Help me decide what I should spend money on (yeah I'm sorry)

Post by Blue » Sun Jul 04, 2010 12:03 am

I know a LOT of you guys are getting sick of "decide what I should buy" threads but there are a LOT of Dragon Ball CDs out there. I already bought the Dragon Ball Z Complete Song Collection Box which complicates things a little seeing as how it has a little of everything on it. Would it be smart to buy another box set, or should I go for the single CDs? I love background music, insert and image songs so I'm not picky. I just need more Dragon Ball music. I've browsed through Daizex's CD guide and was having trouble figuring out exactly what would be the best bet.

You definitely want the Dragonball & Dragonball Z Daizenshuu (for the DB vocal songs, DB BGM, DBZ BGM, and movie BGM). Also of interest might be the Dragon Ball Z Complete BGM Collection (to further complete your DBZ BGM collection), the Ongakushû - Volumes One and Two (to ever FURTHER complete your DBZ BMG collection), and there's all the video game music CDs ('cause Kenji Yamamoto is awesome!).

You're welcome. I changed my message a bit, but it's pretty much the same. Same CDs anyway.

Oh! And you probably won't be able to find the Daizenshuu set outside of Yahoo! Japan Auctions (aside from the endless bootlegs of eBay). It's a rare, expensive set, but you managed to buy the freakin' 13-disk monster of a set, so I think you'll be able to get it. Lol.

Guess that's true. I had my mind set to "old school mode". In that case, there's also the anniversary movie (AKA DB Movie Four) OST (if you like DBGT music).

Another question is where do you can get all of these? some of these already rare, like that Daizenshuu.

If you want DragonBall image songs, (DragonBall as in the bit before Z, I'm assuming you mean) then a good CD for that would be "DragonBall Zenkyokushuu", which you can find on CDJapan, I believe. It's where I got it, and where I get my music for translation.

If you can find it, I suggest the Ongakushū (Background Music Collection) Volume 1. It's a personal favourite of mine since I love Kikuchi's score for the movies and the CD contains a good part of it (a lot of it is unreleased, BTW).

You mean the one that's just the DB vocal songs? He wants all types of music, so the Daizenshuu set would be more beneficial to him. It's the ONLY way to get as many DB BGM tracks as possible, since the Dragonball Ongakushû only has 12 BGM tracks, while the Daizenshuu set had 25.

Point taken, though at the same time, I did specifically say "image songs".

I noticed that, but buying that Dragon Ball Song Collection would make the price of the Daizenshuu seem even more expensive, since you'd already have a good chunk of the music on it.

True. Still, I was just suggesting something in case he wanted just image songs. I think I missed over the part where he said he wanted to have as much of the available options together in one go.

There's also the three-dsc DBZ Complete BGM Collection, which has pretty much all of Kikuchi's score used in Z.
