My timeline which is better than the Daizenshuu's...

There isn't really any way to know what day DBZ started on, so I just used the day the Daizenshuu uses. Hey, better than nothing, eh?

I'd like to note that Piccolo states that the day he became ruler of the world was May 9th. That was a day after the 22nd Budôkai.
I'm going off the assumption that the Budôkai is always on the same day, May 8th.

September 2th-Goku meets Bulma.

September 3th-Goku brings the lost sea turtle to his owner, Kame-Sen’nin.
-Goku is rewarded with his Kinto’un; Bulma gets Muten Rôshi’s Dragon Ball for showing him her “panties.”
-Goku defeats Oolong, who joins them on their journey to find the Dragon Balls; they get another Dragon Ball.
-Goku fights the desert bandit Yamcha.
-Yamcha fails to steal the Dragon Balls from Oolong’s camper after… an “incident.”

September 4th-Goku defeats Yamcha in a rematch.
-Goku finds Kame-Sen’nin, brings him to Fry-Pan Mountain, who uses the Kamehameha to put out the fire. They get Gyuu-Maô’s Dragon Ball.
-Goku learns the Kamehameha after seeing it used once.
-Goku defeats the Carrot Master… and puts him on the moon!
-Goku and the gang enter Pilaf’s castle to retrieve their stolen Dragon Balls. Pilaf tries to make a wish, but Oolong interrupts, and wishes for a pair of panties.
-Goku transforms into an Ôzaru and destroys Pilaf’s castle

September 5th-The next day, everyone heads off to West City, except for Goku, who wants to go train with Kame-Sen’nin. Kame-Sen’nin has Goku bring him a “hotty,” but this doesn’t work out so well…
-Kuririn comes to the Kame House, also for training. He helps Goku on his quest to find a woman. They meet Lunch.
-Kame-Sen’nin agrees to train them both.
-Kuririn cheats at the little game Kame-Sen’nin makes them play. Since Goku loses, he doesn’t get to eat dinner.
-Kame-Sen’nin, Lunch, and Kuririn get food poisoning and stay in bed for three days!

September 8th-Goku and Kuririn begin their 8 month training.

September 9th-Goku and Kuririn train with shells on their backs.

Around April 8th-Goku and Kuririn move a giant rock. They will wear even bigger shells for the remaining month of training

May 8th-The 21st Tenka’ichi Budôkai. “Jackie Chun,” Kame-Sen’nin’s alias, defeats Goku in the finals.

May 9th-Goku begins his journey to find his Suushinchuu, or four-star Dragon Ball.
-Goku defeats Colonel Silver and gets a Dragon Ball (which isn’t his Suushinchuu).
-Goku destroys the Red Ribbon Army’s “Muscle Tower” easily, and gets a Dragon Ball (again, not the four-star).

May 10th-Goku meets up with Bulma in West City and has her fix the Dragon Radar.
-Goku defeats General Blue in the underwater sea cavern and gets a new Dragon Ball.
-Goku finds himself in Penguin Village, home to the Dr. Slump (Toriyama’s first hit manga) characters. Arale easily defeats General Blue, and Goku gets a new radar built (by Turbo), since his was stolen by Blue before he was defeated.
-Taopaipai, an assassin hired by Commanded Red, kills General Blue to show Red his power, and goes off to kill Goku.
-Taopaipai kills a boy named Upa’s father, and thinks he kills Goku. Goku climbs Karin’s tower for training.

May 11th-Goku reaches the top of Karin Tower, and meets Karin-sama.

May 14th-Goku finally snatches the Chôseisui from Karin-sama
-Goku has a rematch with Taopaipai and easily outclasses him.
-Goku destroys the whole Red Ribbon Army and gets his sixth Dragon Ball.
-Goku and friends defeat Uranai Baba’s warriors (which include Goku’s dead grandfather), and find the location of the last Dragon Ball-Pilaf has it stored in a Dragon Radar-proof box!
-Goku defeats Pilaf’s robotic suits with little effort
-Goku wishes Upa’s father back to life, and begins his training for the 22nd Tenka’ichi Budôkai.

September 9th-The Saiyans arrive. Nappa is killed by Vegeta, and, with an extreme amount of teamwork, the gang manages to chase off Vegeta.

September 10th-Mr. Popo comes to Western City Hospital, takes Bulma to Yuzabit Highlands and shows her Kami’s spaceship. Destination: Planet Namek.

September 20th-Blast off to Planet Namek!

September 26th-Bulma converses with Gohan and Kuririn… in her underwear!

September 27th-Vegeta lands on Freeza Planet No. 79.

