Re: Episode #0223 (20 June 2010)
I like the idea of King Cold having less restrictive forms than Freeza, but I think it could also be explained by him just being flat-out weaker than Freeza. I mean, if his son is stronger than him, then maybe he feels a need to reside in what is probably a stronger form (what appears to be his second compared to Freeza's first) than Freeza's. Also, it looks more menacing than Freeza's first form, and most of the universe had only seen Freeza in his first form. That way, he looks perpetually better than his son. I don't know, but maybe Cold just had some sort of a complex.
Re: Episode #0223 (20 June 2010)
Like ThunderPX said, it's probably because he was in a "restrictive" form instead of a "boosting" one. Coola was losing power as he died, while Cold certainly wasn't going to gain any...Puto wrote:But if that's so, why didn't King Cold "detransform" to his birth form when Trunks blew a hole through him?

Dislike Madman? Without Madman, there would be no Anime in Australia.GFGuldo wrote:I do very much dislike madman... i have the fat packs.. but they annoy me because they don't match the rest.. sucks. if i knew they wouldn't be released i wouldn't of got the orange bricks here and imported them as well. damn Australia and its not being AmericanessPiccolo Daimaoh wrote:Madman won't touch Blue Season Sets with a barge pole. Alright I dislike the fact that they don't release what I want here and make it hard for me.
But oh well at least i can save money and not buy dragon ball I kind of already have.
I'll probably end up getting the blue bricks in when I order the Dragon boxes
I Like spending Money on Dragonball

On King Cold, I believe the anime is the only thing that attempts to address his power in the series. I haven't seen the guidebook stuff you guys mentioned. I think the manga is vague. In the anime, Vegeta has a brief inner-monologue assessing the situation, as refers to Cold's ki as being larger than Freeza's. But then, Gohan later explains to everyone that Freeza can get much more powerful than what they were sensing. My friends' and I actually used to have a theory that King Cold used a "second" form because it looked intimidating and was all he needed. If he was anywhere in Freeza's 4th form range while only in second, his fourth form's power would be off the charts. The lessen we took was that his foil was arrogance and laziness, and Trunks was illustrating the importance of finishing an enemy quickly rather than letting them gloat and power up. I mean, if he was weaker than Freeza and only in a second form... wouldn't that make his power less than 1 mil when he landed on Earth? Vegeta and Piccolo (and maybe Gohan) would have been commenting on Freeza and that other guy who thinks he's people, not wigging about the two badasses of comparable power.
OH! I don't think you guys mentioned this, but what about HOW Freeza powers up? His second form is just his first getting larger. His third form was further growth from the second (in a more bestial manner). But his fourth form broke out of his third as if it were a cocoon. It stands wholly apart from what came before. His third form broke away from him to get to his fourth in much the same way Coola's fifth form broke away when he reverted at the end of movie 5.

Yeah, that's filler.ThunderPX wrote:The first three just seem to warp and bend his existing body, but when he transforms into his final form, we see cracks appear in his body, then BOOM! Final form Freeza. (Unless that was filler, but hey, Coola is completely filler so it doesn't matter.)
In the manga, Freeza rather matter of factly refers to himself as being the strongest in the universe right in front of Cold, who seems to have no objections.Onikage725 wrote:On King Cold, I believe the anime is the only thing that attempts to address his power in the series. Nono, don't misunderstand. I'm not challenging the notion that Freeza wasn't presented as stronger. The manga says nothing on Cold (that I recall), and then later has Gohan imply that Freeza, scary as he is, is still dogging it. So even with the anime having Vegeta say Cold is stronger, that's an immediate surface scan. Gohan's statement comes later. And he was around when Freeza was at 100% power longer than Vegeta.
As for my theory, I was just throwing it out there. Not trying to push it as "truth." Though, if it was, he certainly wouldn't be the first proud father to play it low-key so his bragging kid could feel special. What do we expect him to do, tap Freeza on the shoulder in the middle of his boasting and threaten to transform and bend him over his knee? One could also argue that if Lord Freeza and/or Lord Coola were stronger than a natural-form King Cold, they'd probably just off him and fight amongst themselves for the King moniker. Given King Cold's general lack of caring when Freeza died, it isn't like they had a terribly close relationship to stop something like that from happening. Maybe Freeza did plan to do that, and wanted immortality as an ace in the hole. Much like Vegeta, another guy who wanted immortality to topple the boss man, and who often declares himself king shit of fuck mountain even if it isn't necessarily true.

Wheeeee! I got a bit behind, so I just finished listening to this tonight. I was sort of zoning out, reading the forums, when I suddenly stopped and screamed with excitement. I called my roommate over and made her listen to Mike giving props to my video.
Yes. I realize I am lame, but I will take whatever glory I can get. ^_^
