Post by Treklin » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:28 am

Here we go with the German Dragonball Z DVD Boxsets! The German Dragonball Z Release is based on the French Cut and same Video Source in 4:3 format!
The first 2 Boxes cost each 50 € (~70 $ - 18.03.2010) the 3rd Box should be available for 67 € (~90 $ - 18.03.2010) !!!
I can only say: A huge Rip-Off and that for Non-Dragon-Boxes! A big shame on the publisher KAZÉ !!!

There will be at the end 10 Boxsets and at the moment (18.03.2010) the first 2 Boxsets are already released.

Here the Release Dates & Episodes:

The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

What exactly does this mean? That this release is from a video source that the French once used at some point? Because the German boxes seem to look horrible compared to the French ones.

They look a lot like the domestic Pokemon season releases in terms of color scheme and overall design.

Yeah, this was the original French TV source; I think the current French box sets have Dragon Box footage.

I wish FUNi was more creative with the art on the season sets like these box sets. Especially with the artwork on the discs.

The German TV version is based on the French material wich is a mess. Full of inconsistent cuts, no titlecards, no eyecatchers, no episode previews.
On the German DVDs is exactly the same material and only the German dub. So, what we get are more or less TV recordings.

Yep but it doesn't matter. I mean, there are so many threads about the same topic in this forum. We're used to it.

Trunks from DBZ movie 9, Bojack Unbound on box 4?

I'll be pissed if SSJ2 Gohan is used on a cover.

How is the German dub overall? I've heard mixed reviews. The average German fan that I've been able to talk to seems to love it, but I've talked to a few who hate it. I don't speak enough German to know if the scripts are loyal or not, and the acting seems to be a mixed bag from what I've seen. Having said that, Tommy Morgenstern (German Adult Goku, I gather) does do a pretty intense power-up scream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzz9ToTQvxU
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I like the german dub, but i only know it, I have watched some episodes with the original japanese dub but still I like the german dub.

Many german DBZ Fans who watched the japanese dub first and read the original japanese Manga dislike the german dub for the voiceactors (who don't sound like the japanese) and the the german Names some charakters got (Goku for exsample is always called Son-Goku in the german dub, like Gohan is called Son-Gohan and Goten Son-Goten)

Also the german Version of the series is edited and cut, because they used the french AB TV Masters instead of the uncut japanese ones - but that doesn't stop the german voiceactors to swear many curses I first came across thanks to DBZ ^^

But I think timo can give you a better insight about the german dub etc ;)
