Well, I've heard that there will be more SSJ levels with time. I have no idea if it's true though.
There's nothing pointing toward that. I doubt more Super Saiyan levels will be added over time because the other two races don't really have anything else they could transform into. Arguably, Majin could turn into something like "Super" Boo, but then what? They'd be pretty much out of options after that.

For the Genki Dama, there was one extremely blurry screenshot a while back showing a Super Saiyan fighting Cell with someone charging up a Genki Dama in the background, but it's so blurred, I'd have to say that it's almost certainly fake.

I saw this news on DBOCOM forums and thought I should report it here. The Hongkong and Macau versions of DBO have been announced. And they have the same publisher as the Taiwan version, Cayenne Tech.

Also one person (who can read Chinese) tells us that it will be released by the end of this year. Though I don't know if this is valid or not, but if it's true then that mean those of you who really want to play this game will be able to very soon.

EDIT: Someone finally translated it directly. The release of this server, along with the Taiwanese server, is confirmed to be within 2010.

That's great news! I never really "got" in MMORPGs, but I'll have to make an exception because it's Dragon Ball. :P

So nonnatives, so to speak, will be able to play the newer server releases without all the felonies of trying to hijack a Korean SSN for the Korean servers?

It'd be great if majin characters could absorb other characters for a limited amount of time and gain their powers and features. But I'm guessing that would be too tough to implement.

You know, the transformations seem really unbalanced as-is, going by the logic of the original series. I mean, Namekians get something that failed to defeat pre-Raditz Goku, humans get Super Saiyan, and majins get to turn into a character that gave Super Saiyan 3 Goku a run for his money. But I'd assume the game keeps them balanced well.

It was never actually confirmed in the first place. There was simply a job listing for a position to work on a project relating to it.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what it means.

I could see some form of absorbtion being possible against enemies, just not player characters. Each one of them is divided up into different classes. For instance, some are aliens, some are plants, other are dinosaurs, etc. If you were to absorb them, then you'd get an ability based on their class like in Kirby games. Of course, that's pretty complicated and farfetched.

In all honesty, from what I understand, the game's balance when it comes to transformations is horrible. Namekians and Majin can't use anything other than two skills used exclusively while transformed, meaning healers can't heal, and things like stuns, debuffs, and so on can't be used while transformed. When Humans go Super Saiyan, they still can use all of their basic attacks, but not buffs and the like. The transformation sucks away the player's EP every few seconds, so it can't be used as long during a fight, where as the Namekian and Majin transformations just last for a static 10 minutes. If a Super Saiyan isn't fighting, they can stay in that state indefinately, even longer than the 1 hour cooldown for it. It's pretty bad at the moment.

It gives no incentive to choose other races besides human really.

Sweet, mucho excited now. Like PD said above, I never really got into MMORPGs, but since it is another property of Dragon Ball that continues the story and is unique, I'm ready to dive in.

So why is there no official English version? Sure it won't be huge but there are enough people who will play it.

Well the release of an international version depends on whether or not the game will be successful in Asia first. The game didn't do very well in Korea, but that's mostly because in Korea they only praise games that are actually good in the gaming value. In Japan it will most likely fair better because they would care less about the crappy-ness of the game itself and will play it mostly because it is based on Dragon Ball.

This goes the same for people who do not like MMO's but are DB fans because the game on it own isn't very good when you get past level 30-ish

FINALLY!
This made my day, thank you! I got pretty tired of waiting.
Though.. Since I'm unable to read Chinese and such, we'd still need to wait for an English patch. But no matter, I'll play whether I can read it or not!

You mean on the Korean servers? Then yea. Though you would expect that a Korean game would require much higher speeds, I can play it fine (with some lag) with a 2Mb connection (and even that only truly comes as a few hundred kb/s).

And since Chinese servers are usually much more forgiving than Korean ones, I would expect the same thing with the Chinese version.

Well on the Korean game, the non-Korean community was able the create an English patch for the game within 1 or 2 months since it was released, so I think an English patch for this version will also come just as quickly, though I could be wrong about this.

Ah, Dragonball Online. I had the chance to play this one 2-3 months back. Here are my opinions on the game. As far as Dragonball goes, it's pretty cool. I personally love the time-traveling story-line and such, although it would be nice to maybe play the game near more of Goku's era and not like 300 years after or whatever it was. As far as MMORPG's go, stay away. Combat is pretty bad, kind of repetitive. Race balance is tipped way more towards Humans, especially since they are getting a third class over the Namekians and Majins. Leveling is horrible due to the boring repetitive quests, and the fact that you'll soon run out of quests, forcing you to grind just to get to the next level. Quests consist of "Go Here and kill this many" or "Escort this random person to a town". This wouldn't be so bad if the combat wasn't so insanely boring. You really don't get a feel of Dragonball when you're fighting. It's really slow and toned down. However, if you can get past the grind and level up, Maybe you'll have a chance to get at the Open pvp, which is only levels 45 and above. I've done pvp before, and while it is a whole lot of fun, since it does actually feel like Dragonball when you're at that level and have lots of attacks, moves, etc. class balance tends to be an issue. You can easily get killed in one shot and do nothing to stop it by some classes, other classes have a hard time even getting their opponent past 90% health.

Anyway, that was my little mini-rant/review of the game. Sorry if I got a bit offtopic. Maybe I just didn't have such a great experience with the game because most players were Korean, and the few players who were english were not very smart, and a bit hard to have an actual conversation with. Maybe I was just hanging around with the wrong english players.
