I also wondering about that too, I never heard her old voice but I just feel this one is too girly, so that's why it doesn't fit her.Deity wrote:Is it just me or did the voice actor for #18 changed ? I kind of disliked this "new" voice, it seemed too girly and whiny

Re: Kai Episode 64 (11 July 2010)
That next episode preview with Vegeta saying off-screen that he can't be defeated while the image they show while he's saying this is 18 breaking Vegeta's arm. I can't tell how I'm supposed to react to that. Is it funny? Is it awkward?
Yeah, when I first heard 18's Japanese voice years ago I was surprised too because of how much deeper her Funi dub voice is.

No, no. Itou Miki is still playing Artificial Human 18. It's probably a combination of people not actually hearing the original voice, considering so many people have mostly watched this part of the show dubbed, and the actress possibly compensating for her age at this point.SonEric84 wrote:So wait, Miki Ito isn't voicing her anymore?

Ah, okay. I have always enjoyed her take on #18 (though the dub version was acceptable, she got better as the series went on) so it would have been a shame (and somewhat illogical) to have her replaced. I think she is fairly young compared to some of the other DB seiyū though.

Just a little fun piece of tidbit, she's the Japanese voice of Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series. =DSonEric84 wrote:KaiserNeko wrote:No, no. Re: Kai Episode 64 (11 July 2010)
@Goku100xKamehameha - Why didn't you just link to her Wikipedia profile rather than copying it all here? You don't have to take a tiny tidbit someone included in a post and pointlessly expand on it to the point that it's annoying and doesn't really add anything to the discussion at hand. The only real relevant thing you mentioned was her age.
Re: Kai Episode 64 (11 July 2010)
I still remember the Z episodes vividly and I'm fairly sure Miki's deliveries as #18 were pretty identical to how she did it here in Kai. She was talking to Gero a lot in this and #18 tended to talk "girly" when she was being condescending to people.KaiserNeko wrote:No, no. Itou Miki is still playing Artificial Human 18. Re: Kai Episode 64 (11 July 2010)
Maybe it is because of this but I've always watched the original japanese version and this Kai voice for #18 seemed like a different voice actress. If that's not the case, then I'm glad.MR.Mark wrote:I still remember the Z episodes vividly and I'm fairly sure Miki's deliveries as #18 were pretty identical to how she did it here in Kai. Re: Kai Episode 64 (11 July 2010)
Great episode, very faithful to the original manga, but magnified by its mysterious music (love it when the door has been crushed apart by Vegeta's blast and there is that mysterious music as the cyborgs appear from the smoke). The discovery of the long-awaited and mysterious enemies is a quite a success in Kai.
