That's a nice cover. I am so trading in my Seasons 1 & 2 for that just for the cover alone since the contents are the same as the 2 bricks anyways.

It looks pretty... but pointless. Time will tell if there's anything special about this set worth looking into, I suppose.

Even though it's not the Dragon Box, that cover is sick.

Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Since I added up the running times of both Green Bricks, and got 1,520, and Rightstuf's listing says 1,600 minutes, so it's likely that the extra stuff to up the running time will be the Next Episode Previews, but that is just what I think.

Well, this certainly elicits a "Meh" type reaction from me, but I wasn't expecting anything else so it's a bit of money which I won't be parting with as quickly had FUNimation surprised us and actually gone with a Dragon Box release. While it certainly hammers home that it's a combination of the two GT season sets, they could have at least given it a more distinctive look rather than ape the appearance of the original sets.

At the very least, now it will be much easier for people who haven't gotten the season sets to own GT all in one block.

That is THE best brick cover of all.

Release date?

EDIT: How are they going to fit all the episodes in one package? & What do you think the spine art will look like?

I just started watching GT again. I have the funi singles of the whole series. When I popped in the first dvd of the lost episodes "saga" it had the original japanese intro, ending, eyecatches, and the next episode previews were only in japanese. I was so happy, then I popped in the next disc and "step in the grand tour..." anyone know why funi did this?
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

Lol I'll be honest. When people first mentioned that it was both seasons of GT together, I thought it would be the green bricks, together in a sealed plastic! As in both the separate seasons, just sold together under the shrink wrap stuff.

Are the next ep previews generally 1 minute and 15 seconds? Because if so, it's probably those, which is why they're charging the same price. IE: Complete series set is 90% of buying the seasons together, but 10% more expensive because of the extra. Result = 99% of buying the season sets. Save a whopping 1% AND get "lost footage?!" I'd fall for that marketing ploy.

I personally don't consider the episode previews anywhere NEAR important enough to re-buy the same show for. So there'd have to be something that's VERY special about this box for me to consider it.

No, they aren't even half that long. 64 previews would absolutely not make up an extra 80 minutes.

But I think everyone is reading far too much into the runtimes of both this and Dragon Box 4. In both cases, they simply add up to the number of episodes multiplied by 25 minutes (which is a nice number that Japan often uses, too), and it wouldn't be the first time FUNi's runtimes made no sense compared to previous releases.

I'll pick this up if they fix the timing on the dubbed "DAN DAN".

Did it bother anyone else that the song started a bit too early and threw off the timing of the whole opening? :?

Damn, that cover art makes me want to buy that set so badly. Anyways, does anyone think this is a Dragon Box now?

Madman actually already did this last year. :P It was actually pretty cheap but I didn't buy it. I'll probably be picking this up though as I don't actually own any of GT so this release is quite good for me.

Yes! This is all part of the plan. They put out this image that looks like their season sets. They send them to the stores. Then when you finally buy it expecting the season sets, you realize it's just an extra layer of wrapping and when you peel it all off you find the magnificent Dragon Box GT underneath. Tricky FUNi, trying to play us for saps. I see through you, though!

I don't know about that, but I remember it driving me crazy when DBZ season 2 (sigh... yes, I caved at one point and bought the damned thing two years ago) had its opening song out of sync for every single episode. Man, the only good thing that ever came out of that purchase was the access it gave me to comparison images for my Dragon Box review.

And now on topic:

BLARRRRRGGGGGHHH! What a waste of time! Thanks for nothing, FUNimation. Who the hell cares? Might as well renamed FUNimation Lucasfilm at this point for the amount of times they put the exact same product in a shiny new box and still manage to get people to buy it. Nope. Still holding out for a DBox. I don't care how many times they dress up the season sets in new clothes. I'm not buying them.
