I was wondering why there wasn't a thread for this already.

If I hadn't seen the character designs below the jump, I could've sworn that very first image, the dynamic-looking headshot on the main page of daizex was of Goku in casual clothes with the wind whipping through his hair.

The full body shot proved me wrong.

The new characters give off a "teenage Raditz" and "if 17 was a saiyajin" vibes. The hero looks like a young Bardock if he'd kept his original hair design.

I don't really play card games (lol I feel like it's Raging Blast all over again with how I don't really care about the product itself), but I'm very interested in seeing how the new animated commercial turns out.

When I first saw the first picture on the main page I assumed Dragon Ball Heroes was some sort of anime spin-off and I died a little on the inside(I didn't notice the card). I felt better after hearing that it will most likely be for a card-game commercial.
I'd like to see the commercial whenever it comes out. The Raditz-esque guy looks kind cool.

I gotta be honest, before I read through the article, the designs kinda drove me to think we were getting a DBO anime. I admit it would have been neat to see what they would have done with the story, but I suppose a commercial for a CCG is just as good. >.>

I could definitely see DBO getting an anime before DB Heroes. With heroes you'd probably get some sort of DB/YGO fusion-type series that uses DB mythos instead of ancient Egypt.

Though it'd sure give DBZ Abridged and YGO Abridged footage for a card-duel-related crossover, wouldn't it? I'd watch that.

Would Heroes' cards summon actual DB characters, I wonder? Hm.

I just thought this WAS the DBO anime announcement. I saw "DB Heroes" and a Goku-ish character that wasn't in a dogi, so I scrolled through the images and saw new characters and old characters and assumed "TIME MACHINE QUESTS!". lol Then I read the article and was slightly disappointed. But new animation is new animation. I won't complain. I can't say I'd like the idea of my favorite series being made into an anime where the characters were reduced to cards, regardless of if the game was based on the real characters in-universe, or if they say DBZGT took place as a ficitional story in the universe.

I'm personally not a fan of this kind of stuff. DBO and stuff like this just aren't DragonBall to me. It's interesting, no doubt. But to me, DragonBall will always be the story of Goku. So all of this stuff is just DragonBall based, like Officially made Fanfiction if you will.

I understand all about Toriyama's deep involvement with DBO. But it's still not DragonBall to me. Just like Season 9 of Scrubs just isn't Scrubs to me. DragonBall had such a diverse and amazing cast of characters. DBO is just taking the stereotypes that those characters created and applying them to the same world. That's why I'm not a huge DBO fan.

I understand all about Toriyama's deep involvement with DBO. But it's still not DragonBall to me. Just like Season 9 of Scrubs just isn't Scrubs to me. DragonBall had such a diverse and amazing cast of characters. DBO is just taking the stereotypes that those characters created and applying them to the same world. That's why I'm not a huge DBO fan.

While I haven't played DBO, it seems most of the Time Quests I've been told about focus on Goku centric parts of the story, though there are others based on the other heroes and such. But I think you are forgetting that it's a game and supposed to be fun, we can't have everyone on the internet trying to be Goku and saving the world. =P It is still very much the story of Goku, but it is also a new way to bring the fan into the world. By joining up with our original cast to stop the new villain from wreaking havoc in the past. I mean, it isn't like Goku is totally out of the picture. AND if the game really does bring about an anime once it hits Japan, the series could easily shift the focus to the old cast and new cast having equal spotlight, whereas the game is very much based on the players, because lets face it, it is a game and it wouldn't be fun if Goku did all the work while you just watched.

And yet it's still Scrubs, and it's still Dragonball. Either of us liking it or not doesn't change whether it's Dragonball or not. Same goes for every other series that is not ours or in our control. I still consider it Dragonball, not fanfiction (which I think is absurd to call it fanfiction). It doesn't seem like Dragonball to you 'cause you're not comfortable with it.

Whoa, nice news! But these designs are not anything that much awesome for me, just recycled from original show.
I found DBO much more interesting but can't wait to see what will come up from this.
As with developing speed of Raging Blast, I asume that this will be officially shown in action next year maybe.

I'm kinda surprised this isn't being discussed more... The card in the first image scares me though, I don't want to see Dragonball raped into a card-based animé, so lets pray it really is a commercial.
