I think I remember that one. XD The only thing that kept me going back was the Fanfiction. I'd just started getting into it and was considering writing some. If I'm remembering right, at the time, Fanfiction.net had a horrid interface... (the current's pretty decent) so I was thinking of submitting to PN. And then poof, they were gone before I'd even written anything.

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Julian was also a staff member there near the end. :)

Why? There's some good discussion taking place, here.

1999 was also the first year when I actually saw DBZ air on YTV. They were boasting about this "brand new show" despite that it had been playing in the States for about three years before then.

And Japan about 10 years before that. :)

YTV's had DBZ since 1996. They were boasting the new episodes (Freeza saga) in 1999. Hell, YTV even had the Dragon Ball pilot back in '95. I remember watching it at like 5am. LOL, I even remember watching the Saiyan and Namek sagas like 5 times in a row from '96 to '99.

I remember that well, my introduction to Dragonball. Watching the Pilaf Saga over and over and over and over again :P

That's what introduced me to DB. Then I found the manga. I was all freaked at how I had missed Goku's whole damn life go by.

This all brings back my memories of introduction... oblivious of everything in the world of DragonBall Z, I was instantly hooked.
As far as DragonBall goes though, I was a tough sell... I remember when CN' aired it, I caught the first episode, and then I kind of forgot about it, then I started watching it a little again during the fight with General Blue [when they were in that under water Pirates Cove, sort of place] and it was those three episodes that made me say: "Damn... this is lame."

Now though, being significantly older, and more open minded; I love the series, and am also bridging my gap between anime and manga, however slowly.

Wow does time ever fly...

Ah yes Planet Namek. The site that lied and made themselves a giant FUNi bitch for sucker fans.

Thank God I got into DB when the real classic sites were around. (albeit HQ who was even more of a pompous ass than I). David Rutledge rules and Wuken would rock if he ever sent me my prizes.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I remember the contest (I didn't enter, though; not sure why). What were you supposed to win, and would the prizes even be relevant anymore?

AAAHHH! I thought and still think that Planet Namek was the greatest DB/Z/GT website EVER made.

Too bad.

I remember Planet Namek. I remember visiting that site back in high school when I was supposed to do work. :P Back then that site was my favourite website to go to on the internet. I would have to say that my most favourite thing on that site would have to be the character bios for every character in the DB universe. That site had tons of other good stuff on it too.

So, does anybody know why that site shut down?

I remember being on it one week and the next it was gone. Computer class was so boring after that till somebody showed me stickdeath.com which was the shit back then. That's also when I found about newgrounds.com.

James (Mr.E) lost interest and didn't want to pay server and domain costs. So he jumped ship. I stuck around the DB fandom and became a part of DaizEX. :)

Hmmm. I think the only two sites that had complete bios were UDBZIS and Pojo (who ripped off UDBZIS).
