I like Elliot's Ginyu. Massey's Oolong, on the other hand, sounds like the voice he had in the Geneon dub (which I thought was an annoying voice for Oolong). I can't really complain though, because it's still not as bad as the Ox Demon-King, Kaioh, or ReaCoom.

No, they shouldn't. If were talking about the Kai dub, then okay sure. (Pat yourself on the back for something you should have been doing in the first place.) Z on the other hand? Hell no.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Its fucking Oolong. He has maybe 7 lines throughout all of Z.

He could have been voiced by a 5 year old just learning to read and it wouldn't make a difference.

Uh...okay? I wasn't even talking about Z, though.

They should take in mind the future Oolong work, too. Games, redubs, new animation, it's all likely to happen so they might as well get it done right first.

Of course I haven't really heard much of Massey's Oolong, but it seems to be a lot more bareable than Brad Jackson's was, not that the original voice actor didn't sound...unique.

Wasn't Z included in this argument?

The new Oolong is just awful. I don't know what it is about it. The acting, the voice, the something. It's just a hollow imitation of an acceptable character voice.

Yeah, it sounds really shitty. You can tell he's trying to sound like Brad Jackson because he has the same Brooklyn accent, but it's just...bad. I really can't describe it either :P

Massey's Oolong is just as good as anyone else who's played him. It was just a little jarring at first, but it fits the character.

I fully agree. I honestly do not understand what sounds so bad about it. It's not even a character voice, either, nor is it really THAT forced.

Maybe I'm not looking at it objectively. Maybe it's just not the voice I grew up with. Not the one I know and love. :?

I was a bit shocked by it, but, as penguintruth said, it's no worse than anyone else's Oolong in English. Except maybe AB Groupe's Oolong. I recall it being quite good. I'll have to check...

Some people think that the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub is an "A average". Just sayin'

P.S. I would personally say that it's a "B average". The name changes/mispronounciations prevent it from being an "A average" for me.

That, and the character changes to Chichi, the Ox Demon-King, Yajirove, Kaioh, and ReaCoom. There's honestly not a whole lot that's wrong, but there's enough to be annoying. I mean, Saiyan is said a LOT, and when they keep saying it wrong, it's annoying. These things should've been fixed. It's such a shame that they weren't.

Pretty much my problem with the dub so far. They try to fix "Kaio-Ken", yet they continue using the term "Tri-Beam" and "Solar Flare", when they actually whip out "Makankosappo".
The pronunciation of Saiyan also irritates the fuck out of me. I don't give 2 shits if it's "engrained into the English speaking fanbase", so was half the other shit you guys fucked up, and you're trying to fix (some of) those. "Seiyen" is wrong, if you disagree then you're reading the work incorrectly.
There just seems to be no naming continuity what-so ever, even if the acting has drastically improved, it's still irritating to hear these blatant errors (because that's exactly what they are). To add insult to injury, the acting for Kai's original Japanese broadcast seems to have taken a big dip when compared to Z.
Thank fuck for the Dragon Boxes.

I'd just like to say that, yes. Tri-Beam is bullshit. But what's wrong with "Solar Flare"? "Taiyou-ken" is "Sun Fist", or rather "The Sun Attack", it's a blinding flash of light associated with the sun. "Solar Flare" seems like a pretty decent adaptation of the term.

More like it's ingrained into English itself. As a child of German, English expects harsher noises from its words. "Say" is harder than "sigh", especially with the loss of the hard j.

It's the same reason "Yamhan" sounds bad.

Ditto, it kinda sounds like if Scott's version sounded natural.

Agreed, they should of just went the whole way, fuck nostalgic toonami watchers. The current Kai dub is bringing in legions of new fans anyway. It's already retarded enough that they had to record the damn 9000 thing for the TV version. Freeza and Gohan have appropriate voices for once and I don't see new viewers complaining, so FUNI might as well of threw in SAIyan amongst other (correct) things.
