I wanna be God! (Playable character question)

Post by The S » Thu May 26, 2005 10:33 pm

Is there any DB or DBZ games that let you play as Kami-sama? My main reason for asking is because he's playable in the preview demo of the fangame I'm working on, Dragon Ball Z: Head Cha La (Bandai stole my name of DBZ: Sparking, so I had to improvise), and I want to be truthful if I tout it as being the first game to feature Kami-sama as a playable character. Moreover, I've just always wanted to play as him, as he's a cool character (and no, Piccolo fused with Kami isn't the same). I don't even think he's playable on MUGEN!

Actually, there apparently is a Kami MUGEN character out there. I haven't seen it, but this was in a database of known MUGEN stuff.

"kami, stages/penhasco-t.def, music=sound/sb2_06.mp3 ;Kami from Piccolo sb2 by GohanSSM2"

But I don't think many people would count MUGEN characters for this. If you counted MUGEN, you'd have to say stuff like SSJ34235 Gogetunks or some silly crap like that is playable. :P

As far as official games go, I don't know of any playable Kami.

You're using Game Maker, aren't you? Do you have any screens? I like checking out Game Maker stuff.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't counting MUGEN, but merely pointing out that I hadn't even heard of a MUGEN character of him.

I don't have screens right now, as I'm still doing spritework, but I will have screens as soon as possible. Yes, I am using Game Maker - ever since I failed terribly at C++, it's all I'll ever use until I can afford to take an actual class on C++.

BTW, I can't find the demo of Saiyan's Pride on my HD... is there a link of it you can give me?

Yeah, I never knew a Kami MUGEN character was out there either. I had to look it up. Even then, I didn't actually find it downloadable or anything though. :P

I see. Well, in my case, I'm still using Game Maker just cause I like it. I can't handle more professional coding like C++, and Game Maker gives me all I need for my games. So I'm happy with it. Good luck if you ever take C++ though.

Saiyajin Pride? Yeah, I have it here: http://avalanchestudios.net/leotaku/dbzsp.html

I stopped working on it ages ago though, due to strange problems with the editable file, among other things. I've since moved on to making original stuff instead. I could never finish a DBZ game.

Yeah, I was working on that untitled DB fighting game (as in pre-Z), but I lost interest in it. All I got was Chibi Son Gokuu vs. Teen Son Gokuu... and not much else besides that. I didn't even have damage and ki down yet.

Yeah, but hopefully I'll have my first demo released before Sparking!

It's also a possibility that he's going to be in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, but that's only assuming it's going to be about DragonBall, too, which might not happen since it's "Dragon Ball Z Budokai." I'm just hoping they're calling it that to let everyone know it's the same series of games.

I wanna play young Krillin! :P
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

Budokai Tenkaichi and Sparking are the same game. Budokai Tenkaichi is the US title.

Well, it being called "Z" never stopped them from throwing in a few GT characters and young Goku into Budokai 3. :P

Also, "Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokuuden" was called "Z", and didn't have anything to do with DBZ at all. It went from the meeting of Goku and Bulma to the "death" of Daimaou.

The more similar thing that I saw to what they search is the " Dragoon Ball Z Legends " for PS, where in the first level Kamisama he dies if Picoro dies, and where hereinafter(later on) one can handle the super namek - that basically is equal-.

Really they have Kami for M.U.G.E.N.? Would someone me make the favor send it to my account of yahoo?

Sorry for sounding stupid, but what's Game Maker and where can I buy/download it?

Hey, I'd be happy to help!

http://www.cs.uu.nl/people/markov/gmaker/

It's not the easiest thing in the world, but it's a lot simpler to use than Visual Basic or C++

Oh, I didn't know that link was still around. I thought they changed it to only gamemaker.nl :P

I agree, if you aren't very familiar or comfortable with coding, it may seem a little intimidating at first, but actually, it's pretty easy to get into if you invest a little time in learning it. I took ages to get my first game done, back in like May 2003 I think. But since then, I've cranked out like 4 more games, 1 demo (that I posted above for The S), and I have 2 more projects going right now. There's also a simpler drag and drop method to making games, if you don't want to do coding.

And I recommend that you download the action decoder program here if you want to do coding. It translates the drag and drop icons into the coding.

Sorry for getting off topic.
