Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Just watching it online... and he did say that... Wow, that's the second big error after Dende's "brothers and sisters" line... Someone needs to bring this to their attention as well, so that they will correct it in time for the 3rd DVD...Big Momma wrote:I thought I heard that, too. Judging from Sabat's response to Dende's line error, it appears they are rushing these out to get them on TV as soon as possible, and then they are going back and correcting any glaring errors they may make in the process for the DVDs. That is, if they are aware of them...

These verbal slip ups are starting to be reminiscent of the Pokemon dub. Of course there's not as many at this point but still kinda weird. I'll still take slip ups over SDAs any day of the week.

Yup, that's exactly what I was talking about!
Stupid Dialogue Alerts. Such as bad jokes and puns. (In hindsight slip ups could be considered SDAs I suppose.)

"Rock the Dragon" was catchy and had a nice tune to it at least. "Dragon Ball Zeeeeeeee" was annoying and monotonous.penguintruth wrote:It's really no worse than "Rock the Dragon" or that shitty guitar riff for Funimation season 3.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Yeah. That, and I'm sure it's only due to them rushing to get these dubs out. It'll probably be fixed on the DVD release.Blue wrote:These verbal slip ups are starting to be reminiscent of the Pokemon dub. Of course there's not as many at this point but still kinda weird. Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I figured that was the issue. Like he was meaning to say 'you shouldn't underestimate Freeza' and 'you shouldn't think so highly of yourself' at the same time, and just got the mental wires crossed. Happens to the best of us, and naturally if they're rushing these, they might not catch such slip-ups. As long as we point them out, they should be fine for the DVD releases.

He speculates that Goku is so much stronger than a normal Saiyan because he's a genetic mutation like the Ginyu Force were.

A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Maybe that line is covering up for something that won't fly on Nick Toons, like the word "damn" or something. They do "curse" (if you want to consider those curses) a lot in the first Blu-ray release. And when that happens, they just make up some random dialog to shove into the TV version. "That damned Kakarot" could become, "What a fighter Kakarot is" and whatnot. Of course I just made that one up as an example and wouldn't like people jumping on me asking me where that dialog came from lol I just notice in the Thread that has the TV edits (a GREAT Thread may I add) has dialog changes to that extent whenever there's a "naughty word" being thrown around.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
On the subject of dubs, I've been reading older bits and pieces of DBZ Uncensored recently and, other than a few points here and there, Psaros really seems to like acting as though he knows what he's talking about half the time, like this little gem:
"Listen to the Japanese version. You'll notice that NONE of the principal characters use anything but their normal speaking voices, and this is what gives them that sense of reality, subtlety, and believability. The "cartoon voice" mentality really needs to be done away with."
Because Masako Nozawa never altered her voice whatsoever when she switched between performing Goku and Gohan. And Daisuke Gouri wasn't clearly deepening his voice when he played Mr Satan or King Cold... This is in the middle of his diatribe about how voice actors "putting on cartoon voices" was bad and it's better to let voice actors use their natural speaking voices.
I'm sure Mel Blanc would've gotten just as much work as he did if he only ever did one voice, right? Billy West too. And Jim Cummings. And Roger L. Jackson. And Tress MacNeille. And Jeff Bennett. And Rob Paulsen. And Maurice LaMarche. And Scott McNeil... Okay, maybe I got a bit carried away, heh.
