Do you guys enjoy the LOG series? I absolutely adore them myself. The first one sucked sure but 2 and 3 made such vast improvements over it. Hell even the dub music was rearranged to be pretty awesome. The only major flaw I can find with these games are how easy they are. Boo's Fury is especially mind numbingly easy. I never even found a use for the block button.
I love how they fit the movies into a canonical part of the story too. (Although I never played the game enough to battle Coola myself.) The sprites were REALLY well done, it's amazing how much expression they could fit on those little guys.
What are the chances of a sequel? Probably pretty thin, I mean the last one came out years ago. I would have loved to play LOG GT. Oh well, maybe some day someone will develop a fan game or something I can enjoy.
(Also a question to VegettoEX if he stumbles upon this thread, Marri mentioned she liked the LOG series herself on the podcast didn't she? How did she feel about the rearranged bgm?)

We actually mentioned Legacy of Goku 2 on the podcast episode that will be coming out later tonight (#0224)... so look for that little conversation ^_~.
I never played the first game (outside of maybe two minutes on a friend's copy in college), so I can't say much about it. I hear it's terrible, and that the sequent games improved upon just about everything.
If I remember correctly, I picked up the second game for something to play on the flight to and from Anime Weekend Atlanta that year (which was... what?... 2003?). I did just about everything in the game, including that extra fight with Coola on Namek (I'm thinking about the right game, correct?). It's been seven years or so, unfortunately, so I don't remember everything about the game very clearly... but I know I had a fun time with it. I liked the little customizations, splitting up the characters you play as for the story, etc. It's too vague in my memory to say much more about it at this point.
As for the music, it's kinda funny how Faulconer's stuff works better as lo-fi gaming music more than for the show itself. It's so hollow-sounding and soulless that it translates more to a background score for an interactive game where it's so much more passive of an experience. It neither enhanced the game nor served as a detriment to it.
The game series definitely had a bunch of love put into it. That special feature on the DBZ Movie 8 single from FUNimation shows Webfoot really loved what they were doing and took pride in it. All the fun little touches in the script that were blatantly self-aware (such as the "I am the instrument of your defeat!" for Gogeta in Buu's Fury) really helped give it the charm it needed.

Buu's Fury was amazing! It even had fusion in it, but I preferred Shin Budokai 2 over the LOG series any day, so I'm glad they moved on.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force
If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure
If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me

Erm, where those the same developers? I'm pretty sure those games were made by two different teams and just had the same publisher.
Also Shin Budokai 2 is one of my least favorite DBZ games ever (not the worst just my least favorite) so I'll have to disagree with you there.
Also I'm looking forward to the podcast tonight EX! (I look forward to it
every Sunday though to be honest.)

I really enjoyed this series as well. The first one wasn't very good, but like others said, the next 2 made necessary improvements upon it and it turned out really awesome.
Trans rights, now!

I was getting a pretty big LOG vibe from the Attack of The Saiyans game. I think that's the closest we'll be coming to new LOG sequels. It was probably due to the over world sprites, leveling up system and even the save screens looking very similar. That and the enemies were pulled from old episodes of the series just like LOG. The cool filler scenarios were also reminiscent of the side missions in LOG.

The first one is terrible, but still weirdly addicting if you can get beyond Raditz.
The second two are highly enjoyable though. Buu's Fury would be fantastic if it weren't for the absolutely pathetic difficulty. All in all, probably the best series of American Dragon Ball games, and a style of gameplay I'd love to see revisited.
So yeah. Not masterpieces, but totally fun, which is more than can be said for plenty of Dragon Ball games.