October 24th-Bulma, Gohan, and Kuririn land on Planet Namek.
-Goku leaves Earth to go to Planet Namek.
-Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, and Chaozu arrive at Kaiô-sama’s planet to train.

October 25th-Goku becomes used to 50 times Earth’s gravity.
-Kuririn and Dende reach The Great Elder’s home.
-Vegeta kills Zarbon.
- Kuririn makes another trip to The Great Elder’s home, bringing Gohan with him.

October 27th-Goku trains at 100 times Earth’s gravity.

October 28th-Goku finishes his training and decides to rest until he gets to Namek.

October 29th-Freeza realizes that Zarbon, not having come back after four days, must be dead.
-Gohan and Kuririn are found out by Vegeta, who quickly cuts them off before they reach The Great Elder’s home.
-The Ginyu Force arrives, defeats Vegeta, Gohan, and Kuririn, but they are easily defeated when Goku lands on Namek.

April 9th-Gohan and Goten train for the Budôkai. Goku trains in the afterlife. Videl starts to learn Ki control. Trunks and Vegeta train for the Budôkai in their gravity chamber.

April 19th-Videl is easily able to fly freely like Goten.

May 8th- The 25th Tenka’ichi Budôkai.
-The evil wizard Babidi steals Gohan’s energy in an effort to revive his monster, Majin Boo. Goku and the gang follow Babidi’s warriors to Babidi’s hideout, and defeat his warriors.
-Vegeta has the evil in his heart reawakened, and challenges Goku to a fight.
-Majin Boo is revived using the energy from Goku and Vegeta’s fight.
-Majin Boo easily outclasses Vegeta, who self-destructs in an effort to kill Boo. He fails.
-Goku turns Super Saiyan 3 and fights Majin Boo until Trunks finds the Dragon Radar at his home.
-Goku teaches the boys the basics of the Fusion Dance, and goes back to the afterlife.
-Goku finds Gohan training on Kaiôshin’s planet with the Z Sword.

May 9th-The boys continue training.
-Boo destroys a huge chunk of the population.
-Goten and Trunks perfect Fusion, creating Gotenks.
-Gohan breaks the Z Sword. Rô Kaiôshin comes out of the sword, and starts a magic ritual on Gohan that will make him extremely powerful.

May 10th-Boo kills about 80% of the population
-Mr. Satan befriends Boo. Mr. Satan and his puppy Bee are killed by two crazy gunman, causing Majin Boo to purge out his evil side (after healing Mr. Satan and Bee, of course).
-The evil Boo absorbs the good Boo, making a new, superior Boo.
-Boo comes to Kami’s tower, looking for the strong fighter (Gotenks). Gotenks is given an hour to train in the Room of Spirit and Time.
-Boo gets impatient, demanding that the warrior comes out, even though it’s been just thirty minutes.
-Boo fights Gotenks. It appears that Gotenks has lost, so Piccolo destroys the Room of Spirit and Time’s door, trapping them all in. Boo, enraged, makes a portal to the outside world after screaming.
-Gotenks powers up to Super Saiyan 3 and does the same. He fights Boo, but his fusion ends just before he can finish him off.
-The newly powered-up Gohan defeats Boo easily. Boo absorbs Super Gotenks and turns the fight around, in his favor.
-Goku, given new life from the old Kaiôshin, comes and rescues Gohan, and passes him a fusion earring. Gohan drops it, and is absorbed.
-Goku senses Vegeta, who was brought to Earth by Uranai Baba, and fuses with him, creating Vegetto. Vegetto defeats Boo without any effort whatsoever, but is absorbed anyway.
-Goku and Vegeta destroy Boo from the inside by pulling out all of the absorbed people. He reverts to his original, insane form.
-Goku fights with Boo, but loses energy too quickly to do any good.
-Goku summons the mighty Genki-Dama and kills Boo, once and for all.

Sometime in September-A wish is made on the Dragon so everyone forgets about Boo (so the good Boo, Mr. Boo, can live in peace amongst the people).

I reckon they're on seperate days personally. >.>;; Because May 8th is on a convenient day one year doesn't mean it will be the next. It's a bit like the olympics, they're always on around the same time of year, but never exactly the same date. <.<;;

The fact that you're saying "for all we know" proves it's an estimation. I'm not claiming to have the answer, but it isn't explicitly stated, so it can't be 100% accurate.

Indeed. Besides, it could just as easily be the second Saturday of May. Since the only relation to date we have is May 9th being a day after the 22nd Budokai that fits just as well as your idea that it's always on the 8th. And even Goku can keep track of that.
