No, but his Ocean voice was, and if Freeza's any indication, that's the direction they're going in, so maybe it's not out of the realm of possibility that he will be.

Voices in order I like them:

Jeice
Recoome
Burter
Ginyu
Gildo

Although Recoome is my least favorite character pletty much, it's got NOTHING to do with his voice.

This isn't Shin Chan, they shouldnt be trying to voice match across languages.

Hmmm...I dunno. I need to hear more, but...my initial reaction is not a good one. Still, that's my initial reaction, not my final review. I think it's important for everyone to keep in mind that he only said one line, and that we shouldn't just toss it aside for one line. But...still...the fact that I even have to remind people of that isn't a good sign.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

But they should match the personality, which Sabat's Recoome does anything but.

Yes, yes. Recoome is way more hilarious with that voice coming out of his mouth and is so much more interesting to me.

Recoome sounded like he should be wearing a hockey helmet previously. And before that, he was a bad Sylvester Stallone impression. It's safe to say he could use a new voice. He's not Rocky and he's not mentally handicap.

I third it. Don't have any hopes they'll actually have the testicular fortitude to try anything different even if they do change the actor, but I can hope.

All recoome looks like is a tall human with a mohawk, his VOICE is the only thing that kept me mildly interested in him.

I want him to sound like Rocky, and I want him to shout "Yo! ADRIEEEEEN!!!!!" as he pile-drives Vegeta into the ground.

Do you even know what the original character is like? You obviously musn't and have no respect for the original representation of the character both in the manga and the anime if you think that him sounding LITERALLY RETARDED is more interesting.

Hell, even WE'VE redone his character ENTIRELY for our show.

Having offensive stereotypical retarded Recoome will be enough for me to stop watching the Kai dub. That being said I fully expect for him to sound like one so more power to ya dubbies.

His VOICE and the manga don't really have any sort of connection. The JP VA took a guess at a voice and then FUNI did the same thing. Its not like theres notes in the back of mangas with little postits on what they sound like.

Voice actors do and will keep changing in the JP version of the show, that does not make it the 100% definitive on what a character NEEDS to sound like, its not the law that they are SUPPOSED to sound the same.

@Blue: a voice is enough for you not to watch a show yet you have people like 'Killa' with huge 1930's racist black lips and a boxtop with a fade in th back keeps you coming back for more?

First of all, calm down, second of all, what character does Recoome even have in the manga/JP anime? A guy that's really goofy despite his strength and does poses? His voice made that aspect way funnier to me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes the voices who the subbies seem to just despise. [Frieza & the ginyu force]

Well, first, this isn't a dub for the manga. This is the dub to the Japanese TV cartoon.

Second, while the English voice does not need to sound just like the Japanese voice, it is necessary to use it as a guide, and certainly can't be entirely ignored for the cheap thrill of casting a jokey "retard" voice for a character for no reason.

Honestly, you shouldn't be telling anyone to calm down. You become so defensive whenever someone criticizes the dub. If anything, you need to calm down.

Why should the JP be a guide for the US voice cast if the JP was just a guess at what they were going for.

There is the same script and it is being done by 2 different languages, niehter should have to guide by the other or check in on the other to see what to do.
