VegettoEX wrote:So here are some random thoughts I've been having:

We typically learn about any respective upcoming game's theme song a few months before its release. For the original Raging Blast in 2009, we learned about Hironobu Kageyama's "Progression" in a Jump scan that July (the game was released in November, the relatively-consistent time frame for the franchise's major console game releases for years... with the exception of Burst Limit, which came out in June 2007, though you could argue that METEOR was the "major" release that year... and speaking of which...). Digging back a couple years earlier, the same thing happened with Sparking! METEOR -- we learned about "Super Survivor" in July for the game's October release.

We are heading into September 2010, with Raging Blast 2 due out in early November. There has not been a single peep about a new song. Any trailer seen for the game so far features some generic guitar rock; trailers for previous games have started featuring the game's theme song at this point along the way in their life cycle.

The wording for Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans has been pretty vague. I could be entirely wrong, but I would not be surprised to see the feature take the "place" of what would normally be an "opening" to the game -- that is to say, it may auto-play the feature after the initial opening studio credits (and probably have an option to watch it from the regular menu screens, too).

I'm getting pretty concerned that we won't actually be getting a new vocal theme this time around. In terms of console games, we've had an opening "theme song" dating all the way back to the PS1 era, and all with vocals since Final Bout. Some games here and there may have recycled older songs (the first DBZ/Budokai, Sparking! and Sparking! NEO, for example)... but they've always been there in some capacity.

Anyone else have any random thoughts or concerns about this stuff? Or is it just me who's year-after-year waiting to toss my money at Kageyama? Then again, we're not even talking about a CD single release, and I'm no longer even worrying that Kageyama has been shoved aside with all the Kai hotness -- we're talking about a song existing for the game at all. :(
It's not just the music either. Normally this time of year the full roster is announced. We have Seen E3, Comic-Con, Gamercon(?...the one that just finished in Germany) and TGS is right around the corner. Normally everything, if not almost everything with the exception of a surprise, is announced by now. Maybe they are trying to milk all the hype they can before a release. I'd wait until TGS is over before I get concerned.

A random question I have(something that crossed my mind at work) is how much disc space will PtEtSS take up. With a Sub only release, do you think Bandai ran out of room? I'm pretty sure a Blu-ray disc could handle holding the game, the OVA and duel audio options(for both the game and OVA), but what about a normal DVD?
I'm trying to avoid a fanboy war by saying this, but do you think that if this game was PS3 only we'd see more options for the game? Also, if there is barely enough room, what's stopping them from adding a separate DVD disc for the OVA?
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Like I said why pallete swap when you can have color edit? At first I thought he was in Kid Trunks' gi but then I saw his shoes were the same as his regular clothes.

I sure hope this doesn't happen. It sounds like Sabat trying to sound young while still adding the rasp. Not pleasant.

That is the same costume he had as an alternate in Burst Limit, IIRC. Goku's looks like his manga colours. Gogeta has a red belt instead a blue belt, I guess that's fun.
Are these supposed to be DLC or something?

They're a pre-order bonus off of some website. Or as I prefer to call it, bullshit.

Man, I really do hate the alternate costumes in DBZ games. Instead of palette swapping how about actual outfits they wear?

I usually don't care about alternative costumes but for games like the Tenkaichi series that are based on trying to heavily imitate every aspect of the show I agree. Of course then we get characters like Dabra, Nail and Cell Jr. that only have one outfit/color.

That sort of defeats the entire purpose of having alternative costumes, they were originally conceived so you can easily identify who you were if two people picked the same character. Whats the harm in giving them 2 outfits even if one is a palette swap?

Didn't intend for it ta be said like that. Like for Future Trunks (fighting) they could shorten his hair like in "The Plan to Destroy the Saiyans. Or take away his ponytail or give em his look in "Broly : The Legendary Super Saiyan". Same for Goten and Trunks, give em outfits they actually wear within the series.

Those "exclusive" costumes for those characters just seem like grasping at straws of random exclusiveness... they're just palette-swaps. :-/ I'm all right with palette-swaps if there's a relative amount of creativity involved.

Take, in Sparking! METEOR for instance, Vegeta (Scouter)'s last costume, the discoloured Saiyan armour and brown hair for instance. Or Piccolo Daimao's manga colours alternate.

Trunks should have a short-haired alternate... which somehow I expect to be what they'll do, considering he's very obviously in the film.

While we're on the subject of alternates, am I the only one who thinks Cyborg Freeza should be an alternate for Final Form Freeza? The only discern-able difference is appearance... he never really fought in his Cyborg form except the Supernova, which, could be a swappable Ultimate. Not to mention, Final Form 100% Cyborg Freeza could be interesting. 8)

Subbing is much cheaper than dubbing.

This is true but if Bandai is going to go ahead and put money towards duel audio options for the game, like they have been with the other games, why not go all in and put money in to an OVA dub? Not trying to complain but it seems like having one audio option is a step back.

I agree with you about Gohan and Gogeta's(especially Gogeta's) but Goku's seems to be his manga colours, like Daimao's. Mystic Gohan, Future Gohan, and Goten also had their lighter manga colours as alternate costumes in BT3. I'm not sure about Raging Blast since I never played it.

I like the idea but I don't see it happening because that would require there to be Cyborg versions of his other forms. Cyborg 3rd Form Freeza would be awesome though.

It would be a badass what-if bonus. Sort of like in Sparking! METEOR with "MAX POWER!!" Jackie Chun or Buu clothes USS Vegeta in Raging Blast.

Super DBZ is a perfect example of what I'm talking about, it had alternate outfits and pallete swaps for the same character.

Jackie Chun actually used Max Power in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai. I'm not big on Mecha Freeza being an alternate, I like him being a separate character, like ultimate Gohan and Meta Coola. He could have an alternate based on his redux appearance on Super DBZ. Spiky tail, maybe the cannon on his shoulder.

Edit: Since people are talking about alternate manga colours around here, I made this topic, maybe someone from here can help me?

GAH, you're right about Jackie Chun. I can't believe I forgot that. :O

I do agree about Ultimate Gohan and Metal Coola though. The thing is with them, they do have their own unique, individual move sets. I saw Ultimate Gohan's status in the Budokai games as a mere transformation (a drastically less "transformative" event for a character in those games than in the Sparking! series) to be a complete failure on Dimps' part.

I know many people bitch about there being "too many Gohans" and such, but the thing is, unlike other characters, all of his stages are absolutely different from each other. kid to teen, teen to adult, adult to Great Saiyaman, adult to ultimate, adult to future. The nature of his character is such that several versions of him are, if not necessary, fair.

I, for one, would absolutely love to see Ultimate Gohan 1, who transforms into Ultimate Gohan 2. That is, Kai-outfit Gohan with a sword transforming into Goku gi Ultimate Gohan. That would be perfection.
