It was only one line but I liked it. I think it has potential. I look forward to hearing more.

I don't like it so far, though it's still better than Young's. Still, just one clip... I'll hold judgement until later, I suppose.

I guess I'm the only one who liked the new voice? It's very alien-like, and slimy just like Freeza should be. I can say Ayres is much better than Young in the role, and besides all we have heard is a line, and a laugh so far I think his voice will improve over time. It's not a travesty like Pokemon Season 9 was. Schemmel was right when he said it's creepy, and Sabat has done well choosing Ayres. I can understand how some can find that he sounds like Newstone's Freeza, but she was creepy and slimy too which suited him fine.

Not enough dialogue for me to properly form an opinion. I'll be able to decide after Monday's episode.
On hiatus.

I like it. It's fine. I think those who are "done" because they only heard one line of dialogue are overreacting.

I don't hate it. I never hated Ocean Freeza. On the other end of the stick, I was expecting so much more! Y'know, like how they changed Gohan!

I'm not raging, but it's hard for me to feel happy about this because I had super high hopes toward a new approach. For what Chris Ayres is going for, it's nice. For what I wanted, it's nothing that I was hoping for.

I think this is shaping up to further prove my argument that you don't need to copy the Japanese actor when adapting a character to English. I yearn to hear more, but I dug that fan clip of Newstone being pitched down. So with the right direction and dialogue, I could definitely seeing myself living with this. Still heaps better than the previous granny Freezas.

This is fucking shit. Why would FUNimation get our hopes up like this and then destroy them? And why the fuck would they replace her with a soundalike? Are they trying to make it consistent with her laugh in Episode 1? I'm fucking pissed, screw Kai.

I love this situation more then I love the voice itself, it played out like a Plinkett Joke.

"Looks like we're finally going to get a new and original take on Freez...oh, oh no."

I have nothing against a good Newstone impression though, bring it on Kai you keep things lively around here. I'm just picturing Sabat with a trollface saying "Problem Daizex?"

This is precisely how I feel. I was expecting a bit more of a departure, but I'm not enraged, just sort of disappointed.

But it was one line. I just have to keep repeating that to myself. It is my mantra until Monday.

So let me get this straight. They throw away an actress who's been playing Freeza for 11 fucking years? For someone just as unsuited for the role? What a fucking joke. I'm sorry, but I really had high hopes for the new Freeza voice. But that was an utter joke. So now Freeza sounds just as bad, except this time tons of Dub fans get screwed out of a voice that they loved?

Ayres' Freeza sounds like friggin Ezma from The Emperor's New Groove.

I have a feeling they'll take a 'forms' approach. I want to see Freeza's final form VS Goku with the new voice.

It doesn't sound bad so far, though I want to hear more.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

The Subbies are on a total 180 now as to when they heard there was gonna be a NEW voice.

We do have a new voice, and NO ONE said it was going to be a JP sound-alike.

Has an interviewer ever asked Sabat about Daizex before? I'd love to be in that conversation since sabat has 'that' soft of personality that I like about him.

Still don't like it... See Sabat for example was doing a good job with Piccolo cause he got used to the voice by now and was able to talk in a casual tone when needed and was also sticking to the script.

If they had kept Linda to also not be so over the top, lose the rasp, and stick to the script, she also woulda been awesome. I still didn't like her voice, but if we're goin for a damned sound-alike, then they shoulda just kept her.

I think this is very unfair to Linda because now ppl will be giving props to a better Bulma/Gohan and a more bad-ass Vegeta/Piccolo cause they're doing better acting and sticking to the script, while Linda Young will forever be remembered as the lame overly-flamey granny-Freeza because she was never given the chance to do the superior Kai-dub.

If he at least throws around a few "Ohoho's!" and some crazy Nakao screams, then I will be satisfied enough. The actual voice may be disappointing, but perhaps the performance is much better. Perhaps keep a similar voice for the dub fans, but overall a much more believable, accurate performance.

I will at least give it a chance, but now I feel kinda bad watching Kai because of Linda being booted off for what looks to be a very slight improvement so far.

I. can't. stop. getting. fucking. ninja'd!

I kinda agree. I mean, I was assuming that FUNimation would be above imitating Linda Young when, you know the real thing is right there... :?

Okay, this is a stupid comment. Seriously, some of you are going overboard here. You guys are the ones that set yourselves up for the disappointment, not FUNi. FUNi wasn't the one constantly teasing about something big happening or blowing Freeza's new VA way out of proportion. The lot of you were so desperate to hear something that wasn't Linda Young and expecting something much closer to Mr. Nakao's voice.

Not only that, but it's one line. Have any of you heard anything beyond the short, calm line? Have you heard when Freeza starts a conversation in a congratulatory mood and then switch rapidly into a furious mood? No? Then why base the entire thing off of simply ONE line that barely even scratches the surface of the character?

I too hated Freeza's woman voice. But come on, guys. You seriously can't be saying "FUCK THIS" just based off of 8 words.

Okay so Linda Young had 11 years to be the VA for Freeza... (which I really didn't like)
Yet.. you give this guy 1 line of dialogue and a laugh and say its a fucking joke?
I'm not trying to play Devil's advocate.. but it's ONE LINE (MAYBE 5 seconds).. Can't you give it more of a chance at least?
All I'm saying is can't we be a little more optimistic, rather than throwing this guy under the bus for 5 seconds worth of dialogue?
