Who cares how to spell it, it's sickening enough to know what it means and that people out there use it's concept for DBZ and other anime. Uh, getting off topic quite much... EDIT: I apoligize if this first paragrapgh seemed to be a hating comment of homosexuality, but yaio is just plain wrong when it comes to DBZ, sorry to any "enjoyers" of it out there, but in my opinon, it's just wrong and I'll say no more on it.B-kun wrote:@ CMG - What the hell is yaio? It's spelled yaoi. It's not that hard. =/
Anyhow, I hope the other dvds don't get this same featurette, I'd hate to think FUNi would waste space on that when they could clean up the video quality for these early episodes. Hopefully if there are any more of these "special" featurettes, we get one on Gohan, he is the destined one after all.

What I think?
It looks as though I could be a little late for this, but since it's a Sticky I'll wager nobody minds if I ramble a bit.
The only thing I personally know about the Dragon Box collection is that they exist. When I heard about those, I was seriously contemplating shelling out the big bucks to grab one.
Then I found out there were no subtitles. Well, I guess that's only fair for a Japanese release.
Recently I scooped up the domestic release instead, which I'd been anxiously awaiting since the first rumors were spread. It's the first time I've actually seen these episodes, so whatever the picture quality may be in comparison to Pioneer or the Dragon Boxes is absolutely lost to me . . . yeah, I want quality for my money but to be honest I could enjoy the episodes even if they were just VHS, though I'm sure that even the worst DVD far outmatches whatever VHS could do.
I saw the quality chart in DaizenshuuEX's new Feature column (and I agree that it is shocking), but I guess it just doesn't bother me as much as it should; I'm just happy to get a release of the original footage at all. The box and overall presentation aren't Dragon Box but aren't exactly crap, either; I enjoyed the interview, which is really the first actual "extra" I've ever seen on a DBZ DVD, and it's nice to see a disc cover that isn't just a lazy screenshot . . . in fact the only real problem I have with the re-release at all is that it is so different than the previous releases, since obviously the new and old sets are in conflict and my shelf is going to look like the first third of DBZ is somehow "different" from the rest. I wonder if FUNimation will release new boxes and covers for the other sagas to match these (though that would be admittedly anal for them to sell and equally so for me to buy!)
Perhaps one other problem might be that FUNi could have written out their own script rather than re-use most of Pioneer's, but since I like the dub too I'll settle for having a consistent set of voices throughout Dragonball Z . . . though I must admit it lacks the "grassroots" feeling that watching the first episodes in Japanese gives off. Having seen the rest of the series, it feels for me like I'm watching history itself unfold.
Anyway, that's it for me. Subtitles make me happy, DBZ makes me happy = subtitled DBZ makes me happy.

The Ultimate Uncut redub (according to it's commersial) is coming to Cartoon Network Uncut, though not confirmed to be uncensored just yet. Tuesday night, tonight, at 10:30 PM, rating of PG, and right before Adult Swim (so that should gaurantee it's being revealed uncut). To any dubbies out there who don't want to shell out for the rest of the Ultimate Uncuts (though I still recommend you get at least the very first), enjoy what CN is showing for free. And if it will be shown uncensored, that means Goku and Raditz's gorey blood will flow about, the blantent letters "H.F.I.L" will now be "HELL", and Goku's adult behind will be shown to every drooling fangirl in America.

Sorry Conan, it's not going to happen. Atleast not for American viewers.Conan the Misinformed wrote:the blantent letters "H.F.I.L" will now be "HELL"
HFIL has been interlaced through out the entire series, so unless FUNi wants to dub it out of every episode, and re-release them, it isn't going anywhere.

Uncut dub it was Hell. And during the Buu saga edited, it was known as "Down Below". Though one friend of mine said he liked the HFIL line because he thought the bad guys there really were losers.lost in thought wrote:Sorry Conan, it's not going to happen. Anyone get the next two volumes yet: Piccolo's Plan and Into the Wild? There are a bunch of mixed dates saying it releases on the 14th, 21st, and supposedly already released since the 7th. I didn't find them yesterday at Bestbuy. I might check today since their website says Into the Wild comes out today, but Piccolo's Plan (vol 2) is listed on their site to be released on the 21st. Weird.

They must be shifting a lot, 'cause my uncut Saiyaman tapes say HFIL.Super Sonich wrote:Uncut dub it was Hell. And during the Buu saga edited, it was known as "Down Below". Though one friend of mine said he liked the HFIL line because he thought the bad guys there really were losers.
I have into the wild, some stores like BestBuy started selling them as early as May 19th, even though they weren't supposed to go out until I think like May 30th.RC315 wrote:Anyone get the next two volumes yet: Piccolo's Plan and Into the Wild? For one it's "Pioneer", and two, you're trying to explain a concept most of us know, and understand. That's like trying to explain to a dog why it likes snausages.DB_Fan wrote:When will people understand that Funi is not using Pioner's/Ocean's Script. Ocean and Pioner don't even have one, it was always Funimation, so they are just using the same script they used a few years ago. The only thing Ocean had was the cast, and Pioner was just the video distridutor.

They STILL haven't shipped.
Anyway, do these two volumes contain a documentary, like volume 1? And if they do, what topics are they on this time?

Nah, the Ginyu Saga dvds will more likley than anything be left alone. However, the dub on the last Namek-redub Saga dvd may have a completly different video track for episode 67, seeing as FUNi may want to stay in continuity regaurding the dub. Though if that does happen, the Sub will still be left alone since it was on the "Ginyu" dvds as well.denitonis wrote:Anybody think they will redo Captain Ginyu too.
So you will get:
1 Vegeta saga
2 Namek saga
3 Ginyu Force Saga
