"Ginyu Force, go! Ginyu Force, go!" sounds more natural and fits notes better.

Easy. Make it happen.
It should be "Geee-nyu", not "Giiiin-yu". Can FUNi please pronounce Ginyu correctly this time?

I wasn't aware there was a difference between "Giiiinyu" and "Geeenyu" at all.

It's not pronounced in Japanese like the "gin" in "begin", but more along the lines of the "in" in "bring".

It all comes back to how "vowel" sounds are supposed to be pronounced in Japanese. As per my favorite little Japanese dictionary:
Langenscheidt Pocket Japanese Dictionary wrote:Japanese has five basic vowels, usually referred to as short vowels. Which are romanized as a, i, u, e, and o. these are pronounced approximately like the "a" in "father," the "ee" in "feet," the "oo" in "mood," the "e" in "met," and the "o" in "fort," respectively. they are all pronounced in a relatively short, clipped manner in contrast to the so-called long vowels, which are produced by drawing out the sound of short vowels to approximately twice their normal length. In the hepburn system, the long vowels corresponding to ā, ū, and ō. The hepburn system writes the long vowels for i and e in two ways: in words borrowed from languages other then Chinese, they are written with a macron as ī and ē; otherwise they are written as ii and ei, respectively. (The actual pronunciation of ē, or ei, varies considerably: some speakers pronounce it as an elongation of the short vowel e, others as a sequence of the short vowels e and i.)

I wasn't aware that "begin" and "bring" had different i sounds to begin with. I mean, I think some people pronounce it "breng", but I was under the idea that "bring" was the normal pronounciation.

Wait. I think you're confused.

Begin as in Bee-gin, like an Inn or Inside or Interior. Bring as in Breeng, like Bee or Before.

Ginyu should be Geenyu. Like Bring, Breeng. Ginyu, Geenyu.

Ginyu, Geenyu, sounds almost exactly the same when pronounced fast anyway.

Agreed. Although FUNi really won't be bothered to change it.

I'd RATHER they pronounce it correctly, but it's not even a small problem if they don't. I'd just like accurate representation.

#24 is up on the Nicktoons Site. Sabat still makes my ears and throat bleed. I'm dissapointed that Tatum used a 'monster voice' instead of just Eneru-ing it up (which is a much more fierce voice).

Aaarrgghh! Why didn't you warn me Kaio was in this episode? I know I should have seen it coming, but that hideous voice takes me by surprise every time. Makes me want to vomit! I guess I'm too used to Yanami for this, but I honestly did scream in shock when, after I was minding my own business watching Goku train, that bloated high-pitched lard voice appeared out of the aether!

Sorry. You'd think with myself reacting the same way I'd be able to mention it. Then again, maybe I just block it out every time I stop hearing it?

I do have to say that Zarbon's new voice is full of sexy. Much better than what came before.

Just watched Zarbon kick the crap out of Vegeta. Everytime they turn the blood into mud or whatever, I still think it looks like someone spilled chocolate milkshake all over themselves.

What the hell happened to Sabat's Yamucha in this episode? It was almost as bad as in Z again.

And, of course, Schemmel's Kaio is just cringeworthy.

It sounded fine to me. The only thing that stood out to me was his "Yo! Goku!" and when he said "dude!" once, but those were just the script and wasn't nearly as bad as "Yo dude! You da bomb!". He didn't sound surfer at all when he delivered those lines, and there isn't really anything wrong with saying dude, since it's still a somewhat relevant term in modern dialect at least, as opposed to "da bomb!" and "mondo cool!".

I also love how Goku said "If I wanna be strong enough to take on... whats-his-name, then I'm gonna hav'ta train harder!".

Yamcha certainly didn't have any dumb lines, but he had lost his surfer accent in the Saiyan Arc. Now he has it again.

If Yamcha were a more major character I'd care a bit more.

I just looked on DB Wiki (okay, not the best place) and it says that Enel (J. Michael Tatum) is doing his voice. Is that true?

I warned you about judging his Yamucha early. Still I wouldn't say it was that bad, though I wasn't very impressed either. Why did Sabat even bother to keep Yamucha for Kai? With all the filler cut out there's little the character does anyway, meh, they should of recast with an actor that had a Ted Cole quality to his voice.

Piccolo still remains Chris Sabat's most well acted, consistent, and closest to the spirit of the original performance in the Kai dub. One thing I will point out about his Vegeta in today's episode though...

Sabat's Vegeta came eerily close to sounding EXACTLY like Horikawa for only afew seconds. Check out out When Monster Zarbon has Vegeta upside down, just before he sends him to his watery "grave". Listen REALLY close to Vegeta's struggling in pain sounds.
Mewzard wrote:I loved how excited Goku sounded when he talked with the others, so child-like and enthusiastic.
Fully agreed, Sean captured the spirit of the original performance there for sure.
