Hmm... So as to not have yet another Ishihara song in the one row, I might do "The Power of a Smile" (or literally just "Power of Smile") or something.

After long waits (I knew I shouldn't have gone out for that gopher task of "Ask for a long weight, at the store"), I've finally returned with a song. It seems somewhat fitting to put this one up today, as it's someone's birthday. My apologies as it's a fairly old translation, and so may not be up to my usual standards. I might go over it again later and update it. Anyway, this song is "Happy Birthday", and it's put up today for Gregorthegame, who was born today on the 14th September. ... Oh, and for some guy who does song translations too. But who cares about him? He constantly gets late in his updates.

As it happens, "Donna Donna" is a song of Jewish origin, and in Japanese terms, it can refer to being caught out by a guard, or being lead off like a calf to the slaughter (much like in the song). At least that's what I could make out from my research. Otherwise I couldn't come up with anything for "Donadona".

I'm a little way into it, though as I'm about to sleep and I have my IT course tomorrow, I'll have to try and get it completed and uploaded here tomorrow afternoon/evening. However, the next song is one that I've fallen in love with recently, "Sora to Ame to", or "The Sky and the Rain".

It's nice to have a translation of such an obscure song. Owning the Complete Song Collection Box has been awesome, but I tend to wonder what these songs are about. Occasionally I'll translate a bit of one of them, but I seem to be lacking in the grammar department. I need to get my Japanese textbook back from my lazyass friend (who's supposed to be studying Japanese)!

Well, I did it in a couple of hours, while I was waiting for something, but here is my translation of "Yoake no Kodomo-tachi". "The Children of the Dawn". I must say, I loved this song, anyway, but now I've translated it, I love it even more. Someone alert Miss Meri, one of her favourite songs has been translated it, and it is lovely.

I tried my best to keep some of the rhymes from the song, by my usual way (i.e. trying to keep the last words in the line have similar sounds, like "yuke" and "faith" have a similar vowel sound. I also put it so the verses are in third person, and the singer is then singing out to the aforementioned children. I hope it doesn't seem too inconsistent.

Ashy-kun, do you think you'll ever translate one the songs by Tom? She sings three songs: Hey You, Crasher, Que Será, and Majin-Boo ni Sasageru Ballad. ...Though, don't like the third song as much. And for anyone who cares, she's from the band TOM★CAT. I think they used to do anime OP and ED songs in the 80's.

Some other awesome songs I can think of are Perfum N° 18, Asa - Hiru - Yoru - Kimi - Boku (this one I can't NOT imagine Luffy singing ), Mind Power, and Warning of Danger.

So, if any of those are awesome enough for you, then... uh... yay! XD

I'm not too fond of the Tom songs, myself, but I can have a look at them at a later time. ^^

In regards to some of your suggestions, I can tell with pleasure, that I already have translated Warning of Danger (since I love that song, and pretty much most of the Ishihara Shinichi songs), and Perfum no. 18.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to be looking at this topic for the... Uhh... I think it's Progression? I know it's the one with the Road of Promise song, for my next two songs. See if I can get those done, some time soon. Though I'll have to say that I don't know if they'll come up that quickly, as I'm juggling a few things at the moment in my personal life.

And my God, I'm starting to regret going through "Progression". It's the type of Kageyama song that I really cannot stand that much any more, and as I've only got kanji to go through, I have to listen to the lyrics, to see if I can make out what kanji they are.

It probably doesn't help that I've started to get into Super Sentai songs and want to translate them, too.
