Well, then we're gonna continue this topic in September. Kinda sucks but, there seems to be no way around it.DragonPiece wrote:Thank's Tanooki, I have been enjoying these so far. But when you get to episode 14, how do you plan on doing the script changes?

Judging from recent posts, I believe Goku100xKamehameha might be having computer issues...

No, I already figured it out and it's not me or my computer. back on topic!

Wow and I just got done saying at least they weren't drawing impact stars.
Overall though I'd say they're doing a pretty good job not going completely overboard with the censorship, some silly stuff here and there but it doesn't feel like I'm watching 4kids One Piece or Dic's Sailor Moon.

...uh...
How do they consistently get their names mixed up? I mean, in do they even watch the clips they upload? Nappa clearly calls Vegeta by name... How do they get the events correct, Goku and Nappa's names right, but still mess up Vegeta's name? I'm not "pissed", just thoroughly confused...

Slightly off topic, but I was watching the 2:30 AM Rocko's Modern Life, which airs right after the 2:00 AM Dragon Ball Kai repeat. In this episode, Rocko and Heffer go to a carnival, where a ride called "Elevator to Hell" is shown. It's not mentioned by name, but the sign next to the elevator, which says Elevator to Hell, is shown for a good 15 seconds. In a show rated TV-Y7.
Just goes to show that these Kai edits may not be an indication as to what Nicktoons allows, depending on the time slot. Others have suggested that the somewhat excessive editing is for the eventual TV airings on network television. Or, it could simply be the age-old discrimination between content in American animation and content in anime, since in anime, the censors are specifically looking for content to be "offended" by, whereas with American animation I guess they simply go over it broadly, figuring it was already made to American standards. Or Nicktoons simply took the old Rocko tapes and aired them the as-is, since it's from their own library.

Unfortunate isn't it? Now DBZ Kai has to conform to 4kids' silly censorship standards.ThunderPX wrote:Kai's already been confirmed to air on TheCW4Kids this fall. So... yeah.

It is, but I was saying that DBZ Kai got edited to the extent that it did not so much to conform to NickToons standards on censorship, but rather CW4kids'. FUNimation wasn't going to make one edited version for NickToons and another for CW4kids.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:I think it's censoring is the same on Nicktoons

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits!
Farewell, Piccolo. Goku's Furious Counterattack!

As the episode begins, Nappa is in the middle on blasting Gohan with a ki blast. This reaction shot of Gohan was cut out of the TV version...

Piccolo then jumps in front of Gohan, taking the blast head on. Any shot of Piccolo from the front is cut out.

When the dust clears we see Nappa. All the blood on his body is edited. Again, I'm not going to put up pictures of every shot of Nappa with his blood edited. Just know his blood is edited in mostly every shot he's in.

Then we see what affect the blast had on Piccolo... well, not if you're watching the TV version, most of it is cut out. The only shot we see of Piccolo standing after being blasted is this one...

This zoom out shot, where we really see what happened and know the situation is even worse now, was cut out...

Soon after Piccolo falls to the ground. This, and the dialogue said by piccolo in this scene were cut...

So, basically in the TV version we see Piccolo standing in one scene and then in the next we see this...

I think it actually looks sloppy. I don't think any cut so far has actually looked sloppy or messy but this, this is just weird when you watch it.
In the next shot, Piccolo's blood is colored green, that's a new one. Also a dialogue edit so, two pictures this time around...

Meanwhile, Goku is on his way to the battle field and can sense someone's power fading (Sorry, this shot looks like shit
)

Then we see Gohan and Piccolo again, this time it's OK to show Piccolo's purple blood! Well I guess maybe cause it's not that much?

Oh spoke to soon, it's edited again...

Piccolo tells Gohan how nice it was to have a friend, he thanks Gohan, turns his head and dies. In the TV version, Piccolo turning his head and dying is cut...

Oh it's OK to show Piccolo's blood again? Alrighty...

Gohan screams with anger, powers up and shoots a ki blast at Nappa. The attack is deflected and Gohan tells Piccolo's dead body he's sorry. In uncut version the camera pans past Piccolo's body and stops at Gohan. In the TV version there is no pan shot, just Gohan...

As the situation gets worse, we see Nappa slowly walking up to Gohan. Captain Obvious yells out...

As Nappa approaches Gohan he says...

Nappa lifts his foot to stomp Gohan, but right as he is about to, Goku shows up. How convenient. Goku asks Gohan what happened to Piccolo, Gohan replies...

The camera pans across the battle field showing the dead fighters. When they get to Yamcha, his blood is edited...

Nappa then says...

Nappa then tells Goku there was another fighter, but he blew himself up. Goku says to himself...

Nappa goes to attack, but Goku is somehow now over by Gohan and Krillin. Krillin tells Goku...

A few scenes later, Goku is ready to fight Nappa, he starts to power up, and at this point we get a commercial break. I realized today I never showed the bumpers Nicktoons uses in place of the original bumpers. Well, here is the Nicktoons version...

And now, back to the show. Nappa, now getting nervous seeing Goku power up, asks Vegeta...

Vegeta replies...

Nappa then yells to Vegeta...

I get the whole "joke" thing they were trying to do, but why did they need to change Nappa's lines. They kinda messed it up though. When Nappa says "Vegeta, what's the scouter say about his power level ?", that's in the original "Over 9,000" scene, not "Vegeta, what's wrong with you, tell me what his power level is !". It should have been switched. Oh well, no biggie I guess... ::shrugs::
Nappa then tries to attack Goku. Goku seemingly disappears and kicks Nappa in the back of the neck. In the TV version we got another one of those flash screen edits. It flashed a black screen, a white screen, then this...

Goku gives Nappa a little time to recover from the kick. Goku then runs towards Nappa disappearing then reappearing on Nappa's head. Goku jumps down and punches Nappa in the stomach. In the uncut version there are three different angles we see Goku hit Nappa from. In the TV version there is just one, from Nappa's back...

As Nappa tries to recover from this attack, he says...

Goku and Nappa go at it some more, Goku bashes Nappa's head for Chiaotzu, right when he makes contact we get another flash screen...

(Thanks to ShadowDude112 for pointing this out, I forgot this image in my photobucket when I originally posted this) Goku then kicks Nappa into a rock for Piccolo, when Nappa gets up he yells...

Vegeta decided Nappa isn't much of a threat to Goku anymore and tells Nappa to call it off so that he may have a chance at Kakarrot. The episode ends soon after that.

Hey, I think you missed the part where Nappa jumps out of the rock he was kicked into after Goku said "This one is for, Piccolo." Nappa says bastard. Was there an entire cut? Or did they change the line?
