Bleh. You're right. Well, in terms of network television. Nicktoons would have their own standards. Being cable, they're outside of the jurisdiction of the FCC. But since this will also be shown on network television, it is being censored to those standards. That's rather what I meant to say.

Why they can't just created another version of Z Kai that's like this and another one gonna be air on Nicktoons!

My point is, even if NickToons started broadcasting in Asia, there's no guarantee that DBZ Kai will air on there. For example, NickToons U.K isn't airing DBZ Kai.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Ahhh.... yeah, what's your point?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:But still, only the NickToons in America is airing DBZ Kai.
Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*
From a business perspective there's literally no point in doing this. All you'd be doing is wasting money by paying someone to prepare two separate versions for TV instead of one.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Why they can't just created another version of Z Kai that's like this and another one gonna be air on Nicktoons!
God forbid someone has different ideas of what's appropriate for children then you. If you're so offended by it then just buy the Blu-rays or DVDs. On top of it restricting the potential audience the show could reach, showing it uncut would also give people no incentive to buy the home release. Why buy it when you can watch the same exact thing on TV for free?LeprikanGT wrote:I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with the topic but I am SO @#$%^&* tired of the censorship and soccermoms in this country.
Do you REALLY think kids don't know what blood is or haven't seen it before or haven't heard the word 'killed'?
So frustrating.

Oh, if anyone's wondering, the CW4Kids version will definitely be the same as this and the fact that it will be airing on TheCW4kids later is probably why there are so many cuts, NickToons is much less stricter.
For example, there is an episode of Spongebob where they think they have killed the health inspector and they said "Kill" and "Die" in it.

When it comes to the blood I agree with you just because Kai is already a LOT tamer then the original. The blood is usually a very small amount. I really don't think it's offensive, kids see that amount of blood when they scrape their knee. Of course all it takes is one kid that gets queasy incredibly easy to upchuck all over the cat. Yet they leave Tenshinhan's arm being lobbed off so...color me confused.LeprikanGT wrote:I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with the topic but I am SO @#$%^&* tired of the censorship and soccermoms in this country.

As for the word "die" I can somewhat understand this. I started questioning death when I was around 5, this show is meant for 8 year old babbys so that's all well and good. Although Nicktoons has shows like Spongebob which smaller kids can watch. Of course the problem with some parents is the TV is the designated baby sitter and they refuse to even check what's on before the plop lil' Billy in front of it so now 4 to 5 year old Billy is questioning mommy about death which she doesn't know how to tackle. Usually you have to be tactful in explaining this kind of thing. One wrong phrasing and you can scare your kid pretty good. Then again it's not overly difficult to invest a few hours carefully explaining it in a child appropriate way, thus going back to the baby sitter argument.
So it's pretty dumb but I can see where these regulations are coming from. All it takes is one idiot to ruin it for everybody.

No, Shonen series are produced for male teenagers, ie roughly between the ages of 10 and 18.Blue wrote:this show is meant for 8 year old babbys so that's all well and good.

Fucking zombie Jeebus not this again. The second series Shonen Jump Advanced was targeted towards late teenagers and early adults, therefore we can all assume the original Shonen Jump was targeted towards early teens and small boys.dan2026 wrote:No, Shonen series are produced for male teenagers, ie roughly between the ages of 10 and 18.Blue wrote:this show is meant for 8 year old babbys so that's all well and good.
Of course now the "MAH DARGONBALL IS HARDCORE IN MAAAH COUNTRY" people can jump in to tell me how they stepped into the Grand Tour and Rocked The Dragon or some shit, because nobody can just watch a kids show anymore.

You know, I never understood why exactly yellow blood was leaking out of Tien's stump when his hand was punched off
Can anyone explain this to me? Was it just for a dramatic anime effect?

I won't even begin to go into what's wrong with this post, and rather simply ask that you tone down the obnoxiousness a notch.Blue wrote:Fucking zombie Jeebus not this again.

Please go ahead though, I'm legitimately curious as to what is wrong with it. PM me if you don't want to tell me in this thread.Kaboom wrote:

Yeah, I've always thought it was just to highlight the blood by making it glow, but I did always think it was a bit odd.MetalMadness wrote:You know, I never understood why exactly yellow blood was leaking out of Tenshinhan's stump when his hand was punched off

Well in a nutshell, the distinction between "Shonen Jump" and "Shonen Jump Advanced" are, in fact, only in Viz's Western version of the licenses. An effort to divide things up based on perceived age-appropriateness. The original Shueisha magazine and the things it published had and have no such distinction.Blue wrote:Please go ahead though, I'm legitimately curious as to what is wrong with it. Which just goes to show even in an uptight area like the west Dragon Ball's audience are still considered children? I doubt they'd put it in Shonen Jump Advanced seeing as how One Piece and Naruto didn't graduate to it. Hell Naruto and One Piece are considerably more gruesome then Dragon Ball later on.Kaboom wrote:

Viz also edits these comics to fit under their normal 'Shônen JUMP' moniker.Blue wrote:Which just goes to show even in an uptight area like the west Dragon Ball's audience are still considered children? I haven't noticed many major edits in either or those series to drastically tone down the violence. To be honest I barely noticed it in Dragon Ball outside of 17's gun being edited out of a single panel.JulieYBM wrote:Viz also edits these comics to fit under their normal 'Shônen JUMP' moniker.Blue wrote:Which just goes to show even in an uptight area like the west Dragon Ball's audience are still considered children?
