Blah, my bad. The episode preview for episode 13. It's on episode 12. I don't know how I would word it. But it's this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxcBv3FVM6o I swear that was edited in the NickToons version somewhere. I posted the Japanese version since in what I searched, that was the first thing I got.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:It took me a while to realize you are talking about the next episode preview. I mean if something is edited out in the preview or recap but not in the episode, I'll mention it.

Sorry to bump the thread, but there's something I noticed. I'm watching Kai on Nicktoons now, and I noticed in episode 3 that Yemma mentioned that Goku was a shoo-in to get into Heaven...and he actually said Heaven. Why is that allowed, but the use of Hell isn't?

I'm gonna go with the cop-out answer and assume that it's because Hell is technically a swear word and the super religious parents probably aren't offended if they say Heaven; but, if Hell gets uttered "rabble, rabble, rabble!". While I think truly Shit, Fuck, and Cunt are the only real swear words. But than again you're talking to a guy whose daily vernacular still has the above words in there, minus cunt, very rarely use that. I picked up swearing mainly from my Dad, so it's just habit. I swear in front of my parents. Just never AT them, as long as we don't cuss in vain at them or our elders they're fine with it. That's also why in the parodies there's sometimes more swearing than there should be. I just write those how I talk. Minus the characters who have specific ways of speaking when I don't ignore those.Big Momma wrote:Sorry to bump the thread, but there's something I noticed. But, that's my opinion.

Hey, they allowed Sanji to have a cig during one of the bumpers when One Piece was on TV.
If it's quick and isn't pushy, then they let it slide. Well thats what I think anyhow.

4Kids never actually removed the cig though in their dub. They just turned it into a lollipop. Unless there was visible smoke coming from the cig in said bumper?Budogenkai wrote:Hey, they allowed Sanji to have a cig during one of the bumpers when One Piece was on TV.

From what I remember there was. But then I also realized this might have been a slip because other then that instance, the cig was removed completly from the eyecatches and the show.

That was from the Funi dub though, which wasn't horrible.Budogenkai wrote:From what I remember there was. But then I also realized this might have been a slip because other then that instance, the cig was removed completly from the eyecatches and the show.

There were a couple of times when 4Kids forgot to remove some smoke, but probably just mistakes.
4Kids changed it into a lolly, Funi just got rid of it entirely.

Oh my god... I just noticed.

In the close-up of Piccolo's face, they edited his eyes to be opened wider to look less threatening. HAHAHAHA! So ridiculous, but humourously superfluous.

The shading on the face is different, so I'm guessing it's just a different frame.

An All-Out Kamehameha! Vegeta's Terrible Transformation!

Soon after the episode starts we have a strange audio edit. While Vegeta is getting his ass kicked by Goku (while in Kaio-ken X3 mode) Vegeta says, "Darn you" which, I would think is fine, but they edited it.

Then a few scenes later, I found out the "you wretched little..." line was actually taken from this scene...

I found the whole thing kinda odd. I didn't think it mattered either way. Nothing lost, nothing gained.
Goku then lands a hard punch to Vegeta's gut. There is a shot of Goku's fist in Vegeta's stomach. It was cut so that it just looked like a swift punch to the gut.

This attack makes Vegeta drool, the drool was edited out of the TV version...

After the initial shock, Vegeta try's to comprehend what is happening. In this scene blood on his face was edited out...

Vegeta soon gets the upper hand. He manages to get on top of Goku's head and ready's himself to bash it, but then Goku cracks him in the face! The initial hit is gone.

Next Goku bashes Vegeta with hit after hit. This scene just has those one second shots going really fast of different hits Goku is connecting with. A few of them were edited out, it seemed a little random, some hits where there, some hits weren't.
One of those hits knocks Vegeta into the air where we see Goku, in the next scene coming down, pushing Vegeta into a mountain side. Vegeta hitting the mountain and his scream are cut.

In the next scene Vegeta is laying in pain on the mountain top. He gets up and looks at his gloves, sees his own blood and freaks out. Vegeta's speech about how his blood shouldn't be spilled is cut out.

I should note, at this time Goku and Vegeta have blood on their bodies throughout the rest of the episode and it is has been re-colored.
Vegeta gets so pissed off he tries to blow up the Earth. Goku and Vegeta get locked into a energy attack tug of war. Eventually Goku blast Vegeta far into the atmosphere. Yajirobi see's this and says...

A few seconds later he runs towards Goku and yells to him...

After Vegeta gets himself together, high above the Earth, he talks about transforming. He's pissed at Goku for even pushing him to this point and says...

Vegeta creates a light capable of transforming even without the moon. After starts his transformation. Goku eventually realizes the monster that killed his Grandpa was him! Dun dun dun! This next audio edit came in the middle of a sentence...

Goku talks about how sorry he is and how he will take this monster out...

Vegeta continues to bash Goku around. Vegeta leaps up in the air and yells...

As Vegeta comes down he kicks Goku into a mountain. The kick is cut out but Goku hitting the mountain is still there...

Soon after, the episode comes to an end.

Hmm. Nothing too surprising or offensive in the edits this time. Thanks as always for posting these.
(Just had to point out, though, that the word is "wretched." Retched is the past tense of a verb meaning to vomit.)

Hmm, my spell check said to spell it that way. Alright. I'll change it.
Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.14*
Yay, comparisons!
'Darn you' is pretty...uh...well...headscratch-worthy. Was it meant for the broadcast dub and they had multiple takes but got them jumbled up? Hmm...

So wait... They changed Kamehame-Ha to Kamehameha in the title card?

Which is weird, because FUNi has always used "Kamehameha".Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Umm..... Yeah....Puto wrote:So wait... They changed Kamehame-Ha to Kamehameha in the title card?

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.14*
I am by no means an expert on the way things were done in the old dub because I haven't watched it since the 2001 or so, but for some time now FUNi has been consistently using "Kamehame-Ha" in their subtitles. It can go either way if you ask me, but I think using the hyphen is a nice touch considering that last "ha" is a kanji while the "kamehame" part is katakana. It's not really an issue though. Given that the title cards on the TV version are completely different than the BD/DVD anyway I'm guessing whoever handles re-doing them for the broadcast version just didn't know any better.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Which is weird, because FUNi has always used "Kamehameha".Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Umm..... Yeah, the spellings used in the subtitles don't always coincide with FUNimation's "official" spellings (see: Frieza vs. Freeza).obiwan23s wrote: I am by no means an expert on the way things were done in the old dub because I haven't watched it since the 2001 or so, but for some time now FUNi has been consistently using "Kamehame-Ha" in their subtitles.
