I know it's cliché to fall back on this argument, but he liked Linda Young's portrayal of Freeza.

The fact that he liked what Ayres replaced would indicate he went into the situation biased not to like what was to come. I really believe that Bias won't let quite a large number of dub fans step back and appreciate Ayres' Freeza voice for what it is.

I think he already announced that he would be playing Freeza in all of the future video games in an interview. Whether or not he got on the cast before or after recording for RB2 began, I don't know.