Yep... everything that could have been said by me has been said. The first is a prime example of what not to do when developing games (it's so glitchy, if you're hit by a ki blast while flying you'll be invulnerable for the rest of the game, provided you don't fly again!) The others, however, are just plain fun.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I never played any of the installments after the first game. I always wanted to, but I was a kid, didn't have money, and had much bigger fish to fry in the gaming world. But it was something I had always radared when I went to the game store.
The first one was an interesting experience though. I had not actually watched Dragon Ball Z when I played the game. I was kind of aware of the characters, but the game was my first actual experience with the Z story. I had watched through the tournament saga of Dragon Ball on TV and I watched at least one of the Z movies. So I recognized Krillin, Goku, Roshi, Bulma, ext. So out of all the quests in the game, I think I liked the nudie mag quest, since I knew that aspect of the character the most.
Also, I kept pronouncing "herb" just as its spelled. When I was explaining the game to my mom, she corrected me. That's how I learned how to pronounce "herb." Too bad she couldn't have corrected me on "Kaio-ken."

The first one was funny it had a glitch in the final boss battle to let you attack Frieza without worry about get attacked. The second one was much better and I liked the third one even more. I couldn't find the gall to play Gt transformation of what its called. I wish they would import LOG 2 and Buu's Fury to the 3DS but thats just not happening.

I don't know what I can add to this conversation.. I want to add something, but my thoughts have bee spelled out already; the first sucked ass through a straw, the 2nd was an outstanding improvement, and Buu's Fury was just as good if not better. I dunno if I could go back to it though, being as dubbified as it is (what with it being an American made game and all).
So, I loved them when I played them (2nd and 3rd anyway)!

Mr EX, I've asked a few times about that, do you want a copy? I'd be willing to see what I can do about shipping mine to you.
Proud to be a S<3NE.

Number 1 was the first DBZ game I played, so I actually liked it quite a bit. I knew the characters and the story pretty well by the time I first got it. I didn't know much about canon and such at the time so I didn't really mind the fucked up storyline. I've beaten it multiple times but never noticed the invincibility glitch.

The Legacy of Goku II was definately my favourite DBZ game for the Game Boy Advance. I loved everything about that game; the graphics, the gameplay and the music. It's been a long while since I've played the game, but I might replay it now that my interest has been sparked again thanks to this thread.

We wouldn't see any future Legacy of Goku games. The games were developed by Webfoot Technologies in the US by Atari. The current license holder to the DragonBall franchise is Bandai Namco, and they've never outsourced their anime licenses to foreign developers.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

I had a feeling there would a legal issue that would stop future games with all the hubub going on involving Atari. Well, it was a fun ride while it lasted. I guess I'll just hold out hope for a sequel to
"Attack of the Saiyans".

I only recently played
Buu's Fury for the first time, and I thought that aspect would bother me. It really didn't.
If you can get beyond the dub terms and some slightly out-of-character dialogue, which don't really impact the game, there's nothing distracting about it. The games are very self-referential and have lots of little humorous toss-ins for fans. (The "Gokuu Hat" item, Priate Robots everywhere, Pilaf and other characters showing up, etc). And the music, if you can disassociate it from the old dub, works well enough as an original game score. Certainly more memorable than the
Sparking! replacement tracks.
I'd actually be really interested to see some Japanese fans' opinions on their release of
LOG II. Did they not get
Buu's Fury because of lukewarm reception, licencing disputes, or because the GBA was simply at the end of its run?

Honestly I didn't like any of those games. I remember wanting the first one so badly but when I finally got it I was heavily disappointed. 2 and buu's furry were a lot better than the first, but I still wasn't having any fun. I honestly can't bring myself to enjoy a Dragonball game that isn't a fighter. I think they are cute ideas and I give praise for being different from a fighter but there is always something lacking, like the games feel incomplete. Not to mention, I can't stand the idea of a Super Saiyan fighting a bear with a sword or a bunch of snakes.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

I love both Legacy of Goku II and Buu's Fury. I think it's safe to say I've played through both several times.
The first game however? Eeeeeh, not so much. Although I love Attack of the Saiyans, despite the battle system being completely different, it reminds me a lot of those latter game in the LoG series.
Honestly, I'd love to see more games in the LoG series, despite the fact that I know it'll never ever happen. Someone totally should do some fan games based on the gameplay of LoG II and BF. A Saiyan/Freeza arc game that doesn't suck like the original LoG? Most of the character sprites from LoG would be usable, so spriting would be one worry immediately taken off the list?
