Underrated filler episodes.
For starters, I'd have to go with the Dr Flappe episode. Sure, it caused some problems later on, but it is a really funny episode. For me, Murasaki's death was absolutely priceless. Is this the only filler episode to kill off a manga character? Not counting Kuririn in GT of course.
But anyway, Goku continuing to torture Murasaki without even realising it is hilarious. Peeing on his legs, keeping him under the ice, etc.

Orphans... in... SPAAAACE.
It has a real '80s US cartoon feel to it, and is also very Lord of the Flies, I rarely hear praise but still talk about it myself. And Zeshin and Boone are my favourite filler characters for some reason.
Maybe it's not liked that much because of the Filler episodes that followed...?
Also, Bulma has crabs, I mean Bulma and the crab... is funny, and I never skip it, FUCK THE HATERS, BULMA X CRAB 4EVA.

The first 16 episodes of GT. People need to stop player-hatin'. They didn't feel very Toriyama-like, sure, but they were interesting in their locale and design, nonetheless.

Ano Yo-ichi Budoukai arc. Am I the only person who digs those episodes?

That's the Otherworld Tournament, right? Yeah, I loved those episodes as well. I found Goku and the other heavenly warriors' battles with a variety of different aliens interesting and enjoyable. Goku's fight was Paikuhan is really cool too.Nils_McCloud wrote:Ano Yo-ichi Budoukai arc. Am I the only person who digs those episodes?

Goku and Princess Snake, one of my favorite episodes, I guess its underrated cause I hardly see anybody talking about it.

Re: Underrated filler episodes.
Why does everyone hate the Fake Namek arc? It wasn't my favorite filler arc but what was wrong with it? I thought it was neat, and I liked the fight at the end. Seems like I'm also the only person who liked the continuing adventures of Ginyu the Frog. Maybe it's because of my bizarre Ginyu obsession, maybe it's because it's the most interesting Namek filler involving Bulma, but I enjoyed it.
Now my favorite filler arc is hard to choose, but I think I would have to say the entire Garlic Jr. Saga. Is that cheating?

This will never not be my sig:

Pretty much all the Saiyan arc filler is gold, especially Gohan with Mr. Robot.
Mr. Robot...

Re: Underrated filler episodes.
There's a lot that I like, but I think one of my favorites in terms of being stand-alone is Gohan and the orphans. It's pretty sad and I wish there had been some closure for them...
Re: Underrated filler episodes.
It's a mini filler arc coming off of another filler episode and the saga hasn't even started yet. I don't mind it, it's boring and I usually skip it but I could image how annoying that would be if you were watching the show on TV.Sun-Wukong wrote:Why does everyone hate the Fake Namek arc?
I think Dragon Ball's filler in general is underrated, that show is a very good example of how you handle filler. I only disliked 2 parts the first was General Silvers escapade trying to burn down the forest and I didn't like how drawn out a lot of the General Blue in the Pirate's Cave stuff was.
If I had to pick one moment I really like the search for the Holy Sacred Water, more Yajarobe screen time and it seemed a LOT less lazy then that talking ass cat just pulling out the REAL power up water that was next to the fake power up water from like a saga ago.
Edit: Oh yeah, and as everyone has already mentioned the Saiyan arc filler was really good. For whatever reason filler went to shit after that.

Badman Vegeta and Postboy Piccolo's wacky adventures as they try to figure out a way to match Goku's new Super Saiyan form.

My favorite filler episode is Gohan and the Robot but I also liked the episode where Gohan tried to build the raft to get back to his mother.

Turtle's one-thousandth birthday for sure. That's one of the funniest opening beats to any episode in the series.

Anoyo'ichi Budôkai for sure. The tournaments were always my favorite part of Dragon Ball, and this one was no exception.

I liked the Anoyo ichi Budoukai episodes. I remember getting such a laugh out of one of the earlier ones where Goku keeps running forward and backward again--all Toei did was literally just play the same animation backwards--because he keeps forgetting to ask Kaio-sama questions before heading off (and then they end up just using shunkan idou to get there anyway).
On hiatus.

Damn, my memory is foggy, if they didn't kill off Murasaki in the manga, then how was he dealt with?

We never see Murasaki again after Goku knocked him out with his Janken.Coola Yagami wrote:

That's the last panel we see him in. And No.8 didn't destroy Muscle Tower in the manga like he did in the anime.

Yeah cause I remember in the anime Hatchan or Goku flicked the bomb away and it just so happened to randomly land on Murasaki's cheek. LOL So um... what happened to the Muscle Tower in the manga, they just walked off and left it standing?
