Hahaha, oh man. Haha, that was gold.

So, who's doing these NickToons edits? If Funi is doing the edits then I can see the continuation of an edited TV-Y7 Z Kai. But if it's NickToons and they did these edits under the assumption that they would meet 4Kids standards only to hear that 4Kids is going to edit further, wouldn't you think that NickToons would stop their edits and play the show uncut (given, they already are going with Spirit Bomb, etc.)?
I guess I'm just not following this situation as closely as most others here, but that thought crossed my mind. I mean:

Ocean Productions is the company responsible for editing the show into the (Nicktoons) TV version.

I'm not going to jump on the "hate 4kids" bandwagon, but let's just say this will be interesting.

Depends on who you ask. I've heard people say it's FUNimation and I've heard people say it's Nicktoons. The general consensus, though, seems to be that every visual edit is the demand of the network. Dialogue edits are a mix of the network's demands and FUNimation's own writing.kaloosa wrote:So, who's doing these NickToons edits?
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Question: Can they alter the music like they did on the original DB/Z/GT? I know they replaced DAN DAN Kokoro with the rap version for DBGT as well. In my knowledge, Kai on CW4KIDS might get the same treatment as Z/GT did.

Wait, Nick Toons censored Ghurd's head? Or am I missing something here? I don't watch it on Nick Toons, I am just patiently waiting for the next Blu-ray release which still probably won't catch up to what they're showing on TV now.
Anyway, I think they're going to censor the actual fighting. Like put big shapes over the shots as they connect (think what Saban did with fights such as Vegeta vs Gohan). You know, those things that used to pop up in the old 60's Batman show that say, "Wham!" and "Pow!"? Yeah those, only without the words... I hope.

They didn't show Vegeta decapitate Ghurd's head off from his body and but when they did a pan shot of the battle field you could see Ghurd's body without his head.TheGreatness25 wrote:Wait, Nick Toons censored Ghurd's head? Re: 4Kids Confirms DBZ:Kai on CW4Kids Block and Possible Editing
People concerned about the "human to human contact" rule that 4kids apparently has to follow, don't forget that the majority of the fights in DBZ are technically "human to alien" contact. The Saiyans and some of Freeza's henchmen may look human, but they are technically from other planets, therefore making those fights fall under "fantasy violence", which is apparently a'ok. I personally think people are overreacting about how much more edited Kai could be on Toonzai. The guy didn't even say he knew for sure that Kai's edit on Toonzai will differ from Nicktoons. The show is focused so much on fighting that I doubt they would have even agreed to airing it on Saturday mornings if they didn't know for sure that they could get away with enough. 4kids learned from the One Piece fiasco, and it's not like they didn't know what DBZ was all about this past decade. I say we wait and see an actual episode of Kai air on 4kids during next month's preview before we jump the gun over-speculating just how edited it will be.
As for the music, I highly HIGHLY doubt that will change. 4kids is NOT involved with the actual production of the dub, and it wouldn't be necessary when FUNi already has the rights for the music and has been airing the show with that music on both Nicktoons' channel and Nicktoons' stream. I imagine the opening will be the same edited down version with Vic Mignogna singing, and the ending won't air at all because 4kids never airs the original end credits sequence.

If they're the studio in Calgary I'm thinking of, thought they did ok on Zeta Gundam, though hearing different voices for Char and Kai threw me off quite a bit. And while I admit I haven't seen too much by them, I still say this was their greatest contribution:linkdude20002001 wrote:They're called Ocean Productions now. But anyways, they really need to learn to pronounce Japanese names correctly. And yes, Blue Water Studios sucks. Blue Water's G Gundam dub is only kind of good by accident, since the Japanese cast is stilted and weird sounding on purpose to suit the cheesiness of it, and so the usual awful Blue Water dub actually kind of fits the show.
Their Zeta Gundam dub should subject to a war crimes tribunal.

Re: 4Kids Confirms DBZ:Kai on CW4Kids Block and Possible Editing
I dunno, I sense genuine feeling out of original Mobile Fighter G Gundam, espicially the Love Love Tenkyoken scene. There was still acting going on, there was still an revelation in the performance. The Blue Water dub doesn't have actual acting going on, which in the end doesn't even make the cheese well done.
Wait, what's this thread about? Uh...assuming there are further edits made, I suspect more things to laugh at, eventually forget, and then have brought back up unexpectedly in forum discussions for the next decade. Yeah...

Really? To think after all these years they're working on Dragon Ball again. I doubt they'll produce their own dub, though.linkdude20002001 wrote:It says right in the credits "Video Editing and Production: Ocean Productions Inc.".TheBlackPaladin wrote:Depends on who you ask. Not unless Westwood Media or some other company really wants to. But so far, I think it's not happening. It would be cool, though, to see a dub using the Vancouver talent pool that was actually done with great care.

I bet 10/10 that their going to change the music and replace Dragon Soul with some crappy rap song they made, because what else are they going to edit?

Re: 4Kids Confirms DBZ:Kai on CW4Kids Block and Possible Editing
I think the only way they are going to edit the music at all is possibly the opening/ending and shorten the length of the music in the show, shortening it due to edits.
Guys, this isn't like FUNimation gave them Kai and said "Go Nuts!", it's simply 4kids getting the rights to edit and air Kai on their block. If they want to make edits, fine, but music? I doubt it.
