GT Complete Series

Post by LeprikanGT » Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:15 am

Just got back from BestBuy picking up my Dbox 4 and I saw the GT brick. it's actually a bit nicer looking. There is no sleeve so the whole brick fits into a box kind of like the Kai DVDs do now and theres no split in the GT spine art, so it is one huge brick that I'm assuming folds out twice as long.

I feel stupid for actually wanting to buy it even though I have the original bricks.

Sounds like the packaging's pretty nice then. I hate dealing with the Season Sets' sleeves.

I'll probably put this one on a Christmas list, as I never got the original Green Bricks but own everything except the Baby-on-Earth material on the old singles.

I've got the old singles AND the two bricks and i feel like I still want to own this two for the packaging. I took the others out of the sleeve and have the spine art displayed anyways.

Hmmm knowing the packaging for the GT "Series set" makes me want to get it now.

Even though I have most of the singles, which have the Next Episode Preview... but the Series set has the Dub with Japanese score... Damnit it's so hard to choose!
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

I'd say price match it and go for it. The 'box' it comes in feels stronger than just the sleeves and I'm way interested to see how it flips open and the packaging and all that. And theres a sticker right on the front that says the GT movie is included. I knew it would but it was a nice confirmation.

I'll have to get one of these sets some time.... although I only really need the TV special. It would just feel weird to only have set 2.... darn obsessiveness! :x

I know the feeling, I want it all. I've bought the old singles, the brick sets and I'm working on the Dboxes and Kai at the same time, but Damn if I can convince myself to buy the almost exactly identical items just for the casing.

I know, it's uncanny. How does learning that it has better packaging make me all tingly and want to buy this release, even though the actual video content is all something I already have? Eeeeegh!

On a related note, anyone know about the booklet? Have the two from the individual sets been combined into one? Is it included at all? I'm curious.

I have the first half of the series and the TV special in the old singles. I had been debating just getting the last half of the singles, or the second brick, but, if this set ever drops down to ~$25 (I know the DragonBoxes tend to do so a few months after release on Amazon), I'll probably just grab it instead, especially since it sounds like it isn't in the same type of cardboard sleeve.

Shelf-space is more important than Japanese title cards and next episode previews at this point.

Oh god I hated the way the Season Sets' sleeves were, they were impossible to put back on when your not handeling it carefully.

Come on, seriously? New box art is enough to make you guys want to purchase stuff you already own? Just find a screengrab of the new box art, print it out, tape it to a box of cereal, and put it on your shelf, and that way you've saved a few tens of dollars and still have the same thing.

Its a BOX this time, not a sleeve and all 10 discs fit into the multifold holder thing, that would be cool to own.

Sorry, I just don't see how a box (sorry... BOX) instead of a sleeve is worth re-purchasing the exact same content. If you want it, more power to you. I just don't get it.

I'd love to see it! Does anyone that can post pics have it? I wish FUNi still did those "Hey, Nice Package" videos.

They did one recently. Just not involving this set.

This set would actually be pretty cool to get if Funi never does a GT Dragonbox. I'd get it some day at least.

Is this set just a marketing thing to get rid of excess discs or something though? I don't see them doing a DB or DBZ bricks complete series box.

It's probably a test run to see just how practical larger sets can be. Might also be a test to see just how marketable GT is.

If I hadn't already bought the season sets, I would have been interested in this. The only way I'd purchase GT again is a potential Dragon Box release, which I'm not holding my breath for. Hopefully, for any Dragon Box release of GT material, FUNimation would finally abolish the horrid "Step Into the Grand Tour" crap from the end credits of the TV special, it's the only black mark on the release in my eyes.
