Question:

Does anybody know how to format their Playstation 3 so that the Dragonboxes will play in its original 4:3 aspect ratio? I've been messing around with the settings but I can't seem to figure it out. Also, what other settings do you recommend for the best viewing experience of your Dragonboxes, or any DVD for that matter?

It's probably less about your PS3 and more about your TV. I'm playing just about everything through my PS3, and while it's certainly recognizing what the correct aspect ratios are for everything, you need to make sure your TV is respecting the choices, too.

By the by, Dragon Box 3 is down to $26.49 on Amazon again. Snag 'em up.

Is there a chance somewhere down the line I'll be able to buy the books that come with the Dragon Box separate? I really have no interest in buying the Dragon Box but I love the cool little tidbits in the books themselves.

People have been asking me, and I'm not really sure why... there ain't a whole lot for me to say about it that would be different from the first two :). I tried to come up with a fun little "Top 5" list in the two that I did, and I'm sure I'd do the same for the third... but each review is just going to get shorter and shorter as they come out, since all the tech details and such remain exactly the same for each set.

I'd like to, and I probably will... but if I'm going to do it... it's not something I'll tackle until at least next month.

I never thought about that. Thanks, I'll check once I get home from work. But for now, do you or anybody know what settings I should have my PS3 on? I can't remember if there was an obvious, "Aspect Ration" option. And there was also options for upscaling and other things I can't remember. What should I have those settings set as? If you recommend anything.

I believe on the PS3 while watching the DVD, press Triangle and look for AV Settings, and it should give you something like Screen View. Anyways, go through the different settings until you choose the one you like best. One will be the automatic, one will change it to fit a 16x9 view, which stretches the image, and one will put it at it's original 4x3. The choice is yours to choose.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

I'm a PS3 user as well so I'll help you out. I'm going to assume by you asking this you are watching on a HDTV, correct? There's 2 ways to do this.

1. In the XMB, go to Video Settings and go to BD/DVD Upscaler. Set it to normal. My guess is that you have it set to Full Screen. I do cuz I'd prefer my entire screen to be filled. Setting is to normal will give it ots original ratio, 4:3 in this case, and still upscale the resolution to HD.

2. While the DVD is playing, press the triangle button. This will bring up a set of icons. Go to the one that says AV Settings. Go to Upscale and choose normal

Do either of the 2 and you've got your DVD showing at 4:3.

Any chance the TV Specials will be included in future Dragon Box releases? The Bardock special would have been great for this set.

Actually, the Bardock Special would have technically fit in DBox 2 as it originally aired in the middle of the Ginyu fight.

Unlikely. The booklets from the Season Sets never came out separate. In fact, I've never seen a book that comes exclusively with a certain DVD come out separate later on.
