That's also probably why she was cast to play Al in FMA Brotherhood.KaiserNeko wrote: Gotta admit, it sounds like a little boy!

Whitehead has been doing a great job as Alphonse in FMA: Brotherhood.

If thy can't get Laura Bailey back for Kid Trunks that will suck, but if Maxey Whitehead is chosen for Kid Trunks I won't complain as she is great as Al, and sounding great as Dende. I'm really worried more about Kara Edwards though as her Goten & Videl were some of the better voices in the dub.

I remember that in a video on YouTube, Laura Bailey called Dende a panzy, so she probably wasn't too attached to him. XD
I wouldn't mind her coming back as Trunks though

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I highly doubt Bailey is going anywhere when it comes to Trunks, as she's been in plenty of recent FUNimation stuff. I guess no one saw the need to get her a plane ticket from California to Texas for a minor character like Dende.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Ehhh, I don't know why Sabat feels the need to put such strain on Vegeta's voice, it's pretty annoying if you ask me. Vegeta, to me, is a character who's supposed to be wild and unmanageable at this point of the series, but Sabat's straining and deepening of the voice makes him seem much too calm and calculating for my liking. It's like the voice is devoid of excitement or intense emotions as I tend to think Vegeta has running through his mind, it really bothers me.jjgp1112 wrote:http://nicktoons.nick.com/videos/clip/d ... lip-2.html
Sabat's pretty awesome in this.
He seemed a lot better in the fight with Goku to me, but then for some reason since landing on Namek, Sabat has gone back to his old performances of the remastered release.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
But Vegeta is calm and calculating. Sabat oftens says how much Vegeta is "always angry" but the fact is...he isn't.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
He's only calm and calculating in the Namek saga. After that he turns into an idiot who's prone to bitching when he doesn't get his way.JulieYBM wrote:But Vegeta is calm and calculating. Sabat oftens says how much Vegeta is "always angry" but the fact is...he isn't.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Calculating? Yeah, I agree, but calm? The whole time on Namek Vegeta came off as a very wild and uncontrolable, not to mention untrustworthy character. That just doesn't seem to be an element that Sabat is conveying very well. The only times I thought Sabat got it right was in his initial voice when Funi took over Ocean studio's duty of dubbing the series. From the remastered version on, for some strange reason, he puts this deepening voice on Vegeta that really doesn't suit the personality at all if you ask me.JulieYBM wrote:But Vegeta is calm and calculating. Hmm. I admit I enjoyed that. But it's causing me to wonder. Is FUNimation still doing their, "Make everyone talk during establishing landscape shots even when no one is supposed to be talking" bullcrap? I was getting that impression with that scene.

No, not at all. In fact, they don't even talk in flashbacks that had no talking in the Japanese version, unlike their Z dub which always had talking when mouths were moving in flashbacks, even if they weren't in the original. The same also goes for recaps and next episode previews.Gaffer Tape wrote:Hmm. I admit I enjoyed that. But it's causing me to wonder. From what I can tell they are only talking when there is talking in the Japanese version, except for the Narrator's "next Dragon Ball Z Kai" he always adds in.

Wouldn't Laura already be in Texas for Lust in FMA Brotherhood anyway though? So I don't see why that should be an issue.KaiserNeko wrote:Also, the reason Dende was recast is because his original actress, Laura Bailey, moved to California. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Okay, well that's good. I'm glad they've finally gotten over that compulsion. I obviously wasn't spot checking between the two, but it just looked like they were adding in dialogue. What with FUNimation's overabundance, I guess it's sometimes hard to remember that sometimes the original version occasionally had people talking off-camera, and not as a device to curb the paranoia of people changing the channel in droves when there isn't a lot of noise.
