Son Goku Idainaru Densetsu

Post by MCDaveG » Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:21 pm

Damn, playin' it now, but what the hell!!! This game is pretty difficult and I don't fully understand the game mechanics, somebody know how to play this hellish game? :D
I was pretty beaten by Taopaipai, Tenshinhan and even King Piccolo, I don't have guts for Freeza and Vegeta.......

Yeheeay, almost beat up Tenshinhan, but man this game needs me to master some griffs.
It's quite hard!

Idainaru Gokû Densetsu is the PC-Engine CD-ROM game, which I believe came out on 11 November 1994. Been meaning to write up a feature or something on it for quite some time, since hardly anyone seems to know about it.

It's... really difficult :P.

This is the one of the only Dragon Ball game I've never played. It looks fun from the game play footage I've seen. I especially love the cutscenes of everyone putting their heads together to collectively explain past battles to Goten.

Not mean, you must :D I really love how that game is made up. Son Gohan tells story to Goten about his father with support of characters from the series and each story he is telling is one part of the series from RR arc up to Cell arc, and you must battle the major fights in these arcs. It have almost identical scenes from the series + some additional ones like Piccolo and Tenshinhan!s training, Taopaipai blowing up the volcano etc. Game starts with Chala Head Chala opening, everything is made in bitmap graphics, so the animation is not smooth as in the series but lines are made from squares (bitmap).
There is great voice acting from the series actors, only Tenshinhan is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa (I think, because it's not Suzuoki). Only thing I don't like much is the electronic music soundtrack. You get Chala-head-chala and one Chala BGM at the menu screen but that's all. I think that it will have greater atmosphere with original BGM. If there is some possibility to break up the game mechanics and change that in core, that will be awesome..... BUT IT'S ILLEGAL of course.

With that difficulty I hope you are not ironic:D I just finished up Taopaipai with great effort, sweat and blood powered up by the allmighty Spirit of Shonen.
