I heard GT Pan and Trunks were secret lovers. That is just messed up.

Yeah, apparently there's a lot of fan art and fan fiction on that. I guess some people have wide (albeit warped) imaginations.

There are more strange fan-fics themes:
-Bulma& Goku
-Gohan& Piccolo
-Vegeta and Raditz sexually abused by... I can't it's too sick.

Don't forget the incestuous ones: Goten x Chi-Chi, Trunks x Bulma...and I've seen quite a few Goku x Freeza fan art too. Well, you can't say the internet doesn't cater to everyone!

How are the first two strange? Bulma and Gokou go way back, and there are some hints in early DBZ that she regrets never thinking of him 'that way' and blowing her chance because whoops, that little Gokou is married and has a kid now. Gohan and Piccolo is 'strange' in the sense that Piccolo is asexual and shouldn't even have...well, I don't think I need to say what we're all thinking, but relationship-wise it's pretty standard fare in the yaoi fangirl community (I know, I was a part of it from age 16 until about two years ago). Pan and Trunks is more squicky in the sense that there's a lot of discrepancy among the fans as to their actual ages (and ages in GT in general, it seems). I think we can safely say that Pan is a biiiiiit young to be involved with a 20-something Trunks at this point, and that's what makes that pairing stick out as gross to most people. Of course...then you take the issue back to Piccolo and Gohan and have to ask the same sort of questions, but since Piccolo is technically what, 8 years old, it's...

Okay, yeah, for the most part, it's hard to find completely 'normal' pairings in the Dragonverse ^^;

I know how yaoi fandom works (but it still don't make any sense to me ) but sexual relationship between male and hermaphrodite is too much for me. I have nothing against friendship, but some fan-fics' writers don't know where is boundary.
Pan&Trunks wouldn't fit for me from one reason: in the last episode of GT Bulma-alike woman and heir of their company is completely stranger to Pan.

Everything depend on the talents of the creator- most of published fanfics are really poor written, with no beta readers, proofreading and formatting. They fail in the language layer, don't care about psychology and logical behaviour. On the other hand I've read Chi-Chi& Piccolo, Brolly&Chi-chi, even Raditz&Zarbon (yes, I admit that) fics that were written in so good manner that they were really convincing, even if they were completely different than series.

Back to the topic: "Goku and Brolly had the same nanny"

Well, Bulma's brief little "attraction" to Goku was purely sexual. She never thought of him like that when she was 16 years old and he was a little 12-year-old who, as Eire mentioned, you gave a bath to.
Suupaa Gohan 2 wrote:Gohan and Piccolo is 'strange' in the sense that Piccolo is asexual and shouldn't even have...well, I don't think I need to say what we're all thinking, but relationship-wise it's pretty standard fare in the yaoi fangirl community (I know, I was a part of it from age 16 until about two years ago).
Yeah, it's standard fare, but doesn't it make it any less weird. Even though Piccolo's technically much younger than he looks, he still has the body of a matured adult. And Gohan's a little kid. That would make Piccolo a paedophile. It's more acceptable if it's a fanfic done in the Boo Arc, since Gohan's actually matured then. I do admit it has a lot more potential than Goku x Bulma, since Piccolo and Gohan do actually have quite a close friendship, which could easily be exaggerated to love in a number of fanfics.

Yeah, according Herms' Age Guide, at the beginning of GT, Pan is 10 while Trunks is 23. That's just weird. Although such things aren't uncommon in the world of manga...

But whatever. I bet there's even some Videl x Spopovich stuff floating around in the web...

Sorry, I'm getting off-topic here, and it's my own thread!

So start a new one about odd parings :)

And here's maybe the strangest story about DBZ that was ever believed
I was sure that the thing that Brolly and Raditz were brothers!

And little background...
I got movie 8 on VHS when I was a kid and I couldn't understand a word in English, so I asked my 14 years old neighbour to translate it to me and she produced that version. When I asked her about that she said that she understood everything, but it sounded so odd to her that she was sure she was wrong and write her own version

-Mother of Goku was high-class Saiyan who had a love affair with Bardock
-They broke up after he was born, and she mated with Paragas
-Bordok was ******** and after he saw that she won't come back he sneaked on her to the king
-He lied that she was Freeza's spy that caused death sentence on whole family
(Everything should suit Paragas' retrospection).

Strange, but still better than original one.

What would we talk about? Just throw out random pairings between characters and then laugh at how stupid it is?

Anyway, I think I should contribute a rumour for once. Well, probably something that I believed rather than a rumour. Because I'd never really watched the Dragon Ball anime, from watching those spoof YouTube videos, I actually believed that Goku deflected Freeza's beam and killed Vegeta with it.

LOL, the first time I saw that video, I laughed my ass off, it is just like that one spoof video of the farmer killing Raditz with his shotgun.

The crazy internet world of 4chan!!

But what's wrong with Goku x Bulma ???....I could totally see that happening. It would go like "Bulma reminiscing about the past, sees how much Goku has grown....became quite the looker too. Then Goku accidentally does something charming and BAM."

Actually, that first sentence DID happen, at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. It just never carried into the second sentence.

There's an obscure rumor stating that movie 9 (Bojack) is canonical, because Akira Toriyama scripted and/or directed it. Yeah...

I don't know whether this is a well-known rumour or not, but I heard that apparently Trunks' sword was "a gift from the gods".

Why not? I can think of several other threads along those lines. :P

But I don't think Bulma x Gokou is terribly strange. I don't support it personally, but it's a fairly common trope to have childhood friends grow up to be 'more than friends' - and I've seen quite a few Japanese stories where the whole 'we used to bathe together as kids, it's soooo weird' aspect comes up in some form. People grow up and come to look at things differently than they did when they were young. I don't think it'd be unusual at all. If anything, the issue would be the same as with Gokou and Chi-Chi - the guy just doesn't get romance. I do believe he came to love Chi-Chi in time, in his own special Gokou way, but he's just not the type who could fall for even as old and close a friend as Bulma the way a normal person might (whereas it'd be perfectly normal from Bulma's side).

If no one else does, I might make an odd pairings thread later so we don't get off-topic anymore here. I think it's got discussion potential, especially since we have been getting off-topic with it in the first place. :)

If I had to venture a guess, that's probably the result of some 'telephone game' with the paradox in Movie #13 where he 'gets the sword' from Tapion.

I remember once hearing that GT is a lot darker then DB and DBZ. And that GT has a lot of bad words like "Fuck", "Bitch", and their was a good amount of blood. This was back in 2001 and I thought GT would be awesome, but it looks like I was wrong.
