Wow, I'm surprised at this actually. I remember several people speculating the US releases of the DBOX might be a limited release. Not to justify an increase in price, but just in general because the orange sets were already out. For other series that have hit this, a lot of times the prices started going up if they never produced anymore. I remember the Transformer Season Sets were sky high until some other company got the rights and re-released them. I wonder what will be become of the prices of these in another year or two.

Currently, there are nine new copies and one used with the price of $37.76.

Chances do not come twice. And it was a good thing I didn't waste the chance back at July when it was $25.99.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to rethink my plans for purchasing the future Dragon Boxes... I was planning on getting Dragon Ball season 4 and 5 next and was going to wait to get Dragon Box 4, but if the Dragon Boxes really are having a limited run, then I need to buy the upcoming Dragon Boxes as soon as I can... :(

I'm not too sure how I feel about it being out of stock (with no signs of coming back) on amazon like this. I see it as either a terrible foreshadowing of the Dragon Box Z's cancellation, which in my universe is like the single worst thing that could ever possibly happen in the Dragon Ball market, because honestly the Dragon Box Z's are absolutly the best thing funimation has ever released by far. But on the other hand, the idea of the Dragon Box Z's being limited 9as metioned by a previous poster) actually seems kinda cool to me in the bigger picture, assuming that could be why it's gone. It would make my collection feel more prestegious and special to know it's gone for good once they are off the market, (on the other hand, I do feel bad for someone who hadn't picked it up yet) luckily I bought the best buy deals for like 20-something dollars each.

But then again, all this thinking about what this means, could, and may very well be, wasted brain power. It could mean nothing, and they could restock anytime now.

Typically, when they are going to restock something they don't take off the option to buy it new, and they have a message saying "Out of stock (more on the way)". Here it looks like any other listing of theirs which is no longer stocked and out of print, like old games and whatnot.

Does anyone know if before they ran out of stock there was a message saying "Only (x amount) in stock (order soon)", or if it said "Only (x amount) in stock (more on the way)"?

I bet this is just FUNimation's way of testing the market. It sold well enough to keep it in stock till now, but it's time to let it go OOP.

And I don't mind, it's better to keep them somewhat limited unlike the orange bricks which can be found anywhere now. Glad I got the first 3 boxes in time.

Amazon is not the only retailer in the world. Settle down, other sites have them listed as back ordered. more are coming.

That would be an awful odd way of "testing the market." Metalwario64 is correct though... Amazon will have a note saying "more is on the way" ... that said, it could mean that Amazon isn't going to be bothered with ordering more - although did someone say they read Dbox2 was the better selling one? If that was the case, you would expect more on the way. We will know if for certain if those 3rd party sellers start to raise price. It would be an indication to get the things while the getting is good.

Recently, I've seen a lot of things in my Amazon wish list fluctuate between appearing out of print and then becoming purchasable from them again. In one case, the item was even deleted entirely (just black text that didn't link anywhere and had no price or thumbnail), but I found a new listing for the same item by searching for it again.

In other words, Amazon has been weird lately. So I wouldn't worry about it until it starts happening with other retailers.

Ah, I see. I really hope that's the case here. Amazon has been a bit glitchy for me lately, with the whole layout even being messed up for a while several weeks back.

Dragon Ball Z DVD Dragon Box Z Set 2 is no longer available at RightStuff either, so definitely looks like the Dragon Boxes are limited editions.

Holy crap!! It doesn't even show up in the listings any more which means they no longer stock it!! I was right, but damn do I ever wish I was wrong in this case...

This changes some of my future plans for purchasing Dragon Boxes... I am going to have to get each future set within a couple of months of their release date to safely secure a purchase... I want the Dragon Boxes, so even if I want something else more, I still need to get the Dragon Boxes anyway because likely those other things can wait, while the Dragon Boxes cannot...

What worries me is if a disc somehow gets scratched and stops working, then I'd have absolutely no way of replacing it, other than repurchasing the corresponding orange brick, and for "Season Two"... I'd hate to have to replace Dragon Box 2 episodes, with the same episodes on Season Two, which is so much brighter and off color than any other season set...

Or you can just buy the corresponding Dragon Box Singles.
It's a good thing that what contains in season 2 is mostly boring stuff.

Are you unaware of the fact that the Japanese Dragon Box singles contain no English subs whatsoever, in addition to the fact that one single costs around the price you can find an American Dragon Box for?

Yes, I am fully aware, but are you unaware that you can copy the Dragon Box footage, use a subtitle program to insert the sub(title)s that you can get by retyping or copying the sub(title)s from the Season Sets or any other DVDs, and create a new disc?

That's a pretty ridiculous process to suggest to folks who simply want the ease of purchasing something and forgetting about it. Is it possible? Yes. Have people done it? Yes. Is it a last-ditch effort someone could do? Sure.

Are the people picking up FUNimation's domestic Dragon Box releases typically going to go to the extra effort? Probably not. That's why they're buying these instead of the Japanese ones.

Guys, one question: if the US Dragon Boxes were supposed to be limited, wouldn't FUNimation have used that fact and promoted it to sell them all faster? Because it looks like right now, a lot of people are waiting until later to get them (myself included), but I'm positive that if FUNimation had said "Limited edition! GET IT NOW!", more people would have rushed out and gotten theirs already.
