They stopped looking because they found the perfect English Goku.
Joking aside, I'm looking forward to the Goku vs Ginyu fight. Should be interesting to see it with the new and improved dub quality.
Also, how far are we, episode wise, from the episode in which Goku comes out of the healing tank and Vegeta fights Final Form Freeza? I really want to hear how those insert songs turn out in English.

Higher Ranger? Is that like Haiyaa Dragon mixed with a Power Ranger?

I was hoping you (or somebody) wouldn't be able to help himself, so I'd get a picture like that. ^_^
So I guess that would be Haiyaa Dragon Caesar?

I'd like to hear Todd Haberkorn's take on Goku though I think he would sound a bit nasally.

That's a sensible conclusion to come to. I sure as hell wouldn't want Gokū to sound like a high-pitched woman in English. Unless that actually happens however, we all will never come to an agreement.

Since Piccolo Daimaoh brings it up, that's something I've always wondered and have never been able to pinpoint: why is it okay for Goku to voiced by a woman in Japan but so unthinkable in America? This isn't me expressing an opinion one way or the other. I'm just curious to those who feel that way. I admit that male Ranma being voiced by a woman in the English dub of Ranma 1/2 was offputting to me, but that was just because I felt the actress was trying too hard to sound "butch," and it just didn't work.

It's sort of hard to explain. I just don't think it would
work in English. I think it would work for characters like Shinji and maybe Krillin, but just not Gokū. Some people might think differently, but that's just what I feel.

So does that mean that you're against a female-voiced Goku period or just in English? Honestly, I get the people who don't think he should be voiced by a woman in general even if I don't agree with it. But I'm wondering if the people who think it wouldn't work in English are saying that they personally don't feel that it would work, or if they think that the American (or other English-speaking) public wouldn't accept it.

Just in English I don't think it would work.

I don't even think any other woman voicing him in Japanese would work. The only reason I find it acceptable is due to Nozawa's unique voice for the character. Seriously, it doesn't even sound like a typical Japanese woman, or even a typical woman in general, it just sounds like Japanese Goku to me (likewise, I think Schemmel has a very unique, distinct voice as well, so as with Nozawa, I don't even question Goku's actor's gender when watching it in English, it just sounds like English Goku to me).
Unless by some miracle you could find a perfect match for Nozawa in English, it would most likely come out wrong, as I've never heard a voice like that in English before. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I really just don't think it could be done. I don't even think it could be done in Japanese if it wasn't for Nozawa...

I wouldn't want Goku to sound exactly as he does in Japanese in English. But I certainly don't want him sounding like Sean Schemmel.
Damn it, I didn't want to get back into this. It's a compulsion, is what it is.

He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Exactly why I like it as well, yes it's high, but it certainly doesn't sound like any woman voice I've ever heard, just a character voice.

*Pssst* Hey, that question I've asked multiple times about Nail, ready to answer it yet?

A male Masako Nozawa from America that wouldn't sound strange to even dub fans is out there...the only problem is FUNimation never bothered looking for him.
*Sigh* Oh well, at least Schemmel sounds somewhat okay.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Not so much actually.
While I do believe Jacob that Colleen would be a much better choice than Kara Edwards to voice the males of the entire Son family. I wouldn't believe her as an adult male beyond their teens (ie, Luffy). I wouldn't even want her to voice Gohan in high school much less as an adult at the end of Z. Colleen is great for Luffy and good for kid Gohan but adult Goku? I'd find that much less appealing than even Schemmel's less than stellar performances.
Somewhere out there the appropriate English speaking Goku exists. We've just yet to find that person. Mostly because FUNimation stopped looking.
... Todd Haberkorn, maybe? Or just, a talented male VA who's got a very good control over his higher ranges?
Not really FUNimation, but...Beng Spies? After hearing him in MGS4, I think he'd make a good Goku.

Who exactly did he portray in MGS4? It's been about a year and a half since I played that game, so I don't recall what character that VA voiced.

I wonder if, so they could match up to the way the Japanese did it, if Colleen Clinkenbeard could the entire Son family? She is already perfect as Son Gohan and what we heard of young Son Goku she is amazing in that role. What do you guys think?
