As jjgp1112 said that screenshot isn't good quality or resolution so you can't necessarily judge the season sets on that. Anyway here's a totally epic version:

That's from one of my favorite fights ever in the show, that screencap looks great. The on I love the very best is when Vegeta is floating upside down and hits Cell behind him and Cell dgoes to fall and Vegeta catches him, while still floating upside down and starts trash talking. Such epic cockiness.

The actual option is there (16:9) but its greyed out, saying its not an option for the current signal.

That would make me assume its something I have to fiddle on the dvd player, but I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm using a HDMI input? (it upscales to 1080i)
Hmm. It seems your DVD player is trying to tell you that you shouldn't try to stretch out a native 4:3 image to 16:9. Maybe you should listen to it.

In all seriousness, though, I'm not sure why it would simply not let you choose a certain aspect ratio option.

But in more pressing news... DBox 4 finally arrived for me! It's just as beautiful as I imagined and looks great next to the other three. Personally, looking at them all back to back, the DBook covers make me chuckle. Box 1 is Goku, Book 1 is Vegeta. Box 2 is Vegeta, Book 2 is Freeza. Box 3 is Freeza, Book 3 is Z-Senshi. Box 4 is Cell, Book 4 is... also Cell! Heh, it seems they used Book 3's cover to finally match up the cover and book images.

What we're saying is that the cap isn't representative of the season set's quality because it's not from the actual DVD, it's from a file that has lord knows what kind of compression done to it.

Either that, or it's a poorly grabbed screencap from the DVD

What was the point in moving this here when the thread was already answered?

And the answer is no.

I actually like the first image more. The colors seem to stick out more, and the lines look sharper, IMO.

Not to say the DBox screen looks bad. I think that would look better in motion, while the first image is better just as a stand-alone image.

Enjoying DBox goodness even though I already have all of the early episodes of this box on singles and have therefore seen them multiple times. Can't help but love and hate that Maron-inspired RR flashback. I always enjoyed watching it (in Japanese), but I can never forget the first time I saw it in the dub back in the fall of 2000. I still hadn't seen DB at that point, but I had read Hoffmann's summaries, so I knew what happened. And my jaw just dropped at the sheer level of, "We're making random shit up right now." I was already having a hard enough time proving the mistakes of the dub to my friends, and now FUNimation was going into full-on stupid mode. And it's so funny after all the total, "Your father was a brilliant scientist"-esque inventions for Gero and Tao Pai Pai that they just seemed to run out of ideas at the end when it came to Black. "Eventually there was just one man left." Based on what they'd done up to that point, I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd had Muten Roshi say, "And then there was just one man left: Dr. Gero's personal trainer, who the doctor had used to test the strength of his androids. And he was also godfather to his children, Boomer and Buster. And he was the person who invented the missile he shot out at Goku right there." I honestly can't remember a more frustrating DBZ moment for me than that, and I think it's really what pushed me to stop watching the dub after that season ended.

Doh, my mistake, its the other way around! Trying to get it to be 4:3. As in, erm, you know, not widescreen. Black around the sides, OLD SKOOL TELEVISION-O-THON. Way its meant to be seen-o-rama. Whatever its called!

EDIT: I realise this may result in the same answer overall, as in, it should just simply allow whatever image you want.

Even if it says shipped on Friday it really means that it doesn't move til Monday which sucks..

Of course, it all depends on when UPS received it and whether they actually ship on the weekend. Now, if there was an announcement saying "Want it by x-date? Use 2-day shipping" only to have it arrive after x-date, that would be grounds for an argument.

Even though my Dragon Box hasn't shipped yet (from Amazon.ca), it's a good thing I pre-ordered it when I did as the price has jumped up $12, making my final total $1 less than the pre-tax/shipping for the new price. Amazon.ca never adjusted for the delay so it's showing it as being temporarily out of stock. I'm in no hurry to get it, though.
