yeah i agree with you!
and i think funi will releasing dragonbox z vol.4 with dragonball season 5 on 27. july
and i think also, that dragonbox z vol.5 and dbz kai part 2 release is on 14. september
and maybe dragonball movie 1 and db movie 2 get a double feature only DVD release with dragonbox vol. 6 on 28. december ...
dbz kai part 3 most probably then early 2011 ...
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Its not on Funimation's July solicitations so I'm pretty sure it'll be coming out in early August.Gotham22 wrote:and i think funi will releasing dragonbox z vol.4 with dragonball season 5 on 27. july
I also noticed something when I took a look through the RightStuf catalog: None of the Z or GT season sets are listed. (Hell, GT itself isn't even listed.) The Dragon Box and Kai are listed under Z, though.
They probably omitted them to save room but I just found it interesting to mention.

DragonBox Z, the Blue Bricks, and Kai are the latest a greatest Dragonball releases coming from them. It's more likely that Dragonball collectors are following the latest releases and that many people already have the Orange and Green Bricks.

"King Gourmeth"? What the hell? His Japanese name is グルメス (Gurumesu). Where are they getting the "t" and "h" from?

It's like in Mega Man Xtreme 2 when the pitiful localization team continually swaps "Gareth's" name with "Garess"..

I really don't know and I'm not going to try to make sense of it.Metalwario64 wrote: Uh... from "su"?
"Gourmeth" was apparently used in the first edited dub of the movie which I guess is evidence that FUNimation isn't doing their own dub of the movie, because otherwise they would've used a more correct name for the character.

You probably shouldn't criticise other people's ability to transliterate names just after you admit you have no idea what you're doing.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I really don't know and I'm not going to try to make sense of it.Metalwario64 wrote: Uh... from "su"?

I didn't say that. I just said I'm not going to try to make sense of why FUNimation transliterated Gurmes' name as "Gourmeth" as there are no "t" or "h" sounds in his original name.ThunderPX wrote:You probably shouldn't criticise other people's ability to transliterate names just after you admit you have no idea what you're doing.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I really don't know and I'm not going to try to make sense of it.Metalwario64 wrote: Uh... from "su"?

Re: Dragon Ball Season 5 and Blood Rubies in TRSI Catalog
Gourmeth is a perfectly valid transliteration of グルメス (Assuming the "Gou" is pronounced french-style, as in "Goo", that is) . Learn before complaining kthx. Also, remember FUNimation has a history of keeping old names dating all the way back the original Ocean dub (i.e. Tiеn, Friеza, etc), so this isn't unusual at all.

Okay, care to explain the "th" part then?Puto wrote:Gourmeth is a perfectly valid transliteration of グルメス (Assuming the "Gou" is pronounced french-style, as in "Goo", that is) . Re: Dragon Ball Season 5 and Blood Rubies in TRSI Catalog
Yeah. English "th" always ends up as "su" in katakana. Like how "Vermouth" would be pronounced "Baamuusu".

Really? I thought for it to be transliterated as "th", it would have to end in "tu".Puto wrote:Yeah. English "th" always ends up as "su" in katakana. Like how "Vermouth" would be pronounced "Baamuusu".
Also, "ou" in Japanese is pronounced "oh", but they probably went with "ou" to stick closer to the name pun of "Gourmet" (which I just realised).
Anyways, "Gourmeth" still sounds weird to me.

You've never heard "sanku yu"?

I have in Anime, where it's pronounced more like "sank yu".Metalwario64 wrote:You've never heard "sanku yuu"?
Re: Dragon Ball Season 5 and Blood Rubies in TRSI Catalog
There is no "tu" in Japanese at all, the closest to "tu" would be "tsu".Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Really? I thought for it to be transliterated as "th", it would have to end in "tu".Puto wrote:Yeah. English "th" always ends up as "su" in katakana. Like how "Vermouth" would be pronounced "Baamuusu".

Also, Gourmeth sounds like a really good adaptation, because the original word, "Gourmet", had a silent t, meaning it would be inexistant in katakana (so it would end up as something like gurume). The "su" kana was added but nothing was removed, so rendering it as "Gourmes" would have a removal that isn't present in the kana rendering. By rendering it as "Gourmeth", you keep the entire original word while adding an extra sound, just like in the katakana representation.
Yeah, I already mentioned that earlier...Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Also, "ou" in Japanese is pronounced "oh", but they probably went with "ou" to stick closer to the name pun of "Gourmet" (which I just realised).

Yes, I meant to say "tsu" (god, it's late).Puto wrote: There is no "tu" in Japanese at all, the closest to "tu" would be "tsu".
P.S In Kunrei-shiki "tsu" (つ/ツ) is in fact romanized as "tu" (but that's not what I meant before, just thought I'd point that out).
Re: Dragon Ball Season 5 and Blood Rubies in TRSI Catalog
Besides, the English "th" sound is closer to an "s" than it is to a "t", isn't it? And transliterating foreign words in Japanese is all about approximation; if there was a perfect equivalent to every sound, we wouldn't be having any of these discussions.

I like how the kid Kuririn art is reused as 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai Kuririn.SHINOBI-03 wrote:A scan from the most recent Shonen Jump isuue.
