Part 2 came in the mail today. Watching it now. There are a few dialog changes in the edited version that really didn't need to be there in the first place.

Krillin says "here goes!" before throwing a kienzan... in the DVD he says... well... "Kienzan!"

Also, there's a completely new version of the opening theme. Dunno if it's by Vic or not, but honestly;

It. Sounds. Terrible.

Not anywhere near as good as either previous versions of it.

I'll post if there's anything more notable I come across.

Seriously another take on Dragon Soul. I guess we'll be getting a new version each volume then.

Think you can get a video of the new opening up? I just searched on YouTube, nothing yet.

Sorry, no way of ripping it.

Also, on the DVD, we get... TAIYO-KEN!!

Krillin just said it. WHOOP!!

EDIT: Only problem being... Goku said "Solar Flare" a couple episodes ago. Oops!!

Instead of ripping it, are you able to film it with a camera then upload it on youtube?

Taiyo-ken hell ya!

Well that's just inconsistent. It's the TV version of "Special Beam Cannon" all over again.

A new Dragon Soul? WTF, man?

Funimation, what are you doing?

Not using Taiyo-Ken earlier could have been a mistake, the flaw of dubbing two versions of a show at once. Maybe they'll fix it in a later version.

It is inconsistent, but I mean I'd rather they say it correctly once than incorrectly both times.

I'd rather they say it incorrectly both times because this is a Funimation-produced Dragon Ball dub. In Dragon Ball, where the attack originated, it was Solar Flare, now suddenly in DBZ Kai it's Taiyo-ken ONCE.

Even if it sounds like shit, I'm interested in hearing the 3rd Dragon Soul. I'll be able to hear it on my own once I go and order the DVD; but, yeah.
Even if just a up to the TV Recording.

Hopefully now that the DVDs are out somebody will be able to rip a clean version of the English-dubbed song, "Over the Star."
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

FUNimation have increased the security on their DVDs and as such, makes it so much normal DVD programs cannot rip them. If you were to open it through such a program, it would freeze. I know ways around it but I'd rather not make that information public because it would lead to more piracy and considering the domestic state of anime, that would make things much worse. If someone wants to work with me on ripping the new version of Dragon Soul and whatnot, I'd be more than happy to help out. I would love to make a clean version of 'Over The Star', espically since we know who sings the song but that would depend on someone else right now because I wouldn't get the set for a while longer :<

I totally understand and I'm glad you're not giving that information out. I buy all of my anime (or watch it through legal simulcast streams). I only download English-dubbed songs because...well, first off I want to hear them (duh), and secondly because I was under the impression that since the English-dubbed versions of the songs will never be sold, it's technically not piracy. But I could be wrong. Is downloading English-dubbed songs illegal?

I don't think it is because while it may be on a DVD. It is unreleased on CD, so it's up to you to decide, but I'd say it's fine.

Well... uh... yeah. About as much as there was in the first volume.

Also, Dende's "brothers and sisters" screw-up was not fixed for the home release.

I am facepalming so hard right now.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Must not have been able to fix it in time for the dvd making to start...or they accidentally forgot to add it. Making 2-3 dubs at this point at once does lead to the occasional slipup.
