But of course, I never watch fansubs of shows readily available on the domestic market.

On the subject of recasts, though, I wouldn't mind hearing a new #19.
19 was recast with Todd Haberkorn in Raging Blast. There's a likely chance he'll voice 19 in Kai, too.

I hope Colleen Clinkenbeard voices Gohan up to the Cell Games. Then after that, I think Kyle Herbert can take back over and if not, they could get Arron Dismuke.
However, I would love to hear Clinkenbeard voice Goten while Kara Edwards could voice Videl again.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Ditto on that. Edwards's Goten was really annoying and grating. Videl was pretty much perfect.

Yeah, that and I don't want Clinkenbeard to leave.
Her, Monica Rial, Chris Ayres and Doc Morgan have all been breathes of fresh air.

Aw, I didn't mind Kara's Goten that much. It was pretty cute in a lot of places and often sounded close to an actual little kid.

Her Videl, on the other hand, was a good voice effected by... bad acting. I'm sorry to her fans, but when she started out with Videl, she was just not very good. Stilted, stiff, and often coming off as forced.

It's funny you should mention that because I had that same reaction. It seems like she was playing Videl way too straight as the stereotypical tough girl, then once the character herself mellowed out, she mellowed her performance out as well.

As for her Goten, I was okay with it when I heard it in the Boo saga, but then changed my mind after listening to it more in the movies and video games. She plays it too "cutesy" and it gets, as B put it, "grating."

I think Clinkenbeard could take the sillyness she does with say her Luffy voice and combined it with her Gohan voice. It would be very nice for the ears.

That's exactly it. In the actual Z dub, she wasn't all that bad as Goten, but in the movies and games... Who knows what happened. I'd personally rather not bank on a small chance she'll do a good job in Kai because it's not the movies or a game.

And to reiterate, I've never had a problem with Videl. Honestly, I don't wish to see a recast there.

No, thanks. I really don't want Gohan, Goten and Kid Gokū to be played by the same actor. I know that's how it was in the Japanese version, but it's just not normal. Kara Edwards playing Goten mixes things up in regards to the Son family's voices.

I don't think there'd be any reason to recast Videl or Goten. Kara Edwards was excellent in both roles, as far as I'm concerned, and I would be a little disappointed if they recast those roles.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

It's not so much the voice, but the way she's been playing the character post-Boo saga. Maybe if she tone the cute down a bit-scratch that, a lot I'll be fine.

If you look at who's been recast so far, it's all people who haven't been regularly working with FUNimation in years(Nadolny, Jackson, Vollmer, Young, Armstrong) or to simply space out roles to more than four people(Sabat dropping stuff, MacFarland dropping Dodoria). Unless someone can prove me wrong, Edwards's last FUNi venture was in 2006. Add that to the fact she isn't living in Texas, and odds aren't looking good.

But it's not impossible, if Hebert can come back for Ox King and Appule.

With actors like Hebert, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, and Troy Baker (all FUNimation veterans now living in LA) they are regularly working as voice over artists. As opposed to Vollmer and Nadolny who only had three (four if you count Gokû Jr.) active roles between them to act as their experience, the former four have a much wider and meaningful part to play in FUNimation's talent pool. The same goes for Rial and Clinkenbeard, they were easier to reach and work with, as opposed to Vollmer and Nadolny and so many of the other recasted actors.

There's no question about Hebert. If he can go and voice a rather small supporting character like the Ox King and a extremely minor one like Appule, then I'm 99.9% sure he'll voice Teen Gohan. The 1% is if something happens to him.

I have to disagree with the folks saying that Edwards was bad in the movies. Her Z-dub stuff as Goten and Videl were a little iffy, sure, but when it came to movies 10-13, she delivered. Heck, the entire FUNi in-house crew brought their A-game, after Lord Slug. Lord Slug had a little bit of that season 3 vibe to it is why I say that, by the way.

I felt she just lost her vibe for Goten. Her Videl was great in the movies and games, her Goten felt, dare I say it, phoned in.

Excellent. Now all we need is Kara Edwards coming back and we're set.

Do you guys think they'll give Cell 3 separate voices again?
