Dragon Ball GT "Abridged"

Episode 1: Ramen and the water you wanted!

This is the first episode of my DBGT Abridged series. As with the Death Note series, I made everything up as I went along. This time I have HQ footage though. Also, music from both Dragon Ball Z and GT (Japanese score, of course).

Voices:
SSJ4 Furanki: Goku (Kid, Adult), Uub, Dende, Popo, Pilaf, Mai, Shu, Shenron, King Kai, Pan, Lax Guy, Police Officers 1 and 2, Shooters 1, 2 and 3, Master Roshi, Chi-Chi and Gohan (Everyone)

Hopefully, it's funny, probably not though. Since I probably have a completely different sense of humor than most here.

Enjoy!

Also, if anyone would like to help with voices, I'll write down the lines I come up with to you. Other than that, I'll stick with all voices by myself. I don't consider myself good enough to do all the voices, but it's faster and easier to do, besides it's not serious so that helps too. I also know that some voices sound exactly the same. But, I don't care that much to differentiate them. I do these for fun. I only make them when I'm feeling it. I haven't felt the urge to make episode 3 yet. I easily could've by now. That also explains the probably unneeded swearing, I'm writing from my brain, so it's mostly improv and I have a lot of cussing in my speech. So, yeah.

Episode 2: That must be a Plot Hole...

This episode has a sort-of lengthy "Please support the official release." message.

Voices:
SSJ4 Furanki: Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Goten, Pan, Don Kia, Ledgic, Guy, Ryuk (Cameo), Giru, People Running Away (Everyone)

Enjoy?

I'm not gonna lie, I'm sort of reluctant to post this since it'll probably be, Oh my god this sucks, stop please.

But, oh well. This does seem to have the most views out of a GT Abridged though. Oddly, a bunch of others sprouted around the same time. So, if mine's bad, odds are their's are just as bad or suck even more.

Both videos are blocked in Japan (by FUNimation), oddly and randomly.

It was funny. Not ground-breaking but funny enough I'd like to see more.

You should also consider getting some other people in to help with voices. You do so many of them by yourself that they all sound SO similar. It is pretty impossible to come up with 20+ distinctive voices.

I'm not expecting groundbreaking (TFS style funny); but, alright. That's a step in the right direction (what I was hoping for).

The character I'd still wanna voice is Kid Goku, that's just fun voice to do, Giru (easy to do) too. Should I hold an audition thread here, or just go with the VAA for voices?

You should look in both places. That way you can increase the pool of talent you are drawing from.

Alright. Since I'd like for this to actually become better. I'll start setting up audition stuff right now.

There were editing problems, the voices really pretty dull and boring and it generally wasn't funny at all. I suggest you work with other people to improve the humour of the show, because that's what sets good and bad abridged series apart.

Don't do that, write a script beforehand, so you can see if somethings funny or not when you go over it in your head.

Okay, so for some improvements:
Scripting
Yeah, so do what I said above

Voice Acting
A strong point :D

Mixing
Add some sound effects and background music, most editing programs let you use multiple audio tracks

Editing
The footage was okay, I guess
Also, custom lip flap, it's easy to do and provides good results

Ps. TeamFourStar isn't 'groundbreaking', there's much funnier stuff out there, just gotta get your hands dirty

Good points. Actually, after Freeza Heika commented I decided I'm getting more voices on here and replacing a majority of them. But, yeah, I shall look for more writers too.

Whoo for Voice Acting!

Yeah, the mixing isn't too bad for only having access to Movie Maker only. But, I'll try to improve on that or get someone else's help for that, same for editing. TeamFourStar's is the only DB Abridged I know of that constantly makes me laugh. So, I found them groundbreaking. But, that's all just a matter of opinion at the end of the day.

Since I'll be bringing on more Voice Actors and writers, that shouldn't be a problem from now on.

I wasn't talking about Dragon Ball Abridged Series, I was talking about Abridged Series in General, watch some more and you'll see there's more than "LOOOOOL, it's funny because it's a reference to something I enjoy" type humor

Here's some me and Kaiser posted earlier:

Antfish's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Abridged: Definitely one of the best voice actors among us and one of the funniest writers.
http://www.youtube.com/user/AntfishTAS

Hbi2k's Berserk, Gantz, and Escaflowne Abridged: Two under his belt, on his third. Fantastic writer, though his production skills are somewhat lacking.
http://www.youtube.com/user/hbi2k

Big O Abridged: Funny, very offensive, and all around well written and voiced
http://www.youtube.com/user/SXAbridged

GuttedWrenStudios Mobile Suit Gundam Abridged
http://youtube.com/GuttedWrenStudios

DarkSideIncorporated's Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Abridged (Actually, the guy who voices Jaden in this does Jaden in some of LK's videos)

LordQuadros' Metal Gear Solid Abridged

Ah, I see.

