So basically, his comment was twodder(twitter-fodder) and he's just letting us know that bit if information, and there was no point in responding to it? Okay, I can deal with that.

I can't wait until next week's episodes, and to see how Ayres will handle Freeza's second form.

Nakao changed his pitch when Freeza transformed right? He spoke a bit rougher?

The way things are looking, there won't be any new episodes for a while.

Speaking of which, there's also the fact that I don't care much about Kai in the first place. If it weren't for me having a shred of interest in the dub, I wouldn't be watching Kai at all anymore. And since I'm not satisfied with the dub outside of the script, then, well...Fuck Kai.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

Incredibly productive post. See yourself out of the Kai forum then.

And NOOOOO, HOW DARE KAI GO ON HIATUS!!

This had better be some kind of joke... well actually I'm surprised it even got this far. It sounds like was really taking a toll on FUNi's actors. Chris Sabat replied to me on Facebook saying they had to delay the production of Kai for a week due to his voice being completely blown out, which explains it being incredibly rushed and some dialog errors slipping into the TV version.

I'm going to go watch last night's episode on the Nicktoons website. However my internet takes forever to load.

How was Ayres' angry Freeza performance if anyone wants to tell me while I wait?

Oh no, I'll resume watching once we get to Android saga, especially since there's less Bulma and Gohan, (until a certain point for the latter, at least) barring there's no shitty recasts.

Perhaps the fact that the last few episodes have been rushed explains the difference in Schemmel's voice(according to some people. He sounded fine to me).

Fixed.

Look, I get where you're coming from. I was in your boat too for a while. I hated change and wanted my FUNi DBZ the way it was. But if you're open to this change and understand Dragon Ball for what it really is, you'll enjoy DBZ Kai a lot more.

And this seems like an odd place to take a hiatus...hopefully it's just for a short period and due to Chris Sabat's voice problems.

I'm not trying to be a mod but can we please not start this rigmarole again?

The kids of today are lucky. They get talented actors playing Freeza, Gohan and Bulma. Back in our day, we had a chain-smoking granny as Freeza, a chain-smoking Bobby Hill for Gohan and a Bulma that only knew how to scream. Yet, despite getting voices that due the character's justice, there's still people who love those old, awful voices. Why?! What's worse is hearing stuff like "Clinkenbeard's too soft...Rial's voice is more obnoxious...Ayres sounds like the tranny." Are you kidding me?! You dub fans let childhood nostalgia cloud your judgment of actual talent.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.

Uh...maybe because not everybody thinks that they're awful...?

Seriously, your opinion isn't the only "correct" one out there, despite what you'd apparently like to think. You can come up with all of the BS rationalizations/generalizations of disagreements that you want, but they all make you look silly in the end.

To be fair, back when we were watching DBZ for the first time, most of us probably never gave a thought for how good or bad the voice acting was, or even what was cut or uncut. It was just an entertaining action cartoon. I didn't start appreciating voice acting until I was in my late teens.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

This is exactly how it was for me. I had always liked it for what it was and the memories I carried from it, and just assumed there was nothing wrong with it. And then I re-watched some episodes...and then I found Daizenshuu Ex.

That just proves my point. Sure, it was all fine and dandy when were kids, but you have to come to a point and say "It's my childhood...yet it sucks."

1) No, they pretty much ARE awful.
2) Stop with these constant indignant responses every time someone mentions it or points it out. Broken record, man.

Stop making false generalizations about how dub fans don't like the Kai recasts out of nostalgia. I'm sure jjgp is sick and tired of it right now. And frankly, I am too. You're acting like the Z voices for Freeza, Gohan and Bulma are objectively bad. They aren't. I, myself am a sub fan. I do not like the Z dub. Yet, I still dislike Bulma's new voice in favour of her old one. It's not only dub fans that dislike the recasts.
