Well, I think that he was really trying to absorb Brolly, but only because (DBM) Brolly is unique in his abilities (DBM LSSJ).

That is what interests Buu, unique abilities. That and having fun fighting strong opponents. When Brolly was taken out of the picture, all that remained was "having fun fighting strong opponents" because Vegetto, Gohan and Bra, despite being very strong, don`t have any special ability that interests Buu and that he lacks. He already has Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, Trunks, etc, in him who, despite being weaker than Vegetto or Bra, are not very different at all.
And Buu can have more fun fighting them by letting them heal up and fighting them in a proper tournament match. Therefore, "cya in the matches!".

The original version implied that Boo's intentions were probably never to absorb Broly at all, but to pick a fight. Basically it comes down to him wanting to do one of the following:

1) Free Broly and fight him.

2) Make it seem like he wants to free Broly so that Vegetto, Pan and Gohan fight him.

3) Make it seem like he wants to free Broly so that Vegetto, Pan and Gohan fight him. After defeating them, he'd free Broly and fight him.

The original version of what Vegetto says at the end is more along the lines of "did he even want to" instead of "really trying to."

Yeah, the vibe I got was he just wanted to fight somebody who was in the mindset of fighting to the death (i.e. "going all-out!!")

Again we have to go through extra steps to learn what the characters are really saying because the creators seem incapable of signing on a reliable English translator, despite constant offers.

In this case... Not really. Although its true that in French its more "want" instead of "trying", a person can not really be trying to do something if he/she doesn`t want to do it. If that person wasn`t really trying to do something, than in truth, that person didn`t want that something. Its pretty much implied.

In other words, if Buu was really trying to absorb Brolly, then he wanted to absorb Brolly. And if he wasn`t actually trying to absorb Brolly, then he actually didn`t want to absorb him.

Therefore, "was he really trying to absorb him?" or "did he really want to absorb him?" are pretty much (and imply) the same.

I didn't really mean that this case was particularly bad. Just that severe or not there's something muddled in translation in almost EVERY page at this point.

There's also constant awkward phrasing. "Congrats for these fights"? Stray commas abound, too. It's not bad enough where you can't get the gist but in such professionally looking work it's a shame to have sloppy dialogue.

Come to think of it, Vegetto may get a zenkai(or whatever you wanna call that) now if he eats a Senzu, making him even more infinitely strong.

I thought the zenkai's were obsolete by the Cell arc though.
