"In my opinion, the voice performance for Dub Kai is just as good as the DBZ dub. That's why I'm probably the only person not drooling over it.
And I also dislike the important replacements, so that's a factor as well."
If he feels this way he should just not take part in the discussion, period. Instead of implying people are "drooling" over something that has no difference in quality. If you have nothing to contribute, stay away altogether.

There is nothing wrong with what he said. He was participating in the conversation and politely explaining his views. You're asking him not to participate because you disagree with him.
Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
Agree to disagree then, I took it as subtle apprehension toward criticizing the DBZ dub . I clearly explained this topic was for discussing the issue at hand. Coming in and saying "yall crazy, your drooling over the same dub, oh and I hate the recasts, bye" does not really add a whole lot to the conversation.
This thread has NOTHING to do with the quality of ENGLISH DBZ DUB, so he was being off topic. We're talking about Japanese DBZ primarily here, and how it stacks up to Japanese Kai. Including the Kai Dub, and how it stacks up to Japanese Kai.

I'm talking about the discussion, which is for people that acknowledge that the DBZ dub is awful. It's kind of important in order to take part in this discussion in the first place. That's the last I'll say on the matter, I don't want this topic ruined.jjgp1112 wrote: And I didn't even use "drooling" to flame everyone. What are you talking about?

And you should've clarified that you were talking about Japanese DBZ only.

On top of that, We'll also discuss how the dub actors compare to the Japanese Kai and scenes you feel they actually surpass the original. That's right you heard me (or eh, read me) , be it entire roles or just instances where the English performances are better than the Japanese."

That can go either way. And the sentence following that further justified thinking you also meant the DBZ dub.

The thread title name itself:DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
Had I thrown in vs. DBZ DUB then yeah sure, but so far your the only one that brought dub DBZ up, what does that tell you?
ANYYYYYYWAYYYYYYY!
DBZ vs. Kai: Ryusei Nakao as Freeza:
I'm gonna have to give DBZ the edge here, but not by too much. Something was a little off with Nakao's pitch at times, and his insane screams more often than not were a little on the diet side. But he will always be THE Freeza though, it would of sucked hard if he were recast in the Japanese version of Kai.
DBZ vs. Kai japanese recast: Ootomo Ryuuzaburou as King Cold: To be perfectly honest, this recast didn't bug me in the slightest. I adore Daisuke Gouri, but my love for his work in Dragon ball primarily falls on his role of Mr. Satan. Most of his other roles in the series are "burly guy voices", there honestly isn't much variation in his voices, despite being a talented guy.
The only recast for Gouri I'll be extremely fussy about is Mark, which goes without saying. Ootomo's Cold was perfectly fine, a deep booming voice for an otherwise throw away character. He sounded pretty damn near identical to Gouri's Cold, other than sounding more youthful.

Speaking of the dubs, anyone notice how the Kai announcer switches between goKU and GOku during the recaps?

He's been switching back and forth since episode one. I always get a big smile when I hear "goh-KOO".
I recall God saying "goh-KOO" in Movie One.

Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
Indeed, another of my pet peeves in the Kai dub. I LOVE it when the narrator gets it right...half the time.
Sabat seems to be the absolute worst in pronouncing Goku though. In the Kai dub, I remember instances where Vegeta, Piccolo, and Yamucha all said "GoOOku" during the Saiyan Battle. All that emphases on the "GO" sounds really obnoxious.

Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
If he's not gonna bother to stop the narrator from saying it "incorrectly" (and by that I mean CORRECTLY), then obviously they don't care about being consistent with their old pronunciation. If that's the case, then why not just take the time to just get them all right? They corrected Kaio-ken, didn't they? Ugh...

Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
Kai Japanese vs Kai dub {For dub,i only watched 13 episodes,since i dont have Nicktoons,i didnt include all voices}
Goku: Masako Nozawa vs Sean Schemmel
Winner: Kai Japanese
Mr. Schemmel really become much better actor since Season 3,and thanks to more accurate translation,i can see some Goku in him, but,Ms. Nozawa is still much better Goku for me
Gohan: Masako Nozawa vs Colleen Clinkenbeard
Winner:Kai dub
Ms. Nozawa is pretty good at Gohan, but it was Ms. Clinkenbeard that stole my heart, when you hear her,you think "four year old boy" both when Gohan dont fight, and fight
Bulma: Hiromi Tsuru vs Monica Rial
Winner: Kai dub
When Bulma is angry,i cant hear it in Ms. Tsuru voice, while Ms. Rial sound great, both as genius girl who care for her friend, and selfish bitch
Nappa: Tetsu Inada vs Phil Parsons
Winner: Kai dub
I didnt like Japanese voice replacement, plus, Mr. Parsons acting remind me Abridged Nappa, with is awesome
Vegeta: Ryô Horikawa vs Chris Sabat
Winner: Kai dub
I'm sorry to say it,but Japanese Vegeta sound really awful{Like i said in other threat,he sound like he smoke pack of Marbolo} he cant scream,i cant feel his anger,Chris Sabat Vegeta is cocky, arrogant and cruel, the way it should be
Piccolo,Radditz,Kuririn{And other characters}: Tie {Both English and Japanese version are very good,sorry,its hard to explain,voices just match character}
Conclusion: When i first begun to watch Japanese Kai,i was really dissapointed, not only most redrawn scenes look awful, but even voice performance was worse then Z,that maked me stop watching Kai regulary, after 30 episodes, with English Kai however,i started to really enjoy Kai,Blu-ray version really make all these scenes look much better,i like every voice so far, and,i cant wait to watch more English dubbed episodes

I'd agree with you, but there's nooooo way Sabat is better than Horikawa, but in the Z Kai dub he's still much much better than before so it's close.
Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
I agree, I doubt he ever will be, however, I felt he at the very least delivered certain screams better than Horikawa did in Kai.The Time Traveller wrote:I'd agree with you, but there's nooooo way Sabat is better than Horikawa

Re: Vocal performances: DBZ vs. Kai vs. DUB kai
Hm, I actually like Horikawa's Kai performance. True, there are differences between this performance and the past, but there are certain aspects that he added in the Namek exploits which I really liked, particularly the desperation in his voice. When he gets frustrated, he cracks pretty bad sometimes and conveys it very well in my opinion. On the flip side, I think his voice has lost some intimidation in return for that desperation. So basically he took a step forward, then a step backward.
Also I was wrong about Sabat. He doesn't seem to have stepped up his game much at all unfortunately. :/
He sounds exactly the same as his sub-par performance in the remastered version of the dub since landing on Namek. Seriously, why can't he just do what he did in the initial dubbing? He was by far better back then. Now his voice makes me cringe, and don't get me started on his performance with Piccolo so far.
