Eh........that's......somewhat feasible, I guess. There are still commercials on Nicktoons, though. Furthermore, if that was really the case that they were concerned with a few seconds of extra time, they could have done what they did with "Dragon Soul" and simply released a shortened version of the original.

Also, no original next episode preview. Instead, it's done in a comic book style.
LeprikanGT wrote:I already don't like this version; there is a HUGE black bar on each side of the picture making it way smaller than my tv screen.
Er, you know they're airing Z Kai in 4:3, right?[/quote]

Yes I'm aware of that, but when it is on Nicktoons, it fills my entire screen.

And I love the Manga panel previews, Kai is new, so thats something new to see; doesn't change the home release so it's interesting.

To their credit, they did at least keep the original musical score. I had a really bad feeling they were gonna change that. That kind of marketability edit, more than any other, gets on my nerves.

But hey, they didn't do it. Thank you for that, 4kids.

If anyone could post a YouTube clip of Farmer With Shotgu--sorry, Farmer With Laser Blaster, I'd appreciate it.

Reason: Didn't need its own thread, so merged with this one. Left it as its own post though.

Again, they did to a small extent. In this case, the revised next episode preview. Plus Sean Schemmel said way back that Ocean was preparing their own dub of Kai in which they wanted to change the musical score. The thought crossed my mind that he may have been hearing ideas about the planned airing of Kai on 4Kids and mistook it for an Ocean dub. None of that came to pass, though, so all's well there.

How do we know that Funi didn't do that themselves to make it fit in the allotted time?

Watching it right now.

Farmer with a Shotgun is now Farmer with a Laser Gun.

I didn't spot any notable edits to the gun itself, but it fires glowing blue bullets.
Super Saiyan Blue is not a creative color.
DBZ Movie 3 told a stronger and more believable "Evil Goku" story in 60 minutes than Dragon Ball Super has in 20 episodes. And it did it with better visuals and score.

Dude, again. 4Kids has NOTHING to do with the editing being done. They're simply BROADCASTING it. FUNi is the only one who has the license to the show in the US. 4Kids does not. Everything you see on TV was done by FUNi for the network it's airing on.

Oh and the Next Episode preview is done by 4Kids.
How so? Its other next episode previews from this morning were done in the Comic Book style, with the rest of Toonzai look.

I started my introduction to Dragonball Kai with the Blu-ray disc unedited release, then followed up from there watching the end of the fight with Vegeta through the Namek Saga on Nicktoons via my DVR. This morning, I was eating my breakfast and just happened upon the 4kids premier while eating so I watched it to see what they'd done with it. Considering I did not see the Nicktoons version of the first episode (Only the Blu-ray disc version) I have a question. Roshi's beer was edited white (to be milk in a mug?) Was this the same edit on Nicktoons, or was it a different color? You know, I remember some televised version of Z from years ago having him drinking Pepsi Blue in a mug too. I'm curious, of all the versions of Z and Kai, how many different beverages Roshi has been seen drinking in that scene over the years. Anyone know? It's one of the most infamous edits to the first episode of Dragonball Z and Dragonball Kai ever IMO.
"Of" =/= "Have"

Contractions:
-Should have = Should've
-Could have = Could've
-Would have = Would've

The heck does "should of" even mean anyway? Think about what those two words mean individually, and then try to read them back to back in a sentence and make sense of it. Are you forming a prepositional phrase, is "should" a part of a larger grouping, or are you just typing random words based on how you think you hear them used verbally? Perhaps take a moment to contemplate this, and see if it becomes as mind jarring for you to look at as it does for me..

It was the same edit as it was on Nicktoons.

Was the glowing blue bullet on Nicktoons too?

Seriously, because that kind of ridiculous editing is 4Kids' specialty.

No, and once again; 4Kids did NOT edit the actual episode. That was an edit supplied by FUNi for said broadcast. If it had truly been 4Kids, the entire gun would have been recolored, rather than just part of it.

Actually wasn't Ocean credited as doing the edits in the Nicktoons version? Couldn't it be them also doing the edits for the 4Kids block?

Wouldn't Funimation be editing the show to 4Kid's standards?

4Kids has no right to edit the show, just air it.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Finally, just watched the episode and I was surprised by how little edits there was. The only major edit which has already been mentioned was the gun of the Farmer.

This has nothing to do with the edit of the show but that guy on the surfboard yelling "Toonzai" gets really annoying.

Aside from the terribly cut audio samples "KAME-HAAAAAAAAAA", absolutely incomprehensible selection of video (Bubbles has the most screentime in this promo), terrible CG Dragon Balls, and just not letting the audience know what the fuck is going on or why they should watch this show, it's an acceptable promo.

Who put this together? They should be fired. This is beyond awful. This is an embarrassment. It's entirely too obvious that whoever put that together has no goddamn clue what they're doing or what the show is about.
Ugh.
I wish Piccolo would hit me with the Masenkopo to end my misery.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.