Well, I'm going to set up 2 auditions right here.

Trunks and Pan as of right now. When it comes to the other characters I'll add them to here and accept auditions than. But as of right now I've planned to do this characters:

Major or Semi-Major
Goku (Kid/SSJ4)
Giru
Don Kia (Only around for Episode 3 at this point)
Ledgic (Same as Don Kia)
Baby (Child Form Only)
Yi Xing Long
Dolltaki (Lood's Creepy Doll Guy)

Not really major at all:
Master Roshi (Minor)
King Kai (Minor)
Freeza (Minor)
Vegeta (Minor until the Evil Dragon abridging)

It still seems like a lot; but, even most of the semi-major characters are around for 2/3 episodes at the most.
-----------------------------

But, here's the audition lines for Trunks and Pan, these lines are from episode 3, so I'm currently writing Episode 3.

Trunks:
Nevermind, Innagadadavida offered to play Trunks and I'm well aware of what his voice for him sounds like so, Trunks is taken care of.

Pan:
- You mean we get to leave? Jeez, this should've happened earlier. (Questioning and annoyed)
- Guys, especially you, are goddamn dicks! You are what you have, hmph...
- It's no wonder you have no girlfriend Trunks. (Snarky, snide, smartass, etc.)

I'm still up for playing Trunks. I'll record those lines for you, if you want. But you already know my voice for the character, and my level of acting talent.

Sweet, that solves that. And we've both improved in acting since the first attempt so, welcome aboard. I shall send the lines, when the script is done.

All well, now just waiting for a Pan audition. But, I'll go to the VAA for that most likely.

Watched episodes 1 and 2.

First thing, the opening. It's dull but I like the song choice. Shorten it a bit maybe and use more interesting footage to pump up the viewer.

Voices... you're going on a one-man show at the moment and given that your differation is decent but a lot of the delivery is flat. That'll improve when you catch your stride but it made these first two episodes a bit difficult to sit through.

Dialogue wise not all that funny. The gay jokes in episode two seem so pointless and the black gangsta character seems so barely emphasized that I question the point of going in that direction with the character.

I feel like there are moments where you had something good going but didn't really capitalize on it before moving on but the pace overall was quite a bit too slow and there was a lot of dead air.

And the characters are more or less who they've always been which is fine to a point but you've got to emphasize their more comical attributes aside from the obvious "Pan is lame and nobody likes her" types of jokes. Though Pan bashing is a must for GT parody so well done in that regard but I hope you push it much further in the episodes to come.

Dubbed over commericals CAN be funny but that seemed like a poor choice to have in the middle of your episode. As were all the "what's happening later" bits. Didn't make for a very amusing running gag.

Not a very strong start and given Dragon Ball GT has a wealth of material that's ripe for parody I was hoping for to see something a bit funnier but best of luck on future episodes.

I won't disagree. But, the dialouge and acting should improve with bringing on more people.

But, yeah, the reason I threw the "commercials" in was I actually didn't have the footage. My computer lacks the DVD drive right now and I wasn't able to find a ripper when I did. So, I have to resort to downloading footage off of YouTube.

I don't know why; but, the character I made sorta gangsta-ish, I was actually making an indirect tribute to WeeklyTubeShow. I don't know why I just did.

I also get your point with the Pan jokes. I've seen other GT Abridged and all it is, is bashing her jokes all the time and it's kinda redundant. So, I of all people understand don't do that all the time.

I think I may try out for a part. But I won't get my mic in the mail (old one broke) for another week or so.

Yeah, anytime you wanna try out for a role, it's fine.

---------------------------------------------------

This is a parody of the TV Special, originally I was going to finish the entire parody and split it accordingly, but now I'm going to release each part in about 9 minute increments.

I'm well aware the "Goku Jr.'s a pussy" was beaten into the ground more than a dead horse. But, with the original having him be ragged on for it, it was only amplified here. Probably not funny. But, I actually spent a lot more time on this than the initial Episode 1 or 2 before it.

I'm going to continue writing Episode 3 now that Part 1 of this is out. I started writing that and took a break to do this/other Dragon Parody Z videos.

Here's part one and is the setup basically.

Voices:
SSJ4 Furanki: Goku, Narrator, Goku Jr., Pan, Puck, Yuu, Youngster, Doctor, Nurse, Teacher, Trucker (Everyone)

Enjoy!

Part 2 will come eventually. Also, if anyone would like to help with voices for Part 2 and on feel free to.
