I've heard people claim that on here too. Same case with the whole back scratcher joke, which is even weirder to me because that's blatantly just a bad pun written by the punch up team.

The Z version. I have yet to see the Japanese Kai version. The english dub version of that scene is a joke. It's hard to take anything seriously about that scene when you have Freeza pretending he's at a rodeo.

They probably thought the scene was so sick and whatnot they had to throw in some childish jokes to not freak out the kiddies too much. Honestly, for me the Freeza-impales-Kuririn scene as well as Videl's beatdown are probably the 2 most graphic and painful-to-watch scenes onf DBZ.

The difference is at least they treated the Videl scene with some respect (Kudos english dub, I guess you can do some things right.)

Honestly, I found Freeza's jokes in the old dub quite sadistic. Think about it. He's doing all kinds of brutal things, yet he takes them all lightly enough to joke about it. Sure, it's not the same as the Japanese version, but still.

Maybe in a capable actor's hands like Ayres that crap would sound sadistic, instead of sadistically painful to my ears combined with granny-Freeza voice. Either way it's terrible unfaithful dialogue and should be left in the past with tranny Freeza where it belongs.
