September huh? Why not just do the next episodes without the dialogue edits and then add them later when it's September?

Eh, I thought of it, but it just seems annoying. Also, if did that, there would be a whole slew of reply post about the dialogue changes and by then we'd probably be 5 pages away from the images it's commented on. I'm just going to do this the right way and wait. Sorry.Strongbad456 wrote:September huh? Why not just do the next episodes without the dialogue edits and then add them later when it's September?

So has there been any physical contact at all? All I see are stupid as hell hit flashes in a cartoon about fighting.

This is a very interesting Topic Tanooki. And I am sure that it's hard work, and I hope everyone is appreciating it.
As for my contribution. I think cutting out the punches and kicks is ridiculously awful, these edits are worse then the old Saban days.
I gotta say though, as far as the uncut DVD release goes, I like that they aren't afraid to say hell and damn and so on, cause I always felt that "gosh" and "darn" sounded so terrible and out of place. I don't know a single person who says those, even when I was a kid nobody said that.
At the same time though, I feel sometimes they go a little overboard, and it feels like they are dropping the D-bomb and H-bomb, and K-bomb(kill) a lot more then necessary, even going as far as using them when the original Japanese didn't at all.

It is stupid, but it's not the most ridiculous thing ever. You may not see two frames of physical contact, but you know what happened. I was watching and I didn't really even notice. They do a decent job (well, most of the time anyway) of fluidly editing everything. There are a few sloppy fade away scenes... But it's still DBZ. All the dramatic tension is there. The script is fantastic. And the cool fireballs and Kamehamehas are entirely unedited.omegacwa wrote:As for my contribution. Just pointing all this out because we're focusing a lot on the terrible edits and ya'll are getting confused and frustrated over them. These edits are so that little kids can watch it without their overprotective parents shitting bricks. It's a good way to get these youngins into some great cartoons.

Yup. I said it before, you wouldn't really notice anything was cut unless you were looking for it or just knew the material really well. Sometimes those flashing screens replace a whole scene though, like when Goku went to punch Vegeta, we see him lunge toward Vegeta, a flash screen and then Vegeta's reaction to getting punched. Most of the time, like you said, it's only a few frames on animation. Either way, I think it's much better then this...Innagadadavida wrote:It is stupid, but it's not the most ridiculous thing ever. Yes, those are actual screen shots from the DVD. Shit, it looks so bad!
Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.13*
Are those from the Saban area?
Also, I didn't know those shots were only up for a second or so. I thought they were up for like 5 seconds. I guess I should read more.

Yep, after revisiting just how horrid those saban era censor-stars look, I respect the edited kai dub all the more.

I'd take an edited version on the TV anyday over no version at all, Kai looks so good, they're taking it a little to far with editiong out things though.

They were done by an overworked, underpaid college art student who was assigned to editing all of Saban-era DBZ by himself. He actually had a friend help him out because it was so much work and he was only a student.Blue wrote:My god what an awful, awful job.
Nowadays, whoever is doing the editing is probably blessed with experience, better technology, and probably a bit of help.

Really? If that's true I feel bad for that guy. Imagine what he had to go through. Well, I still think that these edits aren't bad, since it's the CW edit. But just a question for you guys, if this only aired on NickToons would there be less edits? Also, would you mind it only airing on NickToons or would you rather it be on both NickToons and CW?Kendamu wrote:They were done by an overworked, underpaid college art student who was assigned to editing all of Saban-era DBZ by himself. Ha ha oh wow, you can hear the deep resentment in his voice for this terrible job. Poor dude, you KNOW this is the last job he would want to be doing given the choice.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Is it the guy in this video?Kendamu wrote:They were done by an overworked, underpaid college art student who was assigned to editing all of Saban-era DBZ by himself. Edit: This looks like its ripped straight from a prototype version of The Office.

I'm gonna hope this is a useful pst and not just some necro post. Did anyone else notice that the NEP for episode 13 was edited a little bit? I did. But I can't exactly point out what exactly was cut.

It took me a while to realize you are talking about the next episode preview. Well, if it was or wasn't I wouldn't list it (well, not usually) I like to focus on just the episode. I mean if something is edited out in the preview or recap but not in the episode, I'll mention it.
