Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Well, that's nice to know. I have a gashapon that looks like that first set that's ugly as hell and I would have sworn was a bootleg with its awful sculpt, but apparently they're all that ugly. And since I know anyone'd wonder- I bought it at a store and it was near the back of a case where I couldn't see it clearly, just that it was a Piccolo. Didn't realize how hideous it was until I had already left and taken it out of the bag =_=Mike wrote:They're not bootlegs. Thanks for the info, Mike!Mike wrote:They're not bootlegs. The figures SuperSaiyan3Goku posted pictures of are from Series 3 of Megahouses DragonBall Scene collection. The figures you posted pictures of are from a newer series from the same collection. (I forgot the exact series number but it's something like 20 or 21) Megahouse has gone back and remade many of the older scenes with new, more detailed sculpts. I own both series and took some comparison pics awhile back:

But, if the one's SuperSaiyan3Goku posted are older, then how come they're a lot more available at online retailers than the new ones?
That's kind of why I assumed they were newer, because I can hardly find the ones I posted available anywhere, while the orange box ones are all over the place.

I figured this might be a good place to ask, waaaaay back in my early fandom my buddy and I used to enjoy building these plastic Dragon Ball models. The clothes were really hard to get on. Does anyone know the name of these things? I'd love to build a few with my buddy for old times sake.

That's because FUNimation made a deal with Megahouse/Bandai to distribute Series 1-4 of these in the United States. They were selling them at Sam Goody and Suncoast stores for awhile. You'll notice that the ones bought from rightstuf will have Funimation's logo on the packaging as well as an English safety warning.fig404 wrote:Thanks for the info, Mike!Mike wrote:They're not bootlegs. They were probably Irwin Toy's DragonBall Z model kits. Similar model kits were also released by Bandai in Japan and AB in Europe. The rubber clothes are incredibly hard to get on but a trick I learned was to run the cloths under water and while still wet they're easier to slip on.Blue wrote:I figured this might be a good place to ask, waaaaay back in my early fandom my buddy and I used to enjoy building these plastic Dragon Ball models. Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
I have a few of these. They were little blind box figures (as in, little figures that come in a solid package that you can't see inside) that came with a little piece of candy (usually a chalky little piece of 'ramune' flavored candy). I don't think they were supposed to be painted, since they seem far too small for that to be practical. Here's a picture of the ones I have:jordanator wrote:This may not count as a purchase, but can anyone tell me what this is?
I found it one time, when I was a child. It had a base, but it got lost, years ago. I recently rediscovered it, and improvised a new base (out of random discs,I think they are called tazo's?). Lol, I know, it's not that good.![]()
Anyhow, I expect that you paint it. Anybody know what it is?
*snip pics*

It was a series with just DB figures, rather than DBZ. I don't remember the name of the series, since I don't have the packaging for them anymore. They were released at least 7 or 8 years ago.

There actually 2 covers of the Kanzenban, the first is the dust jacket, the second is a white paper with the sketch of the cover.Choice195 wrote:Are the Kanzenban pages glossy?Captain Awesome wrote:My golden warrior art-book and Kanzeban 6-10 arrived in the mail today.

No, I'm talkin about the acutally pages themselves. Are they rough or glossy?Goku100xKamehameha wrote:There actually 2 covers of the Kanzenban, the first is the dust jacket, the second is a white paper with the sketch of the cover.Choice195 wrote:Are the Kanzenban pages glossy?Captain Awesome wrote:My golden warrior art-book and Kanzeban 6-10 arrived in the mail today.

While I was at SGC 2010 I got Dragon Ball: Shen Long No Nazo for the Famicom for $10. I got Super Butoden and it was going for $30 but the guy said if I gave him $16 which is all I had at the time, he'd give it to me since he wanted it off his hands. I got Ultimate Battle 22 for around $11 so we can just round it to that. I got Legendary Super Warriors for $7. I got this cool Goku figure that was $10. I got the Jump Super Stars postcard book for $2 also.

Placed an order for S.H. Figuarts SSJ Goku. It looks awesome, I don't know why I didn't pick up sooner. I'm going to pick up Piccolo next then preorder SSJ Gohan. Can't wait for Vegeta.

They're matte, but trust me it's fucking beautiful to behold. The richness of the blacks is intense, it just looks so right the way they're printed. They wouldn't look better glossy.Choice195 wrote: No, I'm talkin about the acutally pages themselves. Are they rough or glossy?
