Kids don't care what type of score a cartoon show has. They only care about it's action and story. I know when I was little, I didn't pay much attention to DBZ's score on TV. I just liked the action and fighting of the show.Big Momma wrote: For now. I don't hear any kids wishing Kai got a replacement score. Years from now, those kids won't even be having this discussion.

Re: Post Dragon Box
Sure kids can appreciate the music of a cartoon. Why else would a good chunk of the most successful animated films of the past twenty years be musicals?
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

I'm actually didn't pay attention to the Dragon Ball series score, until I got to this forum and everyone start arguing about it.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Kids don't care what type of score a cartoon show has. I agree the music didn't make or break shows for me but I would certainly be more inclined to watch it if it pumped me up every week and set the mood well.Gaffer Tape wrote:Sure kids can appreciate the music of a cartoon. I was just saying that me personally and a few other people that I've encountered, didn't really listen to the background music in DBZ as kids. I guess we were too entranced in the action.Gaffer Tape wrote:Sure kids can appreciate the music of a cartoon. Re: Post Dragon Box
The dub score isn't even that good, some cues are downright horrible but the most jarring effect in my experience with the Faulconer music is the mishmash of styles used for each character's theme that keeps changing whenever a specific character is a focus of a particular shot. It wouldn't be too bad if they actually flowed together but, for the most part, the Faulconer score sounds like someone desperately switching radio stations, looking for something that isn't crap.
Not that the Saban score was any better. I'm more than happy to have the dub with the Japanese score.
Once all of the Dragon Boxes have been released, I think FUNimation should just keep them all in print and keep them on store shelves. The only other potential release I could see coming after this would be a commemorative release of the Dragon Boxes as they were done in Japan, though I think it's safe to say that's not gonna happen.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

*Looks back on FUNimation's previous releases*
In all honestly, FUNimation will continue to milk the franchise for all it's worth. In less than a decade we'll probably have another Dragon Ball Z DVD release for whatever reason.

I think after FUNimation's done with the Dragon Boxes, they'll release the series on Blu-Ray (possibly with Faulconer Production's score).Perfect wrote:*Looks back on FUNimation's previous releases*

Seriously, it's FUNimation. You know they will.

Re: Post Dragon Box
But a Blu-ray set would be for more then just the hardcore Japanese version fans. There's no other release of DBZ on Blu-ray, whereas the Dragon Box is like the fifth line of DBZ DVDs FUNimation has released. Fitting the stereo dub with broadcast music track would be easy on Blu-ray, there's no reason for them not to include it.

Re: Post Dragon Box
Why would it be ridiculous? If FUNimation were to release DBZ on Blu-Ray without Faulconer Production's score, they would be isolating fans of said score. This is turn will cause them to lose potential sales.AnimeMaakuo wrote:I highly doubt this as the Dragon Box is meant for Japanese score/fans ONLY, (In my opinion.) It would be ridiculous for FUNimation to release that, I mean think about it... I could go into much more detail, but I need sleep. *Cheers*
P.S. The Dragon Boxes aren't only meant for the fans of the original. The dub is included aswell.

Re: Post Dragon Box
That argument is incredibly unfair though considering the orange bricks suck even for fans of Faulconer. The better argument would be to tell them to track down the single disc releases (which themselves are an incomplete set) because nobody, NOBODY who isn't insane wants anything to do with the orange bricks, dub fans or otherwise. As of today there is absolutely no way for a Faulconer fan to get a complete uncut release of the series in decent quality. Even for people who don't give a shit, that's pretty brazen to tell them "ha ha, get the orange bricks, losers."AnimeMaakuo wrote:skatezeppelin wrote:Do you think Funimation will release Dragonball Z again with Faulconer's music? what was first Dragonball Z to me. I sold the orange bricks I had, and replaced them with the Dragon Box, hoping one day that a better release with Faulconer's music may surface. I was thinking about buying all the singles, but I will wait and see. Maybe funi will release the video from the Dragon Box, with the additional track that is included on the brick, on blu-ray, with EXTRAS!
First off, the Dragon Box is not for the English Dub fans. This is for Japanese fans (People who want the Original script and Music score that is). If you want your English score, buy the Orange Brick sets. They will not Release a Dragon Box in the future with the English music because the main purpose for creating the Original Dragon Box was for Japanese and "Original" fans. This set was produced in limited quantities and is the ultimate set for purists.
Of course .. That's my opinion.
You can believe what you want..

Re: Post Dragon Box
But they already released a version for the US dub fans. The singles/box sets from before. They were exactly what the US fan could want. Faulconer's score with the dub (as seen on TV), brighter colors (as seen on TV), and slightly zoomed in footage (as seen on TV). The old singles/box sets were tailor-made for the US fan. A US dub fan was a fan of the show that was released through those singles. There would be no reason for these fans (and myself included actually) to want the "original" colors and whatnot because the show they loved was on DVD exactly the same way they saw it on TV. It's not anyone's fault that you or other dub fans did not capitalize when you had the opportunity and bought the singles. I have them all and it wasn't easy (because I started collecting them after the Season Sets started coming out for the simple reason that I thought the Season Sets were horrible) but I did it. Since I like both versions (Japanese and US dub) of the show, I am happy owning the old singles, the Season Sets (just to say I have every version of the show, good or bad), and the Dragon Box. The fact that Faulconer's music didn't make it to the Dragon Box is fine with me. I only watch them with Japanese audio anyway. Would it be IDEALISTIC if they had Fauldoner's music? Yes. But at the same time, dub fans already had their "perfect" release (for them specifically) while the Japanese fans had been pushed aside and for a long time thought they would never cater anything Dragon Ball-related to them. However now they did. You can't say it's not fair. You can't say that they don't deserve it, because everyone waited for a very, very long time for FUNimation to stop butchering DBZ (as far as the original Japanese fans were concerned) and give them what they want.
