That's kinda impossible to do in American. Every time I imagine that snooty laugh I hear it in a foreign sounding voice.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Naga's dub actress in Slayers did it well enough.

I dunno, I could swear I've heard that laugh pulled off right somewhere else. Just can't remember where.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
All of Freeza's lines in audio-only format.

I am not loving Dodoria's new voice. Freeza sounds okay but I'm not hearing anything Young couldn't pull off with a little effort. Kuwi sounds awesomely slimy when nervous.

I'm inclined to agree here. Her voice was just more feminine.

I don't mean to sound stand-offish, but there is a very distinct difference. Freeza's voice, as done by Ayres, is now obviously a male and not an old woman. No amount of direction could have changed that for Young.

Furthermore, that pitch and tone are two things I just don't think Young could act with. She has a distinct and hard to control rasp. When she does manage to hide it, she's left sounding like a meek old lady where this sounds more alien than anything. He's cut back heavily on the rasp and he deepens it where it's needed. Honestly, this is not a voice I think Linda could do and neither did Sabat.

Actually, Linda Young's voice is really aggressive. It just sounds like a raspy woman, not an old woman.

In other words, not like Freeza should sound.

I'm sorry, but she's John Burgmeier's mother. As in, she is the mother of an adult, and was at least 10 years ago when they started the first Z Dub.

She IS an old woman, so she actually sounds like one.

Um, I'm not doubting that she actually is old...BUT SHE DOESN'T SOUND OLD WHEN SHE'S PLAYING FRIEZA.

See? All caps.

YES.

YES SHE DOES.

And really, this argument amounts to nothing. It needs real examples, which... I'm sure most of us are either understandable too lazy to find or have better things to do.

Well, I never disliked the voice to begin with. I still think it sounds reminiscent of Newstone, although less so now that he's been given more to say. But I am enjoying it. I was never especially put off by his predecessors, but I do think this is a step in the right direction.

Goddammit, if YouTube didn't take down every fucking clip I'd post the episode where Frieza attacks the village for proof. Just watch it for yourself. Although I doubt anybody on the opposition is actually interested in doing so.

These Newstone comparisons REALLY have to stop. Really, if people are so bent on hearing another voice in Chris's Freeza then HERE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su-HZH3U1Bo

The new Freeza sounds a lot like Dr Octopus from Spectacular Spiderman. Not that that's a bad thing at all.

New Freeza's calm voice sounds pretty cool but I'm reluctant to call it a ground breaking performance. But as a said I'll come back with a DEFINITE opinion once I hear him taunt some Namekians, that one scene sums up Freeza perfectly to me so if he can pull that off exceptionally well I'll be happy.

As for Zarbon it's pretty cool, I actually liked Sabat's Zarbon but the less Sabat roles the better. I'm so glad he's cutting down.

This is her PLAYING an Old Woman.

It doesn't sound much different, the only difference is that her Freeza is more arrogant than her Genkai, but the voice itself is actually dead on the same.

No. No they don't. They're opinions, and people are just as entitled to have them as you are entitled to yours. So... no.

There is a clip on Nicktoons site of this, but it might not be the exact scene you are referring to. Also, now the clip keeps redirecting me to random episodes of Kai...
