got to wait another 3 weeks and then you'll know for sure... well, if Nick actually airs the credits sequence that is. As all the others who know have said, you'll be surprised.

I hope it's Chris Ayres, he has a slight Nakao quality in his voice.

Okay, well...here's the English cast for that show:

* Christopher Sabat - Tatsumi Saiga
* Monica Rial - Kagura Tennozu
* Chris Ayres - Choji Suitengu
* Clarine Harp - Hibari Ginza
* Greg Ayres - Tsujido
* Bob Carter - Makabe
* Robert McCollum - Niihari
* Kent Williams - Dr. Ryogoku
* Pam Dougherty - Shinsen Tennozu

Since we can rule out all the women and--I'm ASSUMING--Chris Sabat...then that would leave us with this list of possible choices.

* Chris Ayres
* Greg Ayres
* Bob Carter
* Robert McCollum
* Kent Williams

Hmmm.....

Time to rule out even further. The person who was casted had to be in the dub of One Piece, Sgt. Frog and not in Full Metal Alchemist. So ruling out, here is who is left....
*Chris Ayres

So yeah, I am pretty sure it is him. No one else fit's the category.
