Japanese DVD Question

Post by The S » Wed Jun 01, 2005 11:32 am

I was wondering how much of the Dragon Ball trilogy has been released on DVD in Japan, outside of the Dragon Boxes.

I recall having seen a few Japanese GT DVDs, and some of the last few DBZ movies (9, 11, and 12) also on DVD.

However, at one point on eBay, I came across a Japanese DB DVD of when Son Gokuu had to go find Lunch, and the owner said "This DVD is in the same condition as it was released first in 1987!" o_O
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Nope..they're probably talking about the audio/video quality being in the same condition.

I'm fairly certain there was no Japanese domestic release on DVD prior to the DragonBoxes; perhaps what you saw were bootleg DVD's, or DVD's from another country? Or you might've mistaken the laser discs for DVD's?

That last one has my guess since the Japanese seemed to be NUTS for laserdiscs before DVDs came out. And here in America, we only seemed to use them in school as teaching tools!
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Before the Dragon Boxes, the only releases Japan saw were the actual movies (DB 1-3, DBZ 1-13, 10th anniversary) on VHS and LaserDisc.

That's it.

Ah. Must've been bootlegs then. Because they were definately DVDs, and definately Japanese.
