Dragon Ball movie 2 DVD

Post by Kodoshin » Sun Feb 15, 2004 1:45 am

Has anyone heard anything about this at all? I'm really mystified as to why this doesen't have a DVD release (or at least a date or some mention of it) when it's been out cut/uncut on VHS for quite some time now.

It's almost like Funimation totally forgot about it.

Well, Funimation doesn't have the rights to release it yet (at least I don't think). I want to say that Pioneer owns the distributing rights to the first three movies.

He's talking about Dragonball, not Dragonball Z.

As for the question, it might be a matter of that they don't have permission to do a DVD yet, or that they simply don't see any need at the moment, or that... umm.. I don't really know. It's a bit miffy.

Umm, if that's 'Mystical Adventure" you're talking about, it did have a DVD release. I know because a copy is sitting in my shelf behind me as I write this.

Oh yes, that's right. "Mystical Adventure" is the third movie. Well, I believe Kidmark also has the rights to that one, so that's why there hasn't been a release yet. Either that or Funimation's just being their usual "we-don't-have-any-rhyme-or-reason-to-what-we-do-" selves.

I'd be somewhat suprised if Kidmark has the rights to it given that it has both a cut and uncut dub VHS available, and I believe it uses the more recent dub cast on top of that (not positive though).

Heh who knows, maybe their remaining DVD release schedule for Dragon Ball goes something like:

Baba/Tenshinhan/Pilaf/Movie 2

At least thats what I'm hoping.

Don't forget Movie 1! Just because Madman will be releasing it with the "Pilaf" set doesn't mean FUNimation will be doing the same!

*sigh* I wish they had some sort of logical system I could follow with their releases, but... I gave up trying to make it make sense a long time ago. :?

DB Movie 2 is not Kidmark's. It's all FUNimation's. In fact, I believe it was the first uncut tape they put out, and the first thing the FUNi cast dubbed, just before the Ginyu tapes. There really shouldn't be anything holding them back from releasing it. (If there is, it would be nice if they'd mention it.)

They made some slight mention of a DVD two years ago, but obviously, nothing has come of it. Then again, who knows. I was very surprised to see them announce DB Movie 4 last year.

I figure by the time the first two DB movies come out on DVD, I'll be old enough to legally celebrate with champagne and stuff. (2006, if you're keeping score.)

Florida...would that mean you'd be 18 or 21?

Well, even so, I'll probably be old enough to drink by the time those movies come out. Pilaf saga may take that long, too, along with the rest of DBZ. The DBZ movies have been coming out hella slow, as are the unreleased TV episodes.

I thought it was 19...?

Meh... I live right across the border anyway. In less than a month, all I'll have to do is drive across, go the duty-free store, make a U-turn, and deny everything to customs. Pretty simple, if I do say so myself. 8)

Does it matter what the legal age is? It's CANADA people! It's only a suggestion up here! Like age restrictions on movies! (Can't sleep...Freddy'll eat me...God DAMN why did I see that when I was 4?!)

Ahh, how true. Now if only we could get it extended to anime! 8) And everybody saw Freddy when they were four.
