How is it dumb? He couldn't be any more different than basic Buu-era Gohan. Different fighting style, different clothes, different personality, different attacks... it may work in Sparking!/Raging Blast as a transformation, but in the Budokai games, its quite lame. Mystic Gohan in Budokai 3 is a waste of a great character. He's a seldom-used form that is indistinguishable from the other Gohan forms (just like just about every transformation in every Budokai). The thing about Sparking! is, a character can transform to be something as a polar opposite to the previous form. Take Janemba for instance. In Budokai, a transformation is merely a build-on to a character; same basic combos, specials, and the like. If you're going to bitch about a game having separate characters of Gohan, complain about Dimps' choice to have Great Saiyaman as his own character, but leave my Mystic Gohan alone. :(

To this day, the only Dimps game to have a future Trunks without a sword is Shin Budokai 2. :-| Every other game completely ignores his existence, "which is dumb." Honestly, there's no reason to bitch about it in the first place. It's more consistent. It's not like they would have added an additional character for every clone they didn't make.

I'd say one of the great mysteries of this century is the grudge people have against Sparking! titles. If you don't like them, go play your Street Fighter-wannabe games or Burst Limit or whatever. You'll not convince anyone to like your games more. Honestly, I think people bitch, whine and moan and claim superiority of the Budokai games is because its obvious just how superior Sparking! is, so they hold that position just to be shocking and different. And before I put up my flame-shield, I say this in terms of Dragon Ball games. You can't tell me the Budokai games are better DBZ games. SSJ4 Gogeta vs. Super Yī Xīng Lóng standing on the ground trading punch combos. Dragon Ball is nothing like Tekken. wtf. Has anyone even fought on the ground since the Saiyajin Saga?
I think its dumb because all in all he's still Gohan from the Buu saga regardless of how "ruthless" he became, its not like he became a completely different person. The Ultimate power up is still a transformation which is arguably permenant. Spike can even make the "Power up" an item exclusive to Gohan similar to the "every one's energy" for Goku. The "Power up" would disable Gohan's SSJ 1 and 2 forms while keeping him in his Mystic form (which is basically black hair SSJ) yet he has access to moves that can previously only be used in SSJ1/2 plus additional ones. Or he could simply be an irreversable transformation like Freeza, Cell , etc.

On another point I never said I preffered Dimps over Spike I just like the way Dimps handles their roster. I AM A FAN OF BOTH DIMPS AND SPIKE if the game is good I'll play it untill the sequal comes out if its bad or mediocre I'll go back to the previous game like I did with Burst limit and Tenkaichi 3. Both of those game companys have their good and bad points about their DB games. I am going to buy RB2 but not this because I dont have a PSP.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Fully agreed. That's actually why I like the Tenkaichi series more. The fights are almost exactly like they are series (minus all the powering up and trash-talking). All the excitement and suspence, the fast-paced combos, the teleporting, the environment getting destroyed, the dashing and the stunning 3D Ki blasts and stages. It's all there. I know I've said this before, but I feel like I'm actually playing the Anime (especially on the Wii). I simply don't get this feeling when I'm playing the Budokai games. They just feel like generic fighters that really don't stand out of the crowd. The Tenkaichi series is something different, something that we've never seen before.

I will agree with you that the Sparking!/Tenkaichi series plays more like the show than the Budokai games...but I'm going to have to say that the Budokai games were more fun. And better constructed/had more care put into them than the Sparking!/Tenkaichi games. It was cool that we got so many characters in Spike's games, but many of them felt the same, and had moves that looks extremely similar. Plus, we got far too many versions of each character (Early/Mid Goku could have both been one character...heck, ALL adult Goku's could have been one) and some characters that were just useless fodder (TWO Freeza henchmen? Really?). With the Budokai series, each character felt different...and the movesets were more varied.

Structurally, I'd say that the "Budokai" games are put together and had more care put into them than the Sparkng!/Tenkaichi games...but that latter games are the way to go if you want to "play the show".

(But...for the record, you CAN technically fly in the Budokai games...even if it isn't as well done as in the Sparking!/Tenkaichi games ;) )

Uh, wasn't that more aimed at King Cold?
Yes, my comment was aimed at King Cold.

A demo for this is coming out this month with Goku, Vegeta, piccolo, Krillin, Android 19 and Gero as playable characters. Made my day when I found out.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

Any idea on the date? And do you need a Japanese PSN?

It might be PSN exclusive for a day or two, but most of Namco Bandai's game demos usually get hosted on other sites like Famitsu in a day or two

The demo will be released on the Japanese PlayStation Store on August 26. Playable characters are Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, Dr. Gero, and Android 19. Once the demo is completed, you'll unlock a special item you can export into the full game.

I'm still not that excited for the game. Well, at least the music in that trailer was pretty cool.

That was a really enticing trailer. My interest in this game has increased. The tag team attacks seem to work really well, and the story mode looks interesting.

Anyone have a source for the original European press trailer instead of some random person's YouTube channel all marked up with captions?

I see Game Trailers has the Raging Blast 2 trailer from GC2010, but not for TAG VS.

You can turn those off, y'know.
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

I'm aware of that, but they're turned on by default, and it's not the most authoritative-looking think to link to.

It's just a standard video sent out to press (mostly European), so if there's a better source I can link to, I'd much rather do that.

Well, there's my annotation-less upload...or the UK Namco-Bandai site's upload...

It just occured to me that Videl wasn't recast, so I guess her voice actress has decided to keep voicing Videl, despite Mr. Gôri's death.
